It was great to see us play in a way that allowed Notts to create good chances. The only real difference was the excellent saves from James Belshaw. I thought we could have scored more, but the performance was what we needed, and the result showed that.2 points

It looks much better now. I like how the display picture shows when a user is online. I know it used to just turn green, but the pulsating wave makes it more noticeable, and to me, it doesn’t interfere with anything.2 points

It’s tricky because there are genuinely lots of very good candidates like you say. Jatta and McGoldrick have led the line very well, and Didzy has played in the deeper role and been just as effective there too. Bass has been very good but there have been a few games where he hasn’t actually had a lot to do. Platt and Bedeau have come in and just helped to completely change our defence. But I think because some of his early season performances were outstanding, Crowley just takes it for me.1 point

This cannot be allowed, it's a slap in the face for the loyal supporters of both clubs. Just imagine if we do a Bournemouth, we're in the Premier League and then our owners start pushing to play league games halfway across the world...1 point

That’s a shame the picture is too big, sounds lovely though. I’ve got a walk that I occasionally do round a lake in the woods near to where I live. I went last week and the colours of the orange leaves against the clear blue sky were very striking. I noticed the shops were noticeably busier with youths loitering around when I went out for my lunch break, so it’s half-term round here! Quiet week for me but I’ve got a Halloween party on Friday night which I’m dreading. It’s my girlfriend’s work that are doing it, so I won’t know anyone and dressing up just isn’t really my thing anymore. I really don’t understand how Halloween has become such a big event over here, I kind of understand it more for kids but for adults to actually celebrate it, I find it very strange.1 point

Erik tan Hag's sacking has been on the cards for months. The Man Utd owners demand success, & unfortunately the Premier League Title has continued to elude them since season 2012/13. Since then the PL title has been dominated by Chelsea & City rivals, Man City, so the owners of Man Utd are getting a little impatient. Van Nistelrooy has taken over temporarily, however Utd are understood to be looking for a permanent appointment & one of those possible replacements is former England Manager Gareth Southgate. Whoever takes charge will have a tough task to bring success back to a club who's team is regularly underperforming, considering the value of the squad is thought to be over £1Billion. Whether the new man will get funds to rebuild the squad is a matter of conjecture. The funds will have to be quite extensive to attract some of the best players in the World to this famous club. Luke Williams, the manager of Notts County, has opened up about his relationship with the club's owners. The club is trying to get back into the Football League. Alexander and Christoffer Reedtz, who bought the club in 2019, have transformed Notts County from top to bottom, with the aim of returning to the EFL this year. The brothers have kept the club financially stable while improving facilities and breaking attendance records for National League fixtures. Williams praises the Danish brothers for their commitment to bringing the world's first professional football club back to where it belongs and hopes that this season will be a turning point in their journey. The Magpies' success this season can be largely attributed to their recruitment strategy, with several summer signings making a significant impact in their climb to the top of the standings. This season, Notts County has brought in 11 new players, each contributing to the team's remarkable success. Notable names include Macaulay Langstaff, who has scored 32 league goals, John Bostock with his worldwide experience, and Sam Austin, who provides endless energy and desire. The recent loan signing of Connor Lemonheigh-Evans from Stockport County further demonstrates the Magpies' success. Williams' management style and the owners' ambitious vision are in perfect alignment, resulting in the positive results achieved this season. The manager is pleased with the clear decision-making process surrounding transfers during his short time in management, citing the relationship with the Reedtz brothers as a key factor in Notts County's success. "First of all and the most important thing to understand is that this is not about backing me and giving me what I want," explained Williams. "This is about what they want as well and this is a very new concept and I understand that for a lot of people, but believe me, I am not having to go to people in recruitment or to the owners and ask them that I want this, and I want that, far from it. "They are so ambitious that they are telling me that we have a player that we think is perfect for what we need - they watch every minute of every game and see how the players are performing. "They know after my morning meeting who is struggling with fatigue and other issues, they can also watch training because they have a live stream to that because we have no secrets with each other, so they can watch my staff and players at work all the time which I think is amazing. "You can look at this in a big brother way, which is wrong, or you can look at it like these people are really invested and want to see everything, they are desperate for us to win. "It ranks at the very top from what I have seen, right at the very top. "Many times you have the staff and the managers asking that we need this or need that and meeting a wall of resistance sometimes - I have also seen a scenario where one wants to sign a certain player and the manager doesn't agree with that one, and then you have an uncomfortable situation, all of these things I have seen which are really common, conflict and different agendas, but we have none of that. "We are desperate to win across the board and a keen eye on what we have in the building and a keen eye on what we can potentially bring in to strengthen what we have, for me, it is the best possible environment." Magpies' manager Luke Williams has stated that Notts County striker Macaulay Langstaff has proven his worth by being the first player in England's top five leagues to score 30 goals this season. Langstaff's hat-trick against Yeovil made him only the third Notts player in 73 years to achieve this feat. Langstaff has been likened to Manchester City's Erling Haaland this season and dubbed the "non-league Haaland" for matching his accomplishments. Williams praised Langstaff, stating that "He's just brilliant" and that "It's pretty impressive, and he deserves it because he has scored every type of goal." Langstaff scored the opening goal against Yeovil in the fourth minute on Saturday. However, it took two injury-time goals from Langstaff and a late penalty from Ruben Rodrigues to win the game. His two goals in the 94th and 95th minute marked his 30th goal of the season, with 13 league games remaining. Williams jokingly remarked that he would have preferred Langstaff to score earlier so that he could have been substituted. However, he praised the striker's performance, stating that "He was fantastic and that is why you leave him on the pitch when it's tight, because in the blink of an eye, he can change a game." Langstaff stated that he was "buzzing" to reach the 30-goal milestone but added that he did not set targets for himself. He said, "I don't set targets. I just look at the end of the season and see where my goals are and see if I'm happy or not. As a striker, the normal target is 20, so if you get that you are really happy. To have 30 with 13 games left, I'm buzzing with that return." The last Notts County player to score over 30 goals was Lee Hughes, who scored 33 in the 2009-10 season, while Tommy Lawton scored 33 in the 1949-50 season. Langstaff said it was an "unbelievable feeling" to match these highly-regarded players. Join in with the Pride of Nottingham community, by visiting our dedicated dashboard page. Not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me. I don't think he liked us much, going right back to his days at Bristol Rovers. He was playing for them when they controversially beat us in the Leyland DAF Trophy semi in 1990, so maybe relating to that? There's been a lot of needle between us and Rovers ever since.1 point

Given the injuries, this was a great 3 points. Notts dominated but Harrogate were dogged. They are a difficult side to beat.1 point

Excellent result, another clean sheet but it sounds like we could have had more goals.1 point

A consecutive clean sheet for Notts at home. Notts had loads of chances in both halves, but they got the one goal that mattered by Alassana Jatta with a Nick Tsaroulla assist. Notts were without their main playmaker today, Dan Crowley, but all the Notts players did a great job today. What a difference between last season & this. Notts are so solid in defence, & when you are that solid you only need one goal. Over 24 attempts on goal today for Notts against 5 by Harrogate & just remember, seven players out injured & 3 games in 7 days. The clean sheets are mounting up. Long may it continue. And one more thing. The Inverted Wingbacks are working.1 point

Very interesting lineup for sure. McGoldrick will have an even bigger role in possession now as Crowley misses out. This is the game where Brown gets his first Notts goal. COYP!1 point

Yep, following on from @Dripsey3's info, Harrogate have only won 1 game away this season at that was a 1-0 win at Colchester (who aren't very good), they've drawn 3 and lost 2. And they've had a pretty easy set of away games up until now too as the only decent away team they've played is Crewe (3-0 loss), the rest were teams in the bottom 8 of the table! Can't go into it thinking it's an easy game, even though on paper it is, because that's when things tend to go horribly wrong. We are pretty good at batting off these mid to lower league teams though so I'd be disappointed it we didn't win because even with or mini-injury crisis we are still have enough quality to get a good result. I'm hoping to see us more on point and fluent in attack like in our earlier home games this season.1 point
-
Harrogate is a place I'd like to visit. Anyway back to the football..... Harrogate have scored 11 goals in 15 games. They have conceded 18. This is a game Notts should be winning but I think it will be tighter than expected. Port Vale had to battle hard to beat them last Tuesday, that was at Harrogate though. We have to win these games at home. That's the harsh reality of it. I think we will. 1-0 win.1 point

The important games are coming thick and fast for Notts at the moment. The game on Saturday against Harrogate will be another tough one for Notts to navigate. Key areas will be our defence, midfield & upfront once again. The injury situation is unclear & Maynard didn't really mention it in his press conference. If the players who recently picked up knocks against Wimbledon are now available, this would be my team for Saturday's match. Bass Macari, Platt, Bedeau Gordon,Abbott,Palmer,Tsaroulla, Austin, Crowley, Jatta Subs. McDonald, Slocombe, Martin,Brown, Robertson McGoldrick, Reynolds Just one striker tomorrow to begin with. I've put Didzy on the bench but if he's not needed I'd rest him. Notts need to be up for it from the start. We can't afford to keep conceding early goals My Score. 2:0 Notts.1 point
-
At this particular time. I don't care how Notts get a result. I just want a positive result by any means available. It doesn't have to be pretty or cultured or attractive. I just want Notts to be mean at the back, strong & physical in midfield & take their chances up front when they become available. We have to remember we had seven players unavailable for the Barrow match, including our best player & several important squad members, who would have started the match if they'd been fit. Notts just have grind out results if necessary & the pretty football can go on the back burner for now, & get to the end of the year in touch with the leaders. Stop the opposition scoring & you only have to score one to win. That's what Notts should be aiming for at this time.. Aim to win at home, try to be undefeated away & get the odd win. That's a good recipe for success1 point

Reading the Comments of other PON Members in this Section. Aren't You All Fed Up Of Continuingly Repeating Yourselves? None of Us are Professional Coaches But We All Can See Where the Magpies are Going Wrong and We continue to Ask Why The Hell Can't Stuart Maynard? The Answer to That maybe look at the Magpies Current League Position, despite the Fact in some Games this Season Where Notts have Ridden Their Luck, the Dice seem to have Fallen in the Magpies Favour. They shouldn't have gotten a Point at either Chesterfield or last night at Barrow, but somehow they Did and as long as Notts Keep getting these points or Sneaking a Win, expect more of the Same Playing Wise. It seemed that Maynard had begun to Mix things up at the Start of the Season and it paid off Handsomely, but for some Strange reason the Notts Head Coach seems to be Going Back To His Old Bad Habits, so what is it going to take him to Switch Back? Have Notts Got To End Up Getting a Right Good Old Fashion Thumping or losing Matches on a Regular basis? When the Fans start getting on Maynard's Back Again? Regarding the Harrogate Match, I Think Another Boring Draw or Perhaps Notts Might Just Scrape a Win.1 point

We play too defensively half the time. We need to try to push further up the field and make use of our creative players to create more chances. I hope we opt for a more settled back three. I would also like to see Jatta and David McGoldrick start in the lineup.1 point
-
Based on yesterday's performance, I believe we need to focus on putting the ball into areas where we can take shots. Instead of trying to walk the ball into the net, I found Notts to be quite unimpressive, and I think Harrogate will aim to defend tightly and block our attempts. At this point, it’s clear how much Jodi Jones is thinking about how to adapt to the opposition, yet no one seems to be doing the same. We can isolate Jatta and expect him to take chances, but yesterday he rarely had more than two players near him. No one tried to create space, draw a defender away, or open up opportunities for others. This is something we really need to start doing.1 point
-
it needs to be ruled against because its a disadvantage to other spanish teams that are not as big or glamorous. it also makes zero sense for it to be played anywhere but the rightful home teams ground. its things like this i dislike, save them for friendly games.1 point
-
It was a nightmare at times, the chances Notts had that just wouldn’t find the back of the net. Then Gillingham scored and the game started to fall apart. Notts played well. Sam Austin’s goal furthered the horrible dream-like feeling as I noticed nothing wrong and to see it disallowed is just crazy.1 point
-
It's been a rule that if a player kicks a ball away, or holds onto for a prolonged team as a means to prevent the opposition would result in a yellow card. I remember Alan Shearer being sent off for tapping the ball as he passed it for Newcastle, which Shearer called ridiculous in his post match comments. However, it's been something referees haven't been consistent with. The rules state that once a free kick has been awarded, the opposition shouldn't touch the ball or prevent it from being taken. I assume these changes are just more stricter guidelines, but I can see it being conveniently forgotten at the lowest level.1 point
-
Hopefully the players actually get the yellow cards since in the lower leagues the refs usually seem to just let them get away with it again and again.1 point
-
The new rules should be good in the end. It was a bit frustrating that Nemane and Cameron (?) were stood on the sideline for what felt like an age (I didn't realise the rules had changed), but I think it will stop players just going down to disrupt the other team. The fact that Arsenal scored so late may also point to the fact that time wasting can come back to bite you and may help stamp that out too.1 point

When @Chris first told me he was starting a Notts County fan site I was a bit (Very) concerned about the type of response he might get.I was even more concerned when he invited me to join.I pointed out that there could be individuals joining with the sole intention of causing mischief, stirring up trouble or just being generally disagreeable and abusive.I was very pleasantly surprised that when I did join I was made so welcome by so many Notts fans and I've never felt like an outsider. I try and join in ,give advice or be there if I can and although over the years there have been a few silly fallouts this site is still a very welcoming place to come to.There are so many posters I look forward to reading.I love the banter and humour, as well as the more serious football and social comments(and I must not forget the all important PREDICTION LEAGUE ) I may not have met many members personally but I know that a lot count me as a friend and I certainly count them as friends. This was never shown more evidently than with the amount of love and support given to me and all my family with the passing of my wife, @GrannyPie. That really helped and meant so much to me. I;m so glad I joined.1 point

I know people at games as i said, but i just sit by myself. i do say hello at times and everytime someone speaks to me. i consider @Chris @super_ram @GrannyPie @cheeky~k8 @super_pie @william1984 @CliftonMagpie @TheSkipper to be friends. everyone who regularly contributes to pon are people who i like to see, i might know people personally but i would say i am friendly at least towards them.1 point

Ah, it's where I'm going wrong, you see. I just love a bit of banter! There are many members whose opinions I actually like to read, but that's about as far as it goes. I've met Chris on a number of occasions, and I don't know if he realises this, but I respect his passion for the club. Other than that, I don't know anyone on the site. Sure, there are a few folks I go to games with, but these days, I'm dragging more people to matches who aren't into football. I guess it's just the way it is, I'm a bit of a lone wolf on the forums. But hey, I'm not one to complain. As they say, it's quality over quantity, right? And I've got quality banter for days.1 point
-
I have a tremendous amount of respect for the PON boss Chris; I would call him a friend. Liam is also a great person who only wants the best for his friends and is by far one of the nicest people I have met. Clifton Magpie is a pal for sure; those two lads are brilliant! We formed a friendship on Pride of Nottingham. It's something I have tried to put more effort into as I don't really know anyone else, but I miss Granny Pie, who on occasions asked me about my life and how I was doing at university. I would say both GP and Super are people who express friendship without really knowing me as they should. I am trying to make amends for that now with Super. As I say, I am trying to be more community-focused and will at times send a message to a member's profile just to say hello.1 point

I feel like I’ve made more friends here than a lost puppy at a dog park. Seriously, you guys are friendlier than a golden retriever on a sunny day. And the Super One? Top-notch guy. I hope to get to know more of you before this season is over - even if you’re all secretly wondering why I’m here. But hey, like a raccoon in your trash or a bear stealing your honey - you’re stuck with me for now.1 point

I'm not sure if I have too much free time on my hands, but I recently relocated from a Sheffield-based publishing company to work for a content creation company in Manchester. My move will make it easier for me to attend games, as I previously had an apartment in Leeds when I was studying at university. During yesterday's game, I couldn't help but notice that there weren't enough chants for the players. I found myself reflecting on the discussion I initiated about reducing the pressure going into the playoffs. I've come up with three chants, but I'm not sure if they're great ideas or if they'll catch on. Nevertheless, I'm interested to see if they'll be sung, and I hope no one will steal credit for them. Ha ha. To the tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In": Oh Cadwyn Scott, he wears the black and white, Number 19, with pace and might, Scored some goals, he's quite a sight, Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite! From left to right, he'll run all night, Defenders shake with fright, He'll score a goal with all his might, Oh Cadwyn Scott, what a sight! Notts County's number 19, He's in his prime, a goal-scoring machine, With his skill and football mind, Oh Cadwyn Scott, you're one of a kind! To the tune of "La Bamba": Roberto Chicksen, he's our left-back star, Runs down the wing, he's faster than a car, With his left foot, he hits it hard, Roberto Chicksen, our superstar! He's got the skills, he's got the pace, He's always first to win the race, When he takes a free-kick, watch it soar, Roberto Chicksen, we want more! In the black and white, he's a sight to see, Defenders quake, when he's running free, He's got the moves, he's got the flair, Roberto Chicksen, we'll always be there! So come on County, give us a show, With Roberto Chicksen, we'll never say no, From the back to the front, he'll take us far, Roberto Chicksen, our superstar! To the tune of "Guantanamera": Luke Williams, he's the man in charge, Leading Notts County, oh so large, With his tactics, he'll take us far, Luke Williams, our shining star! He knows the game, he knows it well, With his team, he'll always excel, We'll sing his name, with pride we tell, Luke Williams, he'll lead us well! From the dugout, he'll guide our play, To victory, he'll show the way, With his passion, he'll light the flame, Luke Williams, he's why we came! So let's cheer on, with all our might, For Notts County, we'll fight and fight, With Luke Williams, we'll reach new heights, Notts County, we're black and white!1 point

i hate when things like this are leaked, it makes you wonder who would do it because nobody benefits. it just makes countries like russia, china and north korea more paranoid. its just a stupid thing to do, which if something like this is done, better protection of keeping it restricted should be prioritised.1 point
