  1. i think much of the reactions against sutton were caused by frustration, the way the sutton players behaved and got on to our fans would only in turn put the pressure back on our players. i do wonder why some fans consider themselves supporters but thankfully thats few and far between, twitter can be an ugly place for any football fans but i do agree that we are in this together. i would have the club to be in the jamie fullarton times again. despite the poor transfer window, its our first back in the efl and i am very thankful for the investment of our owners.
  2. @Wheelbarrow repair man why do we care about something that does not care about us, when we are debating this on a fan site that does care about the club? is this not redundant if the post thinks we are too small? the club should let david jackson or whoever is from the bbc ask the questions. they do a great job and will push questions which effect the club but unfortunately with the results, i guess the club are trying to do pr damage control. this is starting to form a different conversation though unrelated to tonights game.
  3. welcome to the pride of nottingham, i'm glad to be saying hello to you @ShannockPie.
  4. lets not underestimate sutton, we know they can do well against teams even if they are very inconsistent and are in poor form. they ruined our start of the season with their thrashing, so if there is any fight in the squad i hope to see it tonight. if we can get the points it would massively help stuart maynard, but anything else wont exactly benefit him. i am very nervous because portions of our fans will be vocal and its unknown if they will get more to be in the same voice. i hope we can just sing and encourage the lads, whatever is at fault for the downfall in form it was never really a maynard issue to begin with.
  5. if we can work hard and ensure that we are trying to create chances in all areas of the pitch, i think no matter what shape we or crewe play it should be an entertaining game at meadow lane. notts need the result a bit more than crewe, they have picked up and are in some good form. they will fancy their chances, as will we.
  6. i think scott robertson is settling into the role and personally i think hes a decent player, once he has been around our camp long enough i am sure we will see more from him but i also have to point out how honest he is about himself. he knows there is room for improvement, hes focused as a team and all these things are good to see in a player of his age.
  7. i bet over the years you have put much more than you have won in it, and i think that is amazing from fans who support the life line scheme. its something i wished i could get involved with but the spaces are never their and its restricted to a set amount if i am correct.
  8. welcome to the pride of nottingham @TruroPieSi. it would be great to learn more about yourself.
  9. i like that stuart maynard is not underestimating crewe, but even if they do mix their playing style within the game it shows how important our own game management can be. if we cant adapt well, we will lose the ground that we have created and most of it is all about pressure and creating chances. we have a very good squad, even if our budget is not in the top 10 of league two. we have to be smart when making decisions in game. im very much looking forward to seeing notts on saturday at meadow lane.
  10. well you would want players like mentioned in this discussion, over loans which never seemed to be given the chance i.e ollie tipton. we have no idea if he could have been a useful signing but because he did not play much and with luke williams never seeming to give him a chance it makes it rather a pointless signing. i think loans should only be explored in areas where signing a permanent player might not give us further strength in that position. i would rather see a good loan signing be made, than for the club to sign someone who clearly sits on the bench or out of the match day squad completely.
  11. i love this @Robbie, i always keep an eye out for pon's otd and other historical things. we have a popular facebook group where i used to post about former players connected with important dates or upcoming games. it was nice to learn about the history of the club.
  12. i am looking forward to the game, crewe will be a different situation to the last few home games and if notts keeps the right momentum i believe the result will go our way. if we see signs early on that macaulay langstaff is involved, then we should be able to make something positive from the game. dan crowley and jodi jones creatively should be our threat. i think sam austin would be a good call to be given a start, but i dont see anyone making the way for him. personally, i would put david mcgoldrick on the bench to rest him a little.
  13. i am inclined to agree, @Piethagoram as been calling for it and i think it does make a lot of sense now. he might also improve the defence which is something mentioned also. hopefully he continues to do well at rochdale and we dont get blind sighted. my concern is that if he does well, they or another club may want to sign him. the temptation of playing first team football must be strong and we should start giving him a chance once he comes back from his loan.
  14. the leading actor is the nutter from happy valley? i will give this a watch when i have the time to commit. if anyone thinks about googling the film title, don't just go here https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m001k3tw/mr-jones there are so many other similar named films. from the description it sounds very interesting.
  15. @Robbie i felt the same, as i mentioned when you joined i am on the autistic spectrum and have found making friends difficult. i have here and its great to see new members come on board. i wished more fans would be open minded, dabble in the conversations for a week or two and just give it a proper chance. there is plenty of room for social media but pon is very much more notts county.
  16. i am pleased for stuart maynard, i feel certain that this will be the boost all needed. its been awhile since we last won away from home and that probably crept in at our home games with everything else going on. macaulay langstaff was great, getting him more involved will lead to chances. very happy to see how we have responded after the Gillingham defeat.
  17. wrexham are a difficult team and are in good form, but they do have a habit of conceding goals too. defensively, notts needs to be strong if we are to see the game out. i dont question that we have the ability to score, but out scoring wrexham at the cost of poor defending seems unlikely. personally right now i think it might be a 1-1 draw, i would be happy with it.
  18. hes an incredible talent. for all the years we have wanted a young good striker that could finish well but also do other work on the pitch. its great to see him doing so well in league two. his success here as been a joy and i really want fans to appreciate his efforts but also enjoy it whilst he is here. this form will start to attract interest from clubs and those willing to pay a good sum may tempt notts to accept, but worry about this when it comes. now we enjoy his efforts and performances.
  19. by far the best performance notts has showed for awhile, even before macaualay langstaff scored we looked more organised and a threat going forward. i could not make out what happened with the penalty, but i agree with stuart maynard that it was misfortunate for us because we defended very well. there was times it needed to be a bit better, but it was never at the cost of newport looking like they would score from open play. i thought luca ashby hammond did well when needed. the tactics did make a difference with maynard tweaking things, newport did not react to it and it was just a good win. it felt like it was more of a step forward than just a win for a new manager. it gave hope and with our away form being so poor, at least we might improve on it.
  20. @Piethagoram i do think signing a striker for that amount of money could have been used to bring in more quality in much needed areas but i dont think we can write off alassana jatta. i do think his height may be a blessing, but again, the money could have been better spent.
  21. i can understand the frustration because it was poor to see how we performed after taking the lead, i would not say we settled for that goal but it was like we went through the motion of having scored to concede and then being afraid to go again. gillingham did well, they knew where we was weak and the first two goals show how teams are noticing the aerial threat. as a team we do need to mark better and try to win the ball back once we have lost it, we can pass around and have large amounts of possession but when we concede due to not pressuring the opposition it does make it more frustrating as a supporter. i am glad fans decided to leave, without venting their frustration after the game. there may have been some who did, but i heard no booing and no offensive comments.
  22. tough game but I thought we handled them well at their ground, i am hoping to see a spirited performance where we cause gillingham nothing but problems. i dont think it will be easy but its our best chance to get off to winning ways under stuart maynard. the home advantage needs to work in our favour, i have been a bit disappointed as of late with the amount of noise generated and i know we can do better. i hope the players make an impact that helps encourage our support, it could be a big difference to the outcome.
  23. what is artistic swimming when its at home? oh, its another way of saying synchronized swimming. i wished they just named it that. well done to the duo for winning silver.
  24. i fear mansfield, i am more optimistic about wrexham as we can control them better. mansfield at meadow lane just overloaded us and i think at their ground they will do the same again. i would be happy with a point. not that a win would not be great, it would but i dont have that expectation. a smash and grab against mansfield would be very pleasing.
  25. its something i must remember to do, because its useful and i think prompts like this are a good reminder of how important it is. it really does enable the community to be proactive.
