  1. some managers come into a club that is doing well and quickly want to change everything the previous manager did and i think its great to see that stuart maynard acknowledges that he does not have so much to do but take the reigns and slowly bring in what needs to be done. if he can improve the defence, then we should be able to start signing eieieieio
  2. i am still getting used to someone other than luke williams talking about the club. stuart maynard comes across as you would expect, he sounds like he has been watching the players train more than he has been encouraging them do things the way he wants. i am sure he is offering guidance but i think more of that will come from having watched a game with his own eyes. i am hoping he shows a strong touchline presence as this would be a huge positive. i thought luke williams did well most of the time on the sideline but ian burchnall and neil ardley were that great. they seemed more happy with how things were heading without any real concepts of seeing out games or changing them. i really hope maynard is stronger in this department as once we go two goals down it does seem the game is over, no matter if we can get further goals. we just go on to concede.
  3. its a good appointment on paper, he has a lot to do in order to secure forest green. you would have to say he is of the ability to steady the ship, but he cant be seen as a long term option. if he does well, he will soon jump to another club. if he fails, he will be dismissed. if he is average, then he might manage to hang around a bit longer but steve cotterill is known for wanting more and more resources. i do think he should be able to transform them but only for the short term, personally i think he is more an average manager these days. a very goo experienced manager, but average in terms of what you should expect. if forest green are happy to stay in the league under him i can see it happening, if they want to become a strong league two team i think could help with that but nothing long term.
  4. i suppose it depends on if he is of real quality, if he is like a callum mcgregor or jack grealish we would not say no. if hes not all that special or ready, i think we could afford to pass on him. it all depends how true the rumours is. just because someone drops notts, stockport and crewe in to the mix does not even mean he will be signed by a league two team on loan. i will hold my judgement for if he does sign and if not, i will come back to reply on my thoughts on where he does end up at.
  5. ???? i am not meaning to offend but haggis is disgusting, much of the scottish traditions like it are foul. they have done well to make it so widely common because i am not sure you can actually enjoy it.
  6. football really does need to start learning to operate a break even cost, or at least to an amount owners and clubs can afford to pay off themselves if danger lurks in. its very saddening to see all the clubs in trouble,
  7. i think its a game that we cant read to much into with regards to stuart mayard too. hes had time to instruct the players but to flush out any mistakes will take time, even if the performance is perfect by notts on saturday we should still be mindful. i am sure maynard will be a fantastic appointment but the next few games will say more about the squad than it would about him as our head coach. i am hoping that we dont change to much, i dont think there is the need for that. i am hoping jaden warner starts. it would be nice to see him. i think the rest of the squad picks itself and i think maynard may go with sam slocombe in goal if he is fit.
  8. Millwall 2-1 Preston North End Sunderland 0-1 Stoke City Cambridge United 1-1 Burton Albion Wigan Athletic 3-1 Stevenage Grimsby Town 0-0 Tranmere Rovers Swindon Town 0-1 Bradford City Hartlepool United 2-0 York City Oxford City 0-1 Ebbsfleet United joker
  9. baj was looking good prior to his injury, i thought he looked like he could make the centre back position his own and then the injury happened. i did not think cedwyn scotts injury looked that bad initially but i am glad both players are recovering well. i think cedwyn scott and matt palmer were very two players we have missed.
  10. this seems like a great achievement to have seen live, i suspect we were the underdogs and that fans were surprised that we won by so many goals. it seems jimmy had something very special with the players that lifted them for certain big games.
  11. pleased to see such a youngster doing so well at an amazing level, to get gold at that age is amazing. this as to be him and his family?
  12. i liked hayden mullins when he played for notts, i though his experience helped and when we pushed him into the centre back position i though he did well enough. it was a shame we did not have a bit more quality that season but he seemed a good player.
  13. is nottingham rockets the twentytwenty team? i prefer the shorter overs. not the biggest cricket fan tho.
  14. a bit overdue i agree considering. we never seem to issue much information about some players. the lewis macari and will randall issues seem weird. i am not suggesting they are not ignored but will for one seems to be injured more than he is ready to be selected. macari comes in and out, did well when he played and then mysteriously was not mentioned. very good video and update from notts.
  15. nottingham born @Piethagoram, a forest academy product. he did well for mansfield too when he was loaned to them. i dont know much about his time at wealdstone or what happened after.
  16. i have not watched much wrestling for awhile, i used to watch the attitude era on dvds when i was younger. i was not very much into the ruthless aggression era. it felt a bit forced and some of the wrestlers being pushed just had nothing about them. admittedly i also disliked the chav cena, it got him over but his persona after that was much better.
  17. how the hand ball was not noticed does seem very corrupt, as does the disallowed goal that was scored to make the game 3-1. the player was caught in the motion of being turned those things happen and unless it was done on purpose which i dont think this was leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the poor decisions. it seems they rely too much on var instead of watching the game. otherwise the referee and officials are just incompetent.
  18. the wage was probably a good living for them, but i do sometimes wonder what they would make of the fees spent today. if you could drag one from the past today, would they be bitter like steve cherry is on facebook or would they have felt they were worth it? those old boots where something to wear i imagine, let alone the leather pigs bladder.
  19. cal roberts was a special talent, unfortunately less after he kept getting injured but jodi jones is built of different stuff. he bounced back well and it might be unfair to compare roberts but i think jones has a natural desire to do well. he has a hunger which sometimes looks unhealthy but thankfully for us its that which often makes him a winnder.
  20. side note @Piethagoram i would love to see more of your photography either in the pon gallery for members or the magpies media. you have a eye for a great picture!
  21. it looks amazing, i wonder how long it took them to create and build it. i bet all the parts made it difficult too. the stadium roofs are not part of normal sets at least not what i have seen.
  22. for a player of that era he looks young and less like a gentleman which is just an observation. a lot of players looked like they did not get dirty on a saturday afternoon. this is a great part of our history.
  23. his height and pace should be of a huge benefit, the way he debut for norwich he did not really need to rely on those attributes. everything was from clever and tight marker, dealing with the threats before they became a problem. very pleased, i wish him well too.
  24. well done everyone, hope for some drama at the top end soon. it could be anyone from 1st to 8th realistically. we cant write those off who are lower.
  25. i think it was @Piethagoram who shared the video of jaden warners debut. it was a very good performance from him and i am a little surprised they are not going to back him by allowing him to play more in their own first team. i mean i get not rushing things but that debut gave him something to build on from for them. its really our gain, i just hope he plays and does well for us.
