Will Derry ride the storm?

I don't expect him to be sacked but we all know what some of our fans are like. Will he ride the storm? I feel he will this season but a lot depends on the budget if he does next year.

Of course he will but some of the comments I can understand, it's when the achievement from last season seems to have been forgotten which gets me. We need to play better, next season we need to be more stable and see a smaller squad. If the fans stay a way, it will only cause a worse knock on effect and although I don't blame fans for not shelling £24 for a home game.

I do feel season ticket holders need to remain committed.

Work together as we did last season, that was far worse. Majority didn't believe he would keep us up, myself include and when I saw us starting to get results things quickly changed. Let's hope it starts tomorrow!

hes one of our own! hes one of our own! nooooooo, i hope not.

he would not be the first manager who went after a good start tho, i do expect the board to back him and the fans!

I think he will remain in charge even if we go down, we don't need any more upheaval, just stick with Shaun and let him do his job and we will be ok.

Many fans around me are starting to turn on him, it was not pretty after Port Vale but I do think Shaun needs to step up. This does not mean that I want him out but the things we did at the start of the season and of course him acknowledging the fans was a positive sign. I hope fans will give him longer, some a just fickle and expect miracles which wont happen.

Derry does deserve the support!

There's only so many times you can milk a cow.

He must remain in charge, though I do feel he needs more help - Greg Abbott's done very well, I'm not suggesting he changes but perhaps it's time to discuss that Director of Football role which was mentioned a few years back?

Ah, either way next year should be much better.

All a director of football will do is just interfere with everything and upset what has already been put in place.

They are doing fine and all of the work that they are putting in behind the scenes will reap it's benefits soon.

As for those calling for his sacking, are the last few years that distant a memory??

He needs to stay. He's still learning and what better place to learn than where he started. Our squads not amazing but with JCR and Paddy I think we have enough to survive another season.

I thought we were more unlucky than poor on Saturday.

In Shaun we MUST trust and come on you pies!

Regards Al

You Pies!

Fair point mate, I know Shaun's got a wealth of knowledge around him. Jim Rodwell, Paul Hart, Alan Smith, Neil Warnock etc etc. I think @jsrjay has a point in the discussion he started about his side, we need to see the squad settle.

a settled side will be the way to sort it. That and confidence to let the players go 4 4 2 and not meddle with it too much. In saying that though Paddy Mc did really well floating about.

SD needs to do more on the training ground imo. Our set pieces are awful. Our defensive organization is poor. These are things that can be sorted on the training pitch not during a game. Come on SD let's see us score from a corner or a free kick again!!

With Paul Hart already at the club I suspect SD is already leaning on him now.

Sack Derry? Are we that mad? Surely people see its worth giving him the benefit of the doubt. I would hope he survives.

I have been consistant in saying this but each of the last four games as been an improvement on the last. This team are like a new squad, which S&G had no option but to do owing to loans ending etcetera,

He as also gambled this season by signing players that he believes in, and will play his way. I think the fans getting on his back is a symptom of today's 'throw away' society and those demanding change are not necessarily the ones who go to games. Some will of course but not all. As usual when the chips are down you hear those that shout loudest. Particularly now with the events over the river to show what change can do!

However, I believe the majority of 'fans' are not screaming for change because it doesn't cross their minds as a logical choice. The Silent majority see stability as an important development in our progression after recent times.

So I say this:-

I back Shaun 100% because he backs the fans right to demand change. People forget he is a novice and is learning his trade, whilst he does that he may well makes mistakes and poor choices but he is learning and it shows in the performances. The results will come and the confidence will return.

If in the end we go down then I will still support Notts because: This is Notts County, my team, my choice, no matter what.

I think we are stuck with him tbh! He was a high risk appointment and he enjoyed s bright "honeymoon" period last season. This season his lack of experience and poor judgement has been exposed - in terms of tactics, selections, signings and formations.

It is a huge leap of faith to believe that he will come good - can't see much evidence for that tbh. JCR & McCourt livened up proceedings on Sat but we still lost and failed to score. Trying young loanees failed, miserably & constantly messing around with the team never works. Some of his choices up front are simply woeful. We are now relying on geriatrics at the back and in other positions too - not sure what the strategy is at all.

If we are prepared to settle for mediocrity at best and possible relegation battles for the next few seasons then fine. Many won't and I'm not sure how long we can afford to hang to Derry & Abbott before it is actually too late. Having said that, there is no guarantee of success with a new appointment - the best managers are in work, so he ain't going anywhere soon. As I say,we are stuck with him in the short & medium term, for good or bad. I hope things turn for the better - and soon. Our position after the Rochdale game will be intriguing. If it is worse than now then I'd say we are going down to the wire tbh. If it's better then we stand a very good chance of avoiding the drop.

I think most people are Sick and Tired of getting a new manager after every, a  12 game miserable run. Keep him in charge for at least, his contract Expiry date.

Remember we have a buget that is 18th in the League. I don't think people will accept Mediocrity or Floating in the Trenches. But as has been said,  the Future looks brighter than it did 2-3 Years ago.

We'll be in the Black either next season or the one after. and that's Big

As a neutral I think Derry has done a cracking job for county so far ok the results are not going the way the should, He is trying to build a good squad and has plenty of experience and youth within the squad.

But like every club the 1 key thing you need is STABILITY.

I think the main focus now is to just finish above the relegation zone.

Bradford (H) - Rochdale (H) - MK Dons (A) - Scunthorpe United (H) - Walsall (A) - Coventry (H) - Yeovil (A) - Barnsley (H) - Crawley (A) - Preston (H) - Doncaster (H) and Gillingham (A).

At least 12 points should be ours if we played well, if we could fix things a bit more (defence/discipline) then we could pick more up. My concern is I don't expect anything from Bradford - Rochdale is a maybe and MK Dons if we beat them then I would buy more than a Forest shirt @jsrjay. I mean you never know but these remaining fixtures are tough.

Come on COUNTY smash the DONS

Fixture run looks pretty grim, I don't fancy guessing on if Derry will stay. Personally I just want to see him do well which he has to be fair this season but he needs to do better.

Derry will survive, I am sure of that.

Should we change manager? I do not think so, he has my support.

I think one day derry will turn out to be a very good manager but he needs the time to learn by his mistakes.

What notts needs is stability and in derry i think we have a manager who loves the club and his prepared to give that stability but at what cost does the club stand by him?

If they are prepared to stand by him no matter what then they must give him the tools to do the job in league 2. If we get relegated and we have more budget cuts then im afraid a rookie manager on a shoestring budget isnt gonna work.
