That's what he will be used to as the manager title, head coaches are exactly that.

Did you listen to his interview yesterday @Magic magpie? He spoke about seeing himself more as a coach than a manager, if he's going to be involved more with the players it can only be a positive thing.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

It can be possitives but I hope he will have a hand in players he wants to bring in.

I'm sure Harry Kewell is the manager, he speaks like an American doesn't he.

I don't know if that's an Australian thing too, but he says a lot of things that sounds from there,

A field where dreams become reality.

He definitely said he wanted to be a coach (not a manager), he said he was more concerned with on the field affairs.

They both mean the same thing, so i don't think it really matters which one he calls himself

Not really the same thing @cheeky~k8, Kewell as head coach will be responsible for everything on the field, training, tactics, picking the team etc. A manager manages the club as a whole taking care of players salaries, negotiating signings etc. as well as on field.

I would imagine the new Director of Football along with Hardy will deal with those off field issues.

I beg to differ @Bainbridge NCFC Here are just two I chose at random, Mansfield Town and Peterborough both have managers.

According to Wikipedia but when you see clubs playing being interviewed etc they all say head coach.

@Bainbridge NCFC if you look at Mansfield’s own website Flitcroft is described as Manager and on Peterboroughs website Evans is described as First team manager and Paul Raynor as first team coach. However on Notts County’s website Kewell is described as manager but he says he’s head coach. :huh2:

I’m lost now, I still say there are differences between the two, Head Coach is just concerned with the footballing side whereas a manager will manage the whole club as well as the team.

I’m off for a lie down now my head hurts. ????

I think you go on what he has said. He is the head coach and Paul Hart will be DoF to do the rest and take clear of the whole club.

They are two different roles imo.

@Fan of Big Tone with new owners coming in and directors etc you now have head coaches because as some have said managers have control over other things where as most now just control training, players, etc and higher authorities deal with contracts etc

This is a growing trend that is happening across the Premier League.

Majority of oversea managers are referred to as the head coach, some say manager but most seem say head coach. Does it really matter? He is the manager in our eyes and that's fine.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

@CliftonMagpie it doesn't matter really mate, but it just takes some power away.

Not directing it at you mate.

He will do what he's comfortable with and the rest can be dealt with by someone else more knowledgeable. For me it leaves Harry Kewell more time to focus on the players, opposition and what needs to be done.

I am confident that Harry will focus on the field and have some say in the financial/day to day management tasks.

It's vital people work inline with him.

His success will be down to how he works with others, the players, staff and chairman. I don't worry about titles, just results.

I think it could work well, I know that AH has studied how other successful clubs are run and so has restructured the club. I feel Paul Hart adds the experience needed because Kewell is still very much learning his trade.

Lets hope the new structure is a success.

does anyone think the fact that harry kewell has a twitter account played a part in ah bringing him to meadow lane?

it seems different that the club has gone for a head coach and someone with reduced duties, which i think will be good but alan hardy seems obsessed with the media.

I didn’t know he was on twitter, I’ll have to follow him.

To answer your question no, I don’t think it was a factor in his appointment, AH appointed Nolan and he hated twitter and wasn’t afraid to tell AH.

it gives the club some more reach, im not saying it was the main reason but ah seemed obsessed with hk.

there is some unknown reason why.
