Andy Cole - England
ian wright, teddy sherringham, dion dublin, les ferdinand, robbie fowler, chris sutton, kevin phillips, stan collymore and andy cole could have had more international caps then they got. fowler for me was more of a threat than cole and very unlucky not to have been featured more for england. the options up front for england in the mid to late 90s were a joke but most players needed to work well with alan shearer which is why some did not get as many appearances.

Midfielder Charlie Colkett to Notts
i am more than happy to give him a chance as i think the club sees him similar to dan crowley, but a more fitting replacement for matt palmer. when i read that we had signed him, i automatically thought he would be more a bench player if he was not do well off the bat. its one of those signings you cant say much about until you see them play. thanks for your insight @shrewswill.

Alassana Jatta to Notts
@Ohh Tommy Johnson @Robbie adebayo-rowling looked good going forward towards the end of the williams era, but even he seems to be unlikely to start. i dont think jatta should play as a wing back but if he is a forward who can play as a striker or on either side, it would suggest he may fall into the wing back category. thats why i think its a shame that he does not play as a secondary striker or someone who plays a bit deeper. the signing could very well see him being a bench player, as macaulay langstaff wont be dropped. i would rather us sign players who can come straight in but we have the issue that some of our squad are very unlikely to be dropped. junior morias should be ahead of any new signings in the forward department if fit.

Match Discussion: Game 31 - The Stags (A)
i fear mansfield, i am more optimistic about wrexham as we can control them better. mansfield at meadow lane just overloaded us and i think at their ground they will do the same again. i would be happy with a point. not that a win would not be great, it would but i dont have that expectation. a smash and grab against mansfield would be very pleasing.

European Cup Final. Real Madrid v Eintracht Frankfurt. 1960
i get the ball was different but the players from way back then would need to live the lifestyles of modern players, otherwise no matter how good they were it would be very one sided. football has evolved from these days and much of the success now, is owned to the players of the past. this is a great nostalgic clip, i wished fans were as supportive as back then now, because too many fans dwell on mistakes for far too long.

Crown Island, Nottingham
my aunt and uncle used to live on ringwood cresent which is very close to crown island. old pictures of nottingham are something i like to see, it shows things were like before and that comparison can be very interesting. i dont like crown island either. ????

Alassana Jatta to Notts
i was hoping that he might be comfortable playing as a secondary striker, but it looks like we might just play him similar sam austin or most likely a wing back. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alassana-jatta/profil/spieler/631704 his main position seems to be a striker but nobody will nudge macaulay langstaff from the top and we only play one striker. so it would have made more sense to sign someone who can play a bit deeper like david mcgoldrick. i am obviously assuming its true and that we will sign him.

Pontins League March 1996 Leeds v Notts
was this a development league for reserve players? the pontins league sounds weird.

Wrexham v Notts ( Season ticket holders priority sale on Wednesday)
@ARLukomski i have also made every league game so far this season. i really have enjoyed doing the away games, there is a sense of togetherness and everyone creates a party type vibe. i do think the earlier excitement which was amazing has massively dropped over winter, its nowhere near the standard that had the club and players acknowledging us. i would be disappointed if the wrong fans got hold of tickets, including people through having a season ticket holder friend because it should be season ticket holders only first. no exception.

Notts County V N Forest, 3rd Sept 1910. Notts's First Ever Match at Meadow Lane.
interesting to see the programme/ notes from that game. it must be a rare sight and hopefully its something the club will look at having in the museum they spoke about even if its a replica.

First visit to ML for a long time on Saturday
good to see someone with no loyalty to either club talk about the game, the audio can be a touch on the quiet side at times but its good overall.

The Next Five Games, Season Defining?
form can always change but with the managerial change it is crucial we pick up points now in stead of later, our form is not that bad but away from home its been needing attention for the most part of the season. if we can get some more points on the table. two home games i would say between 3-4. away from home quite possibly the same. i would say 4-5 but we have not picked much up on the road, at least not wins.

Notts County Embraces Change: Stuart Maynard Steps into the Spotlight
i absolutely agree with you @TheSkipper, its very early days and we cant read to much into the barrow game but defensively we did look better. it will take time but i think maynard is a good fit and if we can help him settle in quicker, i think the results will come. away from home will be his biggest test but i am happy with the appointment.
-
Maynard in NLP
i do think for once it is the ideal appointment because of how he did at wealdstone and how he had them setup. we looked a fair bit better in defence against barrow, not perfect for the time hes been here we could have easily lost that game. i think the signs are promising, giving players a fresh start and lifting their confidence may be the base of his starting point here. stuart maynard really is a perfect fit and i am glad we managed to get him. those notts fans still upset over luke williams leaving, its harder on wealdstone.

The San Sirrel 1927
the family stand from the picture looks like an old fashioned school building. plus its nice to see the houses that were stood behind the kop and pavis stand. its a brilliant photo.

Buonanotte goal for Brighton
good goal, funny commentary. overseas commentators always tend to have vocal heart attacks when they see goals. this you can enjoy, but when they do it even for the less exciting goals it makes laughable.

Klopp to leave Liverpool
leicester city went downhill when they started paying their players far more money than they deserved after winning the league. money ruins football, i think they should have sold vardy to arsenal and cash in. claudio ranieri transformed them and deserved longer if they had, he might have kept them up instead of them falling down. likewise, jurgen klopp has done well without throwing money at players. i know they have spent a bit in the last two seasons but its balanced by who they have sold. teams these days will want the best players in the world, that almost guarantees success. everton had a spell where they looked highly likely of finishing in the top six, they got praised but it was due to spending. unfortunately this is modern football. our own success is down to spending money wisely and competing competitively against other teams. we are not one of those teams who are fortunate enough to be able to replicate accrington stanley or barrow. we have a great attendance record and good squad, because we have used our resources well.

Stuart Maynard picks his first Notts Team
i would have given jaden warner the start over richard brindley. at times brindley did very well going forward, but he made some defensive errors which were a little difficult to overlook. a better could have punished us. i wonder if we could use brindley as a wingback or defensive midfielder if we needed? his time here is looking uncertain otherwise because i do prefer a proper centre back there. he did well in the middle for a time but i dont think hes defensively consistent enough to warrant the start.

BFI Old Market Square film 1951
not a delivery person on a bike to be seen, people carefree and what watching where they are going. everyone smartly dressed and looking happy. this looks like a magical world lost on people my age and under. the video is incredibly fascinating, i did notice that people did not mind the camera and just walked on mind their own business. these days there would be more than dont telling them not to film people. ????
