After some feedback, I have decided to shake the forum categories up and structure things differently. I will be amending each section's description to make it clearer what should be posted within each area, as a means to remove any confusion. Also, we could consider creating forums for different sports apart from football. Should we opt for a general sports forum or split them up? I'm still very much in the process, but as always feedback is important.4 points

@Robbie Yes, of course. I still aim to go through the forums just to ensure things are in the right locations. This is something I should have done before now; however, it's good to have it all settled. The refresh looks fantastic.4 points

PS. @ChrisI posted an article on Nottingham Panthers in the Granny Pies Gen Discussion Forum. Wonder if that post should go into the other Sports now?4 points

Sorry, @Piethagoram. I hide the forum it was posted in as a way to slowly move the posts in which are located inside (in bulk). I have relocated it properly now. You will be able to see it again.4 points

I saw his interview on East Midlands Today. He looked quite different, and it was horrible to see just how much he had changed. I know, he's 75, but he's always looked rather healthy. It's such a shame; I really wish him and his family all the best. I don't feel it's appropriate to share an image of him from the interview, but for anyone who saw it will understand what I mean. It's awful! When I worked at Harts Restaurant and Hotel, I met him many times and due to our first encounter whenever he was in - he would ask to say hello to me. The first time I met him, I froze and thought that I would be sacked instantly because I was working as a kitchen porter. I had to fetch something from the store room and, the general manager hated kitchen staff being seen in the lobby areas, but there was no other way to access it. The head chef used to pop his head out of the kitchen door to see if the coast was clear for us 'unseen workers'. It just so happens that I was wearing an old Notts shirt (plain white), I was coming down some stairs as I noticed Sven walking from the direction of the men's room. I was overwhelmed and a little starstruck. We're not supposed to interact with dinners or guests, he walked up to me and said "Hello", I didn't reply. He said, 'Oh, I see. You support Nottingham County;. I replied. 'Yes, I support Notts County.' He asked me how long I had supported them, he replied 'I like Nottingham and Nottingham County. He also enquired about Forest, which is where I politely mentioned that it is Notts County and Nottingham Forest, informing Sven that people wouldn't like it and would pick up on it. He thanked me and asked if I would be watching the next Notts game. I told him I would be working, but I do make games when my rota is free. A little side note, one of the other times Sven spoke to me, I mentioned that I was floating the idea of taking my Notts forum more seriously. It was him, who told me to do it. I called @GrannyPie on my break and told her about this, briefly speaking to @super_ram. In 2006, I started a basic forum under the domain notts-county.co.uk. It was just family and select friends, quite a simple setup. It merged into the Pride of Nottingham. I'm very thankful for the kindness Sven showed me because it proved what a gentleman he is.3 points

Let's hope he isn't a L1 or Championship newcomer this season too!3 points

Macaulay's move to a higher level this season hasn't prevented him from doing what he does best, scoring goals. Fantastic stats for a League 2 Newcomer.3 points

This is cool! I'll have a look at the new structure when I'm on my PC. Regarding the prediction league, I was thinking last week that it would probably be better as a subforum to Granny's forum. I probably wouldn't put it in a Notts section as it isn't really Notts related. Will moving the form affect email reminders? As for sports, I think an"other sports" subforum would do, as they rarely get talked about and having too many inactive forums would clutter things up. We could always tag the corresponding sport in case people want to search it.3 points

I haven't paid much attention to the forum's index page, but reading the discussion, it sounds very productive. I would agree that a general sports forum would be best until we know if any deserve their own, but I think that might be some time off yet. Let's continue to make PON a good option for fans to chat.3 points

Yes, Notts Women's team now has a forum for all their discussions - including any match based ones. So if it's related to the ladies team, that's where it goes. I have also added a general sports forum. Thanks, @Robbie. ---- Additionally, I have updated all the forums descriptions. On the community index page, Notts forums are at the top, followed by PON, then All things related to sports. English, Domestic World Football, International and the 'Sports Stage'. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/community/forum/27-the-sports-stage-everything-outside-of-football/ Admin announcements are at the very bottom, partly to encourage people to view the bottom end of the site and because I like using the announcement feature to pin important posts, which makes it more convenient to have the section out of the way. As suggested by @Burnz3r0, I will also rewrite the welcome message new members get sent automatically - along with updating the introduction section.3 points

@Fan of Big Tone I was trying to figure out where best to place it. I have decided to place it as a sub forum to the 'Match Talk'. I didn't think leaving it inside the 'English Football' forum would be a good choice. I'm quite content personally with the layout, so I will begin to update the descriptions.3 points
-
@Chris did you mean to put the prediction league into PoN Insider section? It seems a strange choice.3 points

For now, I will add a general 'other sports'. If content within this section demands it's own forum, I will extend to this way within time.3 points

Very sad news intensified by the local and personal connections.I wish him and his family strength at this very difficult time.2 points

Fantastic stats for a first season in the EFL. Expectation was always gonna be high on him considering how many goals he bagged last season. It took him a bit of time to get going at the start of the season which led to criticism and mocking that he couldn't step up but he's managed to prove doubters wrong. I have read a few rumours, how true they are I don't know, that we've already rejected a £3m bid for him and Bolton are keeping tabs on him if they sell their striker. I'm hopeful that we can keep him for a while to come but if he were to go somewhere else, I'd expect a really good fee.2 points

Yes, there's no rush to see Matt Palmer return despite how much influence he has when he plays. The injury needs time, so that he can come back sharper and resume his role as our brain in midfield. It's great to see him back training to strengthen his legs etc. He must be hating not playing, as he seems someone who would play every day if he could, but it is important for him to be ready for his return. From our perspective we don't want it to lead to further injuries. So, I am pleased but mindful that it will be awhile back I see him wearing our shirt again on the pitch. When he does, we'll need to blast his chant to show our appreciation and support upon his return, even if it is a pre-season friendly.2 points

If we can gain promotion, it may take him a bit of time (just as it did this season) but there's no denying his quality. The thing which enables him to adapt to playing higher up, is his work ethic and relentless desire to do well. It also helps that he's so down to earth. When I saw calls for him to be dropped when he hadn't scored in a few games at the beginning of the season, I felt it would have been a huge mistake because it was simply down to chances. Dropping a player like Macaulay Langstaff to me seems a very negative move, because his instinct is to have efforts on goal and to surge of the chances which present themselves. He's by far more than a poacher, fox in the fox or tap in merchant. He's such a good talent, that it's hard to believe he was playing park football with his friends before making his move into the game. Our ambition must be to grow alongside him, but at some point unfortunately he will move on.2 points

im not a big rugby fan although i thought it was interesting to see them connected with notts. whilst i think it was an excuse to blame them for our own results, they did rip our pitch up. i hope they manage to do okay with what has happened due to flooding.2 points

Nottingham RFC recently had their ground flooded and damaged during the recent adverse weather. The club have had to postpone their home matches at 'the bay' due to the flooding.2 points

A great start to the year just as he ended 2023, Draper will face Czech Jiri Lehecka in his second successive ATP final, having ended 2023 as runner-up to Adrian Mannarino at the Sofia Open. Joe Salisbury & his partner Rajeev Ram reach the Adelaide Doubles final with a fine win.2 points

Happy New Year to all of you! It's a pity I missed this, but things have been good here in Texas. My home is now completely renovated, and I just have to sort out the land. I won't be doing much of that myself, but I will be enjoying 2024! Happy New Year to all of you. I hope each of you has a good one.2 points

When do you take yours down? I don’t go with all this twelfth night business, I’m not superstitious, we took ours down today as we hate to have them around in the new year so they are now banished back to the loft.2 points

@Piethagoram belated birthday wishes to you! The decorations is @cheeky~k8 department, I would have them up all year round - along with most of our children. Don't listen to Super, nobody ever complained about him taking them down, it was more complaints about getting him to actually put the things up. I actually miss helping to sort and find them, it always brought the Christmas excitement with it and made my parents home feel all the merrier around that time of year. Besides, Super could be like Scrooge in more ways than one.2 points

Yes, I suspect the form is mostly down to what unfortunately happened to Adam Johnson. I don't think a death such as that would be very easy to just continue with, as it happened live and was quite graphic. I haven't watched the Panthers live yet, but I have always wanted to go watch them.2 points

He looks like a player of the right age, just waiting to fit into a team like Notts. If he settles in well and works hard, he should prove to be a good signing. I have heard he's got a bit of a bad attitude from fans of his former club(s). I usually wait to make my own judgement, but it's always interesting to see what people say. Personally, I think it's a good signing.2 points
-
Really pleased with this signing. I know it might be just a game but this has been my go to first loan signing in the past 3 editions of Football Manager. So I hope he's as good for Notts in real life as he has been for me on Football Manager. However, you do have to wonder when Tiernan Brooks will be given an opportunity. I read a comment on twitter that made me chuckle with agreement that read something like he'll be 30 and still being sent out on loan to gain experience. It just seems that whenever there's a chance he could grab an opportunity, it's taken away by bringing in a loan goalkeeper that puts him further back in the pecking order.2 points
-
There’s no need to hasten Matt Palmer’s return, despite how much we miss his skills, as it could result in further complications. We ideally need him to be as fit as possible. To prevent additional injuries, I’d be more content knowing he’s aiming to return for the next pre-season. It gives us time to adapt to the injury, but at least he’s making progress.2 points

I'm sure the recruiters had this guy on the radar when Luke was at Notts. He would have been one of the players on the short list to acquire. And Luke would have input too on who he wanted. Let's see if he is selected for Grimsby. That will tell us a lot2 points
-
Yeah it's interesting the brothers clearly don't just look at win percentage, neither IB or LW had particularly great records before coming to us. I'm not too fused if the new guy is in a similar situation. The more I think about it the more I can see it being someone like Brian Barry-Murphy, in that he had 109 games in charge of a Rochdale but his record on paper doesn't look that great. However look at where Rochdale are now, they've just bombed since he left so it was clearly not a well run club he was managing at. This is the kind of thing the Bros will look into and they'll find out how he really did there. There's clearly much more to it than just win %. But it is an odd thing that some people do get hung up on. I'd imagine a lot of other owners do and wouldn't have thought much had Luke Williams applied at their club. Now they all know it was a massive missed opportunity as he was available for a couple of months before we got him!2 points
-
According to the OS, Brooks is being loaned out in Ireland again. I've no idea whether this bloke will start on Saturday. If LW were in charge he might have, but the interim management team might be more reluctant to rock the boat too much. Does anyone remember him playing for Aldershot or Crawley? Some of Crawley's fans don't seem to rate him too highly, but we shall see. Hope he's given a fair chance!2 points
-
he was walking in november and looking like he was able to do so without fuss, training is different and so is playing but its all positive signs. i dont feel we need to rush him, allow him to make a return when he is 100% better. pre season for the 24/25 season makes sense provided that doesn't put strain on him. i would rather us give him longer to make sure hes completely fine once he does return to action. players of ours in the past have been rushed and we always regret it, the reedtz understand that players need time and have given their managers chance to bring in replacements. all very positive stuff.2 points
-
I think he will be on the bench as well this weekend. Our style needs understanding between our players and I don't think they will have this at this stage. I think it's less important for the goalkeeper, but I think it will be a couple of weeks before we see him.2 points

@DangerousSausage The club are saying next season. I think it's still a long way from basic strengthening to starting running to training fully.2 points
