Welcome Sid

Featured Replies

The legendary @Sid, nice to see you've finally made your way onto PoN. I can remember having a brief chat on here with magwales regarding certain fans, he mentioned you. I hope you like PoN, it will take some time to get used to but the 'New Content' button really makes things easier.

I look forward to seeing your contributions, see you around Sid.

Thanks for the welcome. I seem to be banned indefinitely on 'that other site'. In any case, I said I would

never return as long as Cream Crackers was in charge.

My main reservation with this site is that it appears rather bland and everyone is a bit too nicey-nicey.

Now whilst I oppose personal abuse (and MAD had far too much of this) I want to honestly express myΒ

opinions, even if they are in a minority.

Right now, for example, I feel especially bitter towards Ray Trew. He is the central reason for our decline

and I refuse to join the sheep who declare him a wunnerful man who saved our club. Don't believe a wordΒ

of it. The man has the charisma of a toaster and makes decisions a parrot would be ashamed of.Β

We've all had our moans Sid, there's nothing wrong with voicing your honest thoughts and you haven't seen posts by my brother yet! You might change your views on 'nicely-nicely' but with more members the views will end up being more balanced.

As-long as we remain mature and respectful, there's no issue at all.

I certainly see you bringing some humour and laughs to our site, nice to have you.

Don't worry about having a minority view Sid what I have found since joining the site is that people's views are respected for what they are, a personal opinion.

What you won't find is people being personally abused because they have a different view.

For the record I don't agree with what you say, Ray has made mistakes he has admitted that but I still have nightmares about what would have happened had he not bought the club, I don't see people queuing up to buy the club off him and take over.

I think it is sad that you think it a bad thing that people on here are nice to each other :-(

Well @Sid, you can even disagree and have a damn good debate being nicey nicey. perhaps doing somebody, even somebody with a differing view the common courtesy of respecting them for having that belief or stand point, is what separates us from the animals.

A few too many of which escaped from the zoo, and inhabited MAD.

Β

I welcome your views, they are probably going to be different from mine, the only part of your life on MAD I did not like was the constant picking up of grammar or spelling. I do my best at putting words down in the correct manner and with the correct punctuation, but similarly I can understand what people are saying without the need to pick them up on it.

Capeesh B)

Not sure if this is the topic (or not!), but I think RT would be the first person to accept that he's due some criticism.

Β

I'd suggest it's a lot harder than it looks to run a football club and that as long as the owners' hearts are in the right place (i.e. acknowledge that the fans were here before they came and will be here long after they're gone and that football clubs are unlike any other business for that reason) then they're due respect for helping keep the club alive.

Β

My feeling is that (even though it's still too early to say for sure) Notts will have been a FAR richer club for the Trews tenure than they would have been without it - and basically you can't hope for better than that even if there have been mistakes on the way. Let's face it: we haven't been made to wear a red shirt, or put up with Shebby "Β  :hyper: " Singh, it could be a lot worse!Β

fwiw, I agree with PTID about spellig and punktuation: language as expression rather than dogma :)

SID,give us tha opinion on whatever tha likes as long as tha dusna get persnal or abusive. We're thick skinned 'n' c'nΒ  tek it. 'Ave a laugh or a dig.It dusna matter ter us.We're a daft lot on 'ere.

Β  Seriously ,you are entitled to your opinion on any subject.

Β  Regarding the Trews- would you put your hand in your pocket and give as much as they have.?It's worth thinking about!

I would not walk into a pub and voice my opinion on it being 'nice', until I had at least frequented it a little more. Opinions will be split and vary, I think as a community like pon it is refreshing and perhaps a little harsh to respond so rashly regarding something which is hardly negative. There is one thing you will learn, that is if you allow yourself the time. You will be respected for having opinions and not belittled, certainly a far better sign of respect that.

Welcome to the community.

Welcome.

I think with modern football the way it is, I am very skeptical about football owners.

With a lot of them, it is never their fault, always someone else's. While I appreciate the money Ray Trew has put into theclub, I think his overall management of that investment has been poor.

Ray Trew's constant sacking of managers and his periodical criticism of fans point to the thought that he doesn't believe anything is his fault.

Hello Sid, I wondered if you might pop up on here at some point!

I've heard a couple of people mention about this forum being 'too nice' (that's an oxymoron to me but hey ho) but I think you need to understand that at first, friends or acquaintances of the creator of the forum perhaps join first, until it gets going and then the wider community start to take part.Β  That in itself then balances out the viewpoints, as has been happening on here.

Β

It will be more closely moderated than mad I think, but having spoken with Joe via email, I know his vision isn't a site that is overly familiar, but one that provokes debate and critical thinking when it's needed.

Β

I appreciate your journalistic skills and I'm sure you will be one of those that will provoke debate.Β  I always saw that part of you on MAD, and knew that 'Sid' was a persona.Β  As you know I also disagree with a lot of your views.Β  I'm certain you won't have a problem with that.Β  However,Β  was the last sentence of your post really necessary?Β

Β

Still, I'll enjoy arguing with you, of course I will.Β  Welcome

Ah, Sidley! Welcome aboard matey. Great to have you amongst us.

For the moment we are spared the vitriolic AWM, the arrogant, rude and coarse StuTNB & the inconsistent, jaundiced Jacob.

This is good place with varying opinions but a good natured and light hearted approach - a bit like MAD in the "old days" before all the brown nosing, offensive and bullying fraternity emerged.
