  1. im not a big rugby fan although i thought it was interesting to see them connected with notts. whilst i think it was an excuse to blame them for our own results, they did rip our pitch up. i hope they manage to do okay with what has happened due to flooding.
  2. it strikes a bit of difference when football in turkey is suspended due to a referee being assaulted compared to this. what happened to adam johnson is very saddening and will have caused much of the results that the panthers have experienced. i dont know if they carried on or not, i am not so much into hockey but i do think they should have been given time away if they have not. with this suggesting the amount of games it makes me believe that not enough time was given. its very sad.
  3. i know, it might come across as i am expecting it but i want to say i am more hopeful that we can secure back to back wins. it would go along way to u turning the poor form we found, whilst giving everyone something less to worry about. i think morecambe will want to make a game of it but i have the faith that if we perform well enough a good result will come. try to avoid changes where possible, yes some of the players may be tired from the boxing day game but i think we have more than enough within the squad to rely less on what we have on the bench. consistency right now could be the thing to bring better form within the new year.
  4. i have seen a few rugby games with my dad on the tv, when england are playing and their whole setup is so simply executed that it barely impacts the game. the application of it in football is a farce, if something needs checking - do it. a lot of the issue for me is the incompetence of officials and the people operating it. im glad it has not expanded into the efl because many of the changes made this season force the games to drag on when its supposed to enable the game to flow. var could be a useful system to assist human error but its current application is not practical.
  5. far better performance and something to be happy with, stockport are a good team and we played a decent game. its a shame we could not get anything from the game. i felt a bit frustrated by the way we gave the second goal, not so much cameron but tobi losing the ball rather clumsy.
  6. we are playing better, a bit more thought needs to go into our decisions on goal but its good to see macaulay langstaff more involved with the ball. it gives him so much more to do. despite the better performance, the goal we allowed to go in was a major switching off moment and its disappointing. i am pleased with how we have responded since though.
  7. this signing was a masterstroke and he very much fired us to the football league, with such a talented squad behind him but without his goals some of the games may have been different. i was not sure we would be able to replace kyle wootton, i felt very disappointed he left but macaulay langstaff and cedwyn scott have been such a breath of fresh air. i do hope to see them partner each other on the field a lot more once cedwyn is injury free.
  8. having seen macaualay langstaffs interview i feel a bit more encouraged, he works so effortlessly and does not give up. we need to get back to playing in a way that turns the opposition defence inside out. i would love to see us perform well, slowing the passes down just enough to give us the edge. if the players work as hard as langstaff there is no reason why we cant. some stockport fans feel anxious about playing us, so it should be a great game.
  9. i really love how luke williams thinks about things and his whole approach to management, he thinks everything through like a real leader does and quite fairly he holds his own hands up. i think he has done very well to guide us to 6th place and i just hope we can spark our exciting form to maintain this. what williams says is very true!
  10. my dad would love this, well he would but at the same time he would find plenty to moan about. i might try to get it. sorted! thanks amazon, next day delivery. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Terrible-Maps-stupidly-illustrated-geography/dp/0008641595/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1CO3ZYJJ2ZU38&keywords=Terrible+map&qid=1703255264&sprefix=terrible+map%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-1 also picked this one up. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brilliant-Maps-Atlas-Curious-Minds/dp/1846276632/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1CO3ZYJJ2ZU38&keywords=Terrible+map&qid=1703255264&sprefix=terrible+map%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-2
  11. we have seen a lot of improvements from macaulay langstaff, i remember reading the tweets and comments on social media where some fans did not believe he was good enough. i dont think it was ever a question but we need to get back to being creative and relentless with our attacks because macca thrives on that and then it creates a buzz.
  12. hello, @StanfordPie. welcome to pon. we are a great community.
  13. similar to @Joshua, i want us to snap out of this feeling sorry for ourselves. notts needs to regroup and forget the previous fixtures, with christmas coming up we need to make every effort towards making it an enjoyable time. if we lose tomorrow, so be it but lets come back stronger and more determined.
  14. it took some time for him to feature, i like that luke williams wanted to bring him up to speed but now hes ours. we have all the more reason to be playing him, its the way he will improve and be able to contribute more towards notts. i think its a good signing and once he's back available, i hope to see him in the starting lineup. hopefully, he will score a few more goals before the season ends but his debut goal was a screamer!
  15. its going to be interesting to see how we do against a team in far better form. a good result could give us no end of confidence but on the other hand, a heavy defeat could cause further complications. i dont expect to win, so i think i would take a draw. hopefully the players are feeling more ambitious as our away games seems unlikely to see where the next win will come.
  16. how he lost his voice is clear that the players are not listening, but its concerning because it looks like luke williams is running out of things to try. i just hope we can pick up and focus on becoming stronger in the new year. its difficult for sure.
  17. i dont really care about him because the moment ian burhcnall failed at fgr, michael doyle was back at notts. hes pretty much shown no loyality to pompey by taking the woking job. i would understand more if it was a bigger or a former club but woking? if he can make it until the end of the season without being sacked it will be a good thing for him. he should do well as a manager provided he sticks and learns with a club, instead of always on the move.
  18. i dont believe in plan bs, i just think that whatever we try right now it wont make much difference until we see committment made at the back and that possibly starts with not playing players as cbs when they are not. we were poor today, this spell hit us earlier in the season i would be worried about relegation. we have gone from being reasonably ok, to awkward, to extremely poor. fix the defence and we should improve.
  19. i hate that my previous post sounded negative but i could sense this, luke has a massive uphill battle and i dont see how we can get back into the game without conceding a third. the reason most fans are disappointed is because we are better but everyone keeps making the same mistakes and there is nothing learned. richard brindley can work but hes better with two recognised centre backs imo. the first goal was bad, but it put us on the wrong foot to begin with and it lead to the second. its quite poor to think we are so easily gifting games to our opposition.
  20. not long to go, i feel more nervous and the vibe i am getting i think its going to be one of those games we will just want to forgot. i hope i am wrong. it would have been nice to see some stability with the defence, i cant help but agree that changing every game is making it harder. we will see how this works out but i dont have a lot of high hopes in playing only one recognised centre back, with connell rawlinson being the only other on the bench.
  21. still plenty of time to grow but i love the desire of notts to go out and strike a deal with stoke. it says a lot about the club and i think within time lewis macari could become one of our most important defenders. i am pleased he sees notts as somewhere he can grow and i hope he does well.
  22. i like that luke williams is always thinking about improvements, i know this will take time and i understand that currently we have something that with effort we can overcome but again its about time and having a bit of luck maybe.
  23. its good to know that the clubs training hard, i dont doubt that and it will take time to sort out our defensive issues. it might not even be resolved if we sign a defender in january, but working towards getting better results is a must. we are in a good position and our earlier good work should not be undone with a dry patch. lets just try to navigate december the best that we can and rekindle that buzz in the new year.
  24. i do think we need to be mindful about the squad we start with and the options that will leave us on the bench, an unpopular suggestion would be to leave jodi jones on the bench and allow adam chicksen to start. i think jodi can be a massive influence but his spark is usually bigger when he comes on. i dont think he deserves being benched, i just think we would get more from him if we did. he plays like he wants to prove a point, like hes sending a message for being dropped. we dont have many players like this and it makes it such a useful tactic. hopefully we do go back to giving steadier performances but harrogate being a team that can play in ways we struggle, it will make it interesting.
  25. first half i thought we did well. a little too much focus on passing backwards instead of going forward or taking their marker on, but we defended very routinely. walsall was not a great squad by any means, they just worked together and fought hard for their goals. if notts had got their act together sooner, i think we could have turned it around. defensively, walsall looked clueless but we never really tested that in the second half. jodi jones tried but it was all from crosses. we needed to attack around the box a bit more imo. i thought the changes made by luke williams made us very defensive. jim o brien and richard brindley are not two players i would introduce to a game where you want to fight back. jr morias coming on gave us some pace but we failed to get him involved. Very few balls was played to his feet which meant he had to work for it. our midfield was terrible, they couldn't press, win back the ball or make a simple pass. walsall did not apply any pressure for this to happen, to me it was all a lack of application, confidence and a weak mindset. luke williams should have kept dan crowley on for longer, i dont think he was injured and taking one of the players who can put someone through with a clever pass going off made no sense to me at all.
