  1. its scary to think how much losses the top teams down to the championship make, what is more alarming is how the higher amounts are falling down the leagues. it wont be long until many league one teams are losing such high amounts. football needs to take better care of its finances.
  2. if it works for him and fgr so be it, cotterill clearly is a manager who likes control of his own future. director of football can help, but i dont think many lower teams are setup right enough for them to work. the money is better spent on players.
  3. friday i ended up doing more overtime, with all the layoffs that have been occuring its put a burden on those who have remained. im very against the reduced staff, but at the same time i want to make sure things are handled well. besides extra pay is never a bad thing, its going to be put to good use. ???? i went wrexham saturday by myself, @CliftonMagpie has been unwell and @TheSkipper was not able to get down to nottingham in time. i actually enjoyed it, despite the awful officiating. sunday i fetched my mums shopping and stayed over for sunday dinner. in the evening i went out with my dad and uncle for a couple of drinks.
  4. to be honest, i think it was handball. at the time i felt it was very close but i think his arm movement before and after does not help his case. yes, when the ball hits him its very close to his shoulder, but for a brief moment he raised his hand and i think it touched just under at that moment. i have seen another similar goals disallowed.
  5. @Robbie i felt the same, as i mentioned when you joined i am on the autistic spectrum and have found making friends difficult. i have here and its great to see new members come on board. i wished more fans would be open minded, dabble in the conversations for a week or two and just give it a proper chance. there is plenty of room for social media but pon is very much more notts county.
  6. not enough minutes to judge him fairly, but i cant say anything against his part in playing against wrexham. at that point in the game you are just seeing it unwind.
  7. well if swansea were to sack luke williams anytime soon, i would be very disappointed for him. the club needs to rally behind him more and the players, because from what i keep reading their issues come from much higher up. williams needs to be given a transfer window to get rid of players and to bring in new faces that perform better than the existing underperforming ones. a lot of common sensed swansea fans are saying their issues has always been with their defence and being unable to score.
  8. i have said it a few times before, i found pon via twitter. back then i was a very young teen and found myself unwelcome on it talking about notts. i had comments being very unpleasant, so i thought i would give this site a try. @GrannyPie was very quick to make me feel at home, always did and I found myself having a lot of respect for her and @super_ram. @Chris has also been very supportive, but its due to gp and super that I felt welcomed almost as if they actually knew me. as i grew older, i got to them gp and would chat on here and messenger. when i was involved in an accident at work, gp was the first outside my family to reach out to me. i felt very saddened when i learned that gp has passed on. i am thankful of her friendship, as i am with all of her family. they are all good people.
  9. i am pleased for stuart maynard, i feel certain that this will be the boost all needed. its been awhile since we last won away from home and that probably crept in at our home games with everything else going on. macaulay langstaff was great, getting him more involved will lead to chances. very happy to see how we have responded after the Gillingham defeat.
  10. wrexham are a difficult team and are in good form, but they do have a habit of conceding goals too. defensively, notts needs to be strong if we are to see the game out. i dont question that we have the ability to score, but out scoring wrexham at the cost of poor defending seems unlikely. personally right now i think it might be a 1-1 draw, i would be happy with it.
  11. hes an incredible talent. for all the years we have wanted a young good striker that could finish well but also do other work on the pitch. its great to see him doing so well in league two. his success here as been a joy and i really want fans to appreciate his efforts but also enjoy it whilst he is here. this form will start to attract interest from clubs and those willing to pay a good sum may tempt notts to accept, but worry about this when it comes. now we enjoy his efforts and performances.
  12. by far the best performance notts has showed for awhile, even before macaualay langstaff scored we looked more organised and a threat going forward. i could not make out what happened with the penalty, but i agree with stuart maynard that it was misfortunate for us because we defended very well. there was times it needed to be a bit better, but it was never at the cost of newport looking like they would score from open play. i thought luca ashby hammond did well when needed. the tactics did make a difference with maynard tweaking things, newport did not react to it and it was just a good win. it felt like it was more of a step forward than just a win for a new manager. it gave hope and with our away form being so poor, at least we might improve on it.
  13. we all know jodi jones is a special talent, its great to see him assisting and scoring when he can. i think that is all he needs is a few more goals this season to his name, otherwise hes unplayable going forward. i love how hes confident and eager to get the results needed. if we go behind, he does not drop his head, if anything it makes him more determined.
  14. i wish you both a speedy recovery, its horrible when you pick something up on holiday and i know you were both looking forward to the holiday. i hope you managed to enjoy it, did you both become unwell near the end? that would be something at least.
  15. @Piethagoram i do think signing a striker for that amount of money could have been used to bring in more quality in much needed areas but i dont think we can write off alassana jatta. i do think his height may be a blessing, but again, the money could have been better spent.
  16. i think other teams are in better form than us, right now i think we are in a decline that is going to be difficult to get out of. its not something i am really worried about, as i think being stronger is more important. i would hate for us to go up and to struggle in league one, i mean we might not but injuries have impacted this season. i cant see our form improving massively, i think most games will be draws, with some wins and others ending in defeat.
  17. teams will always bounce up and down between the premier league with a few surprises along the way, maintaining long term success these days is hard. the playing field has never really been level but at least clubs like brentford are emerging stronger for thinking outside of the box.
  18. back in the day, i used to always be on here and @Fan of Big Tone was the person who would always be alongside me or even on before i came on. its great to see other members who have the time to get involved such as @Robbie. the impact this season has had with pon and the hacking, i think its made the community a lot more like a family which clearly comes from the top with how caring people are. i wrote yesterday off, i felt disappointed but it has not ruined my weekend. tbh i dont know what to do with myself today. i thought about going out on my bike but it felt too cold for that. i have mostly been sitting on here and reading comments, replying between other things. tomorrow, i need to fetch my mums shopping and then drive it over to her. i will be staying to catch up but then i will be going out with my dad and uncle as they have invited me to something.

i think the thing is that it would take a big turn around for us to suddenly start winning games, it might happen but notts feels like we are in decline. i am not being negative but realistic, as i dont know what the future scores will be. i can only go on performances and what i see, i think its a bit of a stretch to think we can win the majority of remaining games. to me i think we will fight, but fall just short. i dont think the season is over and it depends on how notts responds from this defeat but i am mindful that stuart maynard needs time and it just wont suddenly get better. despite this, i do feel we can reach the playoffs but thats if we go back to doing things right and how quickly we can implement those needed changes effectively. i am not a negative person, i try to think on the brighter side but i do understand why some may say there is no chance because the signs right now are small.
  20. yes, i am pleased for jodi because he works hard even when he might not be at his best performance wise. he still works hard to create assists and chances to get us on the front foot.
  21. i like tobi but hes not very defensive minded, he can make decent crosses and attacks quite well but where does he fit in with the other options we have? we need players like him roaring to go and to make an impact. brindley always tries, but defensively hes not a centre back. those are two potential releases. if jim remains as a coach at sheffield united, i doubt he would choose us over them.
  22. i can understand the frustration because it was poor to see how we performed after taking the lead, i would not say we settled for that goal but it was like we went through the motion of having scored to concede and then being afraid to go again. gillingham did well, they knew where we was weak and the first two goals show how teams are noticing the aerial threat. as a team we do need to mark better and try to win the ball back once we have lost it, we can pass around and have large amounts of possession but when we concede due to not pressuring the opposition it does make it more frustrating as a supporter. i am glad fans decided to leave, without venting their frustration after the game. there may have been some who did, but i heard no booing and no offensive comments.
  23. hello and welcome @Mapperley Pie, i hope you stick around and join in with pon.
  24. hello, @Wheelbarrow repair man. interesting username. welcome to pon! care to tell us a bit about yourself?
  25. hello, @Sophie d. welcome to pon.
