Liverpool forward Diogo Jota dies in car crash

The footballer's car left the road due to a tyre blow out while overtaking another car; Jota's brother also died in the crash.

Life can be cruel in how it shapes our future. He was a very good player who started at Wolves and looked like a huge signing for them. At Liverpool, he really showed what he could do. At 28, he still had so many years ahead to hit his peak.

It’s heartbreaking to hear about the car crash. Rest in peace, Jota.

I saw it online and had to make sure it was real. At first, it felt like one of those made-up stories someone posts as a bad joke. I was shocked when I found out it was true. It’s really sad news. Diogo Jota was a really good player, and it feels so unfair.

He will be missed a lot, and hearing about this just makes everything feel even sadder.

He had the world at his feet and it’s all been taken away, it’s tragic and only goes to show how quickly things can change and our lives can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. I feel so sorry for the families of the two brothers life will never be the same for them.

It’s one of those shocking moments that hits you out of nowhere, like a big world event you never forget. It’s awful news. Football is really feeling the loss of Jota, and so many clubs are showing their support and sadness.

Such a tragic and heartbreaking thing to happen.

It’s a terrible way to die, trapped in a burning car. The pictures of what’s left look truly awful. He was told not to fly for medical reasons, and then something like this happens, it’s such a cruel twist of fate. It’s not just Jota either. It sounds like his brother was also named as one of the people who died.

My thoughts are with their family and everyone close to them. Rest in peace.

their family must be devastated, such an awful accident where two brothers lost their lives. i am pleased the media have been reporting on the passing, rather than doing the speculation and rumour spreading that they can do with such tragic events.

rest in peace to jota and his brother. πŸ™

I heard some teachers talking about it too, and like you, my first thought was the same. It’s really upsetting.

Sadly, you do come across false stories now and again, so it’s important to stay careful. As soon as I saw it confirmed on the BBC Sport site, I had to pause for a moment. It’s such a sad situation.
