Game 22 - The Terras (A)

Team: Weymouth

Date: 30/01/2021

Where: Bob Lucas Stadium

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

Weymouth have won their last 2 games against Hartlepool and Aldershot. Both Hartlepool and Aldershot had a man sent off so that helped. Weymouth have won 4 games out 18. Just the kind of team Notts struggle against. See Dover (I still shudder at the thought of that defeat). I expect Notts to win this one but it won't easy. I think we'll need to be patient. 2-0 to Notts is my guess.

As long as he doesn't play JOB, Doyle and Reeves together from the start we should be OK, but can see us giving away a sloppy goal. 2-1 Notts, but if Weymouth score first 1-1.

Good win for Notts, there's something to build on now but with the uncertainty of the league looming over. Will this be another false dawn? Great goal by Sam, if he meant to shoot or if it was a pass it brought all 3 points home.

Notts can run at times well when someone decides to take players on, I wished it would happen more often because even if the player doesn't score like Sam did, it should open up play or intimidate the opposition. Being clever with the ball like this makes games from eventless to somewhat rememberable.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Points wise we can’t complain as that’s 7 points from 9 in 7 days. However performance wise, and I mean in an attacking sense I’m a bit worried. We won that through a flukey goal, yes we dominated possession but chance wise again we didn’t create a lot…

You can't really complain about another win and another clean sheet - it's ultimately better than playing pretty football and then dropping points due to defensive frailties. Teams that win promotion tend to be the ones that pick up "lucky" wins by the odd goal on a regular basis. If you do it enough, it's not really luck...

The plodding midfield bothers me, as does the fact that, for all our possession, we don't really do anything with it and rely on moments of individual quality (or, yesterday, a lucky cross-shot) to unlock the opposition instead. On the other hand, if you keep clean sheets - and our defensive record has been superb of late - a single chance could well be enough. Whether that's enough to compete for top spot remains to be seen.

We concede 0.76 goals a game. Torquay 0.85.

We score 1.29 goals a game. Torquay score 2.00.

That suggests that no, it won't be enough.

Stats don't mean much, they change all the time and its form which is the main thing. The win over Weymouth was a good result, it could've easily been a draw.
