  1. I don’t think the style or formation will change dramatically; in fact I’d be really surprised if it did and I don't want to see it change either! The Bros have finally given the club an identity and a style of play is almost expected now. It’s finally about continuation, building on the works of the previous head coach not ripping everything up and starting again. The Bros have a specific profile of head coach they’ll be looking for and it will be in the exact same mould as Ian Burchnall and Luke Williams. Gone are the days when a manager comes in and bemoans that these aren’t his players and he needs at least 2 or 3 transfer windows to get us up to scratch. The new head coach should be able to hit the ground running as these players will already match up with how he wants to play. They’ll be slight differences, every coach is different, I’m just really keen to see the high press stay as a big part of our identity! And fresh ideas around defending won't go a miss either. Also we’re so low on fit players at the moment, there’s not much you can do to change the starting 11! That said I’m looking forward to see Robertson in action, I don’t think Fleetwood’s direct style of play suited him. By all accounts he’s a player in the same mould as Bostock and Palmer, so I think he’ll fit in here perfectly.

  2. So we know that Luke has gone and we wait for a new Head Coach to be appointed. A New Coach brings new ideas, new tactics, possible changes in shape, style of play & changes in the team. What would you like to see from a new Head Coach? Will all the players get a new lease of life or might we see changes in the starting 11?

  4. If the brothers past 2 appointments are anything to go by, we're unlikely to know who is the running until the appointment. No doubt the usual social media culprits will claim they are 'in the know' but they'll likely know diddly squat. The only way we tend to find out about these movings is if we're after a manager currently employed and the leak will come from the other club, see Altrincham and Swansea.

  5. Notts County 1 Man United 0 First Division April 1984, featuring Trevor Christie & Ian McParland. A great win over Manchester United at Meadow Lane. Great memories watching this from my regular place on the County Road side Iain McCulloch broke his leg in this game which sadly ended his Career.

  8. I feel like the loss of LW has the potential to disrupt us a bit. I think the quicker we get a new head coach in the better. Happy for Jim to take the reigns for the meantime but I don't really expect too much from him, I'm hoping he can lead us to victory in the short-term, but it's a big job for someone to take on with limited experience and at the start of their coaching career. I still think we can finish in play-offs though. The new head coach will have a real tough start, could potentially be in for Stockport and then it's Barrow and Mansfield. In Feb we've got Wrexham and Bradford away as well as facing Crewe and Wimbledon! Looks like we'll get all the tough games out the way and should have an easier run in.

  9. The season begins again with a New coach interim Head Coach in place & waiting for a Permanent Head Coach to be selected. We reset the results and start again. Twenty two games left. Everything to play for.

  10. @Super_Danny_Allsopp I agree. It will be probably a relatively unknown coach And they won't rush it either. Hope Jim gets a couple of games in charge. It will be good experience for him

  11. I don't expect to see any massive change in the way we play, nor the formation. The recruitment team are still signing players, manager or no manager, as proven before with the signing of Langstaff. Those signings are naturally made to fit a certain role and position. What we are likely to see are smaller changes in player instructions, positioning etc.. Also, he may fancy some players in certain positions that Williams didn't. The goalkeeper position and back 3 will be interesting to see who he picks.

  16. We had a fabulous day with our son and family yesterday, we set off early for London on the train and had lunch in a posh restaurant which cost an arm and a leg but was very nice. Then we watched the afternoon matinee performance of the musical “Operation Mincemeat” in the Fortune Theatre which is a lovely quaint small theatre, the show was great there were only five actors but you wouldn’t have known as the scene and costume changes were very slick making it seem like a larger cast. If you get chance to see it I would highly recommend it. Afterwards we walked back through the bright lights of London to St Pancras Station stopping off for a drink before catching our train with reserved seats back to Nottingham. What a fabulous Christmas present from our son it will live in our memory for a long while.

  17. I think playoffs is our most realistic target to be honest, but that will depend on new signings that still need to materialise. I’m currently expecting a defeat next Saturday but would take a draw just to stop this wretched run away from home at the moment.

  19. I remember the news about the sentencing of certain Sub Post Masters, but I didn't really know much about it until around 2010. One of my favourite YouTube channels did a video on it. you know once multiple people have the same issue something is happening, and I don't see why they would suddenly start stealing money. The ITV drama is very good. I watched all the episodes earlier back-to-back, and it's a good crash course in what went off. Will Mellor was nice to see in it, I thought he did well alongside Toby Jones. It makes you mad to think such a naive cover-up can happen, without avoiding so much suffering. You're the only one experiencing the problem, no support and just trying to punish people without checking the facts. It's real madness. I strongly believe that Paula Vennells should return her CBE. Whilst ALL workers involved at board level and senior management at the time of the scandal should face a real investigation as to what really happened. Without any of them facing punishment, there isn't a lot of justice. Yes, it's great they stood together and managed to get some money back. I am under the impression not much of it was actually awarded and the Royal Mail continued to try to delay the payment, meaning further suffering. Additionally, if it's true claimants who have passed on end up losing what they're entitled to without it going to their next of kin, then something else is fundamentally wrong. If we die owing a debt, you can beat someone will be pestered over the debts. Back to the series on ITV, it reminded me of their 'The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe' which was also excellent. Only criticism would be it felt rushed as four episodes; I think a fifth would have helped it, but that's just preference.

  20. It is @liampie, it is a great watch on ITVX and it really does strike home how terrible the whole affair was. I actually used to get Computer Weekly delivered to me free, and I remember reading a little about it at the time but never really took much notice of it, it was only when this programme started that you start to learn some of the facts and the more you read, the more shocking it becomes! It also now appears that the police are now starting to investigate it.

  21. @Fozzy i was going to ask if it was about the drama that stars toby jones? i have been meaning to give it a watch but i dont remember what channel its on. i read that it was based on a true story but knew nothing about it before that.

  22. i am moping around my home right now, i will be coming off my computer in favour of trying to watch tv. its quite cold out and i cant be bothered to drive anywhere. with no football and the weather i lack the motivation to tempt myself out. tomorrow i will be picking my mum up, then driving to my aunt and uncles but otherwise its a no thrill weekend without football.

  23. they could temporarily open up a water park. the flooding is terrible tho, i hope its not caused them too much damage. for a small club its hard to pick up from disasters like this if you are unfortunate to experience damage.

  24. i hope we go back to a 4-4-2, but have a manager that can command a switch in formation to suite how the game is progressing. i think this would be the best of both worlds picking up from previous managers. it would also give us a bit of movement with the injuries we have as we are very restricted playing the 5-4-1 formation. it does not allow us to change much with the wing backs. going to a 4-4-2 would give adam chicksen and richard brindley their strongest positions back. aaron nemane, jodi jones will also be able to play their usual attacking focused game with less pressure to drop deep.

  25. @Piethagoram i was like who is that at first but i have listened to two interviews from him, one from a tour and this. i think he speaks well but would he come to us for a chance to gain first team managerial experience? i am not so sure.

  27. When the new Head Coach comes in with his new team all of our players will be given a chance to impress the new gaffer, in training and on the pitch. The recent set of poor results under the previous coaching team could be put down to a lack of confidence. A new person at the helm will immediately give all the players a lift and by implementing new ideas, tactics, style of play and shape, it could immediately give some of our players a new lease of life, and help them to continue to challenge for a first team place. Of course we will get a fresh intake of players too, so this will increase competition for places. I'm confident that the New Head Coach will put an end to the poor set of results from the team and lift everyone's spirits for the final half of the season.

  29. The forthcoming season for Notts County seems to be one marked with optimism and a keen sense of something big on the horizon. The comprehensive inclusion of fresh, talented and experienced players showcases a solid strategy of growth and focused ambition. Players like Jodi Jones, a out-wide and recent arrival, who's been welcomed for his remarkable impact on Notts, sets a pace for the season ahead.
