After some feedback, I have decided to shake the forum categories up and structure things differently. I will be amending each section's description to make it clearer what should be posted within each area, as a means to remove any confusion. Also, we could consider creating forums for different sports apart from football. Should we opt for a general sports forum or split them up? I'm still very much in the process, but as always feedback is important.2 points

13 January is the anniversary of the death of Æthelwulf, king of Wessex in the ninth century and father of Alfred the Great. If Æthelwulf were alive today, he'd almost certainly play the PON prediction league; however, he's dead. This is where you lot come in: predict these matches by 3pm on Saturday, and you might win some points. And remember your jokers! Huddersfield Town v Plymouth Argyle Millwall v Middlesbrough Northampton Town v Wigan Athletic Reading v Port Vale Wycombe Wanderers v Lincoln City Accrington Stanley v Gillingham Doncaster Rovers v Newport County Eastleigh v Southend United2 points

@Fan of Big Tone I was trying to figure out where best to place it. I have decided to place it as a sub forum to the 'Match Talk'. I didn't think leaving it inside the 'English Football' forum would be a good choice. I'm quite content personally with the layout, so I will begin to update the descriptions.2 points

There’s no need to hasten Matt Palmer’s return, despite how much we miss his skills, as it could result in further complications. We ideally need him to be as fit as possible. To prevent additional injuries, I’d be more content knowing he’s aiming to return for the next pre-season. It gives us time to adapt to the injury, but at least he’s making progress.2 points

This is disheartening news. Sven did Notts a massive favour when he attempted to find a buyer and forgave the money he was owed by the fraudulent Munto. I hope he surpasses the expectations.2 points

he was walking in november and looking like he was able to do so without fuss, training is different and so is playing but its all positive signs. i dont feel we need to rush him, allow him to make a return when he is 100% better. pre season for the 24/25 season makes sense provided that doesn't put strain on him. i would rather us give him longer to make sure hes completely fine once he does return to action. players of ours in the past have been rushed and we always regret it, the reedtz understand that players need time and have given their managers chance to bring in replacements. all very positive stuff.2 points

i think giving him a start would be a good idea, just to help him settle in further. i mean we dont have to give anyone a rest because of the break we have had but it would be good to see how he slots into the team. i think new signings should generally play when possible, otherwise it just because a concern to fans like we had with ollie tipton and lewis macari where people think he wont be good enough. also due to the fact it helps new players settle better imo when they kick straight on.2 points

I remember Matty Gill, Gary Mills played him out of position, transfer listed him and he quickly became a target for the boo boys. He didn't have a good time with us, but went on to have a decent career. However, both of our appointments under the brothers have had experience as the number one, so I can't see it happening. As for Stendel, he led Barnsley to promotion but didn't pull up many trees after that. He's currently managing the B team of Hannover 96, who are top of the Regionalliga Nord, Germany's regional fourth division. Not sure how I'd feel about that. But the owners tend to look at coaching credentials rather than the managerial track record, otherwise Luke Williams wouldn't have got the job.2 points

Matt Gill was awful @menzinho, I think Gary Mills signed him which says it all. But most times it’s the not so great players that make the best coaches, so who knows who it will be. We’ve all guessed but I bet hardly anyone gets it right.2 points

Sorry, @Piethagoram. I hide the forum it was posted in as a way to slowly move the posts in which are located inside (in bulk). I have relocated it properly now. You will be able to see it again.1 point

On Brexit, I don't agree with you, but we do have something very important in common, we both love Notts.1 point

@Ohh Tommy Johnson we'll just have to agree to disagree on Brexit. My number one motivation to support Brexit was to regain back sovereignty & live by our laws, not foreign laws decided by 27 out of 28 Countries. Brexit gave our government the opportunity to take full advantage of the freedom that Brexit gives us. A global UK that looks to the rest of the World to freely trade with. The World economy & GDP is increasing, and we have to tap into that. whereas the EU economy and GDP is decreasing as a share of World GDP. Whether successive Governments succeed or fail in taking advantage of Brexit will be down to those governments. Not Brexit.1 point

Really pleased with this signing. I know it might be just a game but this has been my go to first loan signing in the past 3 editions of Football Manager. So I hope he's as good for Notts in real life as he has been for me on Football Manager. However, you do have to wonder when Tiernan Brooks will be given an opportunity. I read a comment on twitter that made me chuckle with agreement that read something like he'll be 30 and still being sent out on loan to gain experience. It just seems that whenever there's a chance he could grab an opportunity, it's taken away by bringing in a loan goalkeeper that puts him further back in the pecking order.1 point

I agree we need to move on, but Brexit will never work. What is Brexit for a start - it is a collection of slogans; 'taking back control' (whatever that means), 'sovereignty' (whatever that means), but nothing of substance. It is interpreted as different things to different people, so there is no 'one direction' to pull in order to make things work. There was no plan, there is no plan and until one party has the courage to say 'this is what Brexit means, vote us in on that basis' we will forever flounder in the sea of international politics and economics. It was built on lies and so is destined to fail.1 point

I wouldn't normally delve into political talk on here because it's a Sport Forum, but I think Sadiq Khan needs to concentrate on fulfilling his domestic Mayoral duties, rather than delving into affairs that is not in his remit. He has too many problems in his own backyard that he needs to sort out. There was a democratic vote in 2016 to leave the EU. The UK voted to leave & I believe it's time for everyone including all politicians to pull together to make Brexit work for the Country and it's people.1 point

@Fozzy i like how cedwyn scott presses so much and how frequently he wins the ball back from attacking positions, he forces mistakes which seems so unnatural for a striker. i know macaulay langstaff is similar but he is more pressure in terms of kicking the ball away. these two would make a great duo which i dont think we have seen enough off since they signed for us from gateshead. i think our form away from home would improve if we had them both starting, yet again i am mindful just like matty palmer that we dont rush him back into action. i am sure he will start when ready.1 point

lovely goal! its funny how footballers seemed to almost walk with the ball even when sprinting back then. i love the clips like this and what the youtube channel notts goals i think is uploads.1 point

It was a decent interview, though I believe Jim O’Brien might struggle to maintain the role if it extends beyond a single match. We appear to be taking our time with the appointment, which could be beneficial. It’s also reassuring to know he has the backing of two other coaches. However, he does seem a bit anxious to me.1 point

I reckon he will go on the bench and replace Austin / Bostock in the centre in the second half. That will allow JoB to do the coaching role.1 point

@DangerousSausage The club are saying next season. I think it's still a long way from basic strengthening to starting running to training fully.1 point

This man is such an important player for us. When he got injured we were never the same. His return will take some time but it's great to see him back doing some fitness work.1 point

I remember the news about the sentencing of certain Sub Post Masters, but I didn't really know much about it until around 2010. One of my favourite YouTube channels did a video on it. you know once multiple people have the same issue something is happening, and I don't see why they would suddenly start stealing money. The ITV drama is very good. I watched all the episodes earlier back-to-back, and it's a good crash course in what went off. Will Mellor was nice to see in it, I thought he did well alongside Toby Jones. It makes you mad to think such a naive cover-up can happen, without avoiding so much suffering. You're the only one experiencing the problem, no support and just trying to punish people without checking the facts. It's real madness. I strongly believe that Paula Vennells should return her CBE. Whilst ALL workers involved at board level and senior management at the time of the scandal should face a real investigation as to what really happened. Without any of them facing punishment, there isn't a lot of justice. Yes, it's great they stood together and managed to get some money back. I am under the impression not much of it was actually awarded and the Royal Mail continued to try to delay the payment, meaning further suffering. Additionally, if it's true claimants who have passed on end up losing what they're entitled to without it going to their next of kin, then something else is fundamentally wrong. If we die owing a debt, you can beat someone will be pestered over the debts. Back to the series on ITV, it reminded me of their 'The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe' which was also excellent. Only criticism would be it felt rushed as four episodes; I think a fifth would have helped it, but that's just preference.1 point

My site manager, who's a Birmingham fan, messaged the group chat earlier with the message directed to me as "Rooney's available mate " Whoever the Reedtz decide to bring in as Luke Williams replacement, I trust that they'll make a good appointment.1 point

I've seen on his stats that Scott doesn't get many goals. Hope he can come into central midfield and he can improve our defensive frailties. We need a ball winner in our final third who's tenacious and hard working.1 point

@Piethagoram would love 2 new centre backs but I think with Macari signing the best we can hope for is one more. Hopefully a solid one would bring the best out of Baldwin and make him more consistent. Tipton to return surely has to happen and can see Gosling going for certain. As for Brooks, I think all the fans would like to see him given a run, but I’m not sure if LW will gamble on him.1 point
-
@Fozzy My wish would be for 2 new centre halfs, one middle, one LCB Tipton to return to Wolves, Brooks to be new #1 in goal1 point

On paper he looks decent, but I’m not going to get carried away until it has been confirmed as it isn’t very often that paper stories on Notts transfer targets are right. I’d like to see a new centre half signed in the first week, followed be a midfielder second.1 point

Thanks for the update and continued efforts with the site, I am enjoying the content and would note it was missed during your time away. I realise that it was needed, I am just thankful you came back with the passion you always have displayed. Considering the time, nobody could fault you for needing longer, lad.1 point

It’s great seeing so many members engaging with the community. The post goal reaching green so many times is really wholesome to see! It’s nothing short of great. Thank you for all your efforts, @Chris.1 point
