In support of Stanley

@Northants PieΒ I can reasonably verify that @NewNottsFanΒ has the inside track re Jamie.

An interesting quote from MC on Stanley....Β

I've had a chat with Aborah. He comes back into the reckoning as much as anyone. If he can help us, he'll play"

@Joe Jones: I bet you, if Aborah returns to the first team at home - we'll win that game as I said! If this is the case, you have to come regardless of how Notts perform in games until the end of the season (bar Tuesday night games).

The first game in which he returns (that is).

I've read elsewhere that Colin Slater said on Matchtalk that some of the players were opposed to Aborah rejoining the first team squad. Β Maybe Stanley isn't the poor innocent victim many believe he is? Β I hope Cooper quickly sorts this issue one way or the other.

I'm pleased to see someone say he's a 'good player', Craig Cope the data analysis at Notts didn't word his opinion that well to me and a few fans who was the last to leave after Jamie Fullarton was sacked.

Opinions will always vary but anyone who knows football will see he's a good player.

@notts-joeΒ The same data analyst that went down with Cheltenham!!! The player is "good", perhaps Craig Cope had his vision blurred by Jamie. How many of our other midfielders are guilty of misplaced passes, missing tackles, not tracking back quickly enough...

@Piethagoram I felt that way, he seemed rather clouded as to his opinion on Aborah v Fullarton.

It also made me realise where the Post had got their opinion on Aborah from, as for me Aborah's been a very good player for us. Largely consistent over other places, some of which barely get reprimanded for making mistakes. At least Cooper is starting with a clean slate.

@notts-joeΒ I always felt too the Post story was "planted". Most supporters are not stupid..perhaps player recruitment should be based on Supporters player of the year at other clubs.. Hoping Stanley puts in a good performance tomorrow even though he cannot be fully match fit

Colin likes to have his say on almost everything, what is true and his opinion is sometimes difficult to tell.

Why would a data analysis have any input on team selection, or deciding if a player is good enough or not?Β

Your questions are best put to him, I can't answer them but he gave his opinion on pretty much the whole of the saga. I say 'opinion' but it wasn't expressed like one, however that's how I took it. I realise tensions was high, he may have fault sorry for JF but I didn't buy much of what he said anyway.

SA has some quality in his calmness on the ball in difficult positions, in my view is a good outlet for defenders with maybe limited distribution skills , so for me can help them by being available to receive the ball and we go from there, in a 5 man midfield he will rock I'm sure , glad he is back in the fold , also good PR from MC nothing like getting the fans bang on side , having said that think all notts fans are in his corner anyway , coypΒ

Quite right, the single biggest decision Cooper could make to get the fans even more onside is to get Aborah back in the team. Β I hope he can find a combination around him to utilise his creative ability and cover (in my opinion)Β his defensive shortcomings. Β It may well mean only one up front tomorrow, but that's a common formation away from home in this division, and it can work with the right support from midfield. Β At least there's some sense of optimism about this game which I don't think would be there if Fullarton was still in charge.

A few players that I've seen , particularly defensively , aren't good enough for this level . A lot made about the size of the squad and I think even MC realises that whilst he has some quality in the squad , there have been players signed who won't cut it longer term for a variety of reasons. I think he'll play a 3-5-2 (5-3-2 at times) tomorrow with the two 'extra' players being more defensivelyΒ minded I.e. A Hewitt/Sharpe/Adams type rather than say Snijders/Banton

I thought it was good on Aborah to acknowledge the support we gave him throughout, some players just ignore the support - I know some will just get on with the game but it really helps both them/us when you can encourage each others support.

Stanley did okay today for someone who doesn't want to play for Notts County.

I think Stanley has realised how much he is appreciated by the fans, so will hopefully put in a few performances worthy of winning POTY this term, because there can't be anyone else in the running.
