  1. Did anyone see the final on Sunday?

Apparently the dog doing the trick walking on a tightrope wasn't actually Mattisse (the dog that won) but a look a like called Chase.

The show are claiming they knew nothing about it but I can't believe that, they surely have rehearsals?

What do you think? Have the public been hoodwinked? Should the £250,000 prize be taken away?

  2. Thousands of love locks are being taken off a bridge in Paris because it is in danger of collapsing.

Apparently you put a padlock on a bridge and throw the key into the river to symbolise your undying love. I'd not heard of this craze until very recently, have you heard of it? Have you ever done it?

  3. Well what a fun day I've had, I spent all morning trying to get through on the phone to renew my season ticket and kept getting through to some poor bloke in another department who tried to put me through to the ticket office only after a long time ringing out it went back to him again, he kept apologising and saying how busy they were etc. I felt sorry for him I bet he got lots of calls like that.

I vented my frustration on twitter to the Notts County and they suggested sending my phone number via email and someone would ring me back, I'm still waiting.

I've tried renewing on line, the first time I tried I put in my membership number and post code as requested and it didn't work, I tried again later and this time it found my seat, gave me a price and when I clicked continue everything vanished and the seat number and price had gone, so I've had to give up on that too.

Unless they extend the deadline it looks like I won't be getting a season ticket at the cheaper price! I know it's difficult for them but surely they could have laid on a few extra staff to cope with the demand on the last couple of days, they must know everyone leaves it until the last minute!

  4. OK...Its time for my renewal of my contract (well at beg of August) so trying to sort out the best option.

Currently have a 2 yr with 3 on their old one plan (everything unlimited)

Dont need anywhere near that in real terms and basically I have been paying for the phone, not the plan, which is fiar enough.

Have now Galaxy S4. Battery is knackered and cant make it through the day now so I'm thinking about going for a newer phone.

The biggest minefield for me is the provider. I talked to 3 and their deal is ok, but I think changing to ee might be a good idea with the integrated wifi calling. (on 3 it is a seperate app)

The stumbling block is ...carphone warehouse. Their deals are obviously better than the provider, BUT

when I play devils advocate with the actual provider they give me the big speill about check the terms and conditions. 3 even said they stopped working with cpwh because cpwh had the power to put the prices up themslves above the provider during the contract. When I questioned the 3 guy on why then 3 were going into partnership network with cpwh on their new provider id, they clammed up.

    So...

Anyone had dealings with carphone warehouse good or bad?

Anyone recommend a better battery phone from the latest crop S6 or HTC1m9?

Adice more on the network provider if poss please.

    Thanks all

  9. Myself and the wife went to see this at Manchester a few nights ago and it was superb. I would recommend it to anyone. Not the old fashioned clown etc...much more based on skill. The guys and lasses were amazing and some of the things must have took years of practise!

  10. Not long to go now and I'll be settling in front of the telly to enjoy a bottle of whisky and the cream of the continent's musical talent ()! Is anyone else looking forward to it? For some reason everyone seems to hate it but has an opinion on it all the same!

I've got to admit I quite like it. Yes the voting is annoying but a lot of it is due to migrants phoning in and voting for their home country. As I always vote for the UK, I can't really talk ...

It's top notch entertainment (especially in combination with alcohol) and some of the songs are pretty decent too, especially when you look at the last few winners. Our problem is that we just dismiss the whole thing as a bit of fluff and send in some tacky rubbish, thinking "well, it'll do for Eurovision". With our musical tradition, it's just embarrasing that we send 80-year-olds to be laughed at all over Europe. Let's at least try.

The Germans, on the other hand, have taken it all extremely seriously ever since Lena won it and I always have a good laugh at the look of shock, surprise and disappointment in the presenters' faces when they finish 20th again! It almost compensates for seeing Lena's annoying face on TV again.

  11. The site that ran the World Cup Prediction Competition are running an FA Cup prediction competition. Anyone interested? Website is:

If there is enough interest, I'll create a league.

  12. Attempt number 2 from a different browser to link and share to facebook!

What would be helpful (he says ironically) if for someone to say if they can see this post shared on facebook so I know if thats the issue rather than not posting at all!!!

  13. I watched an interesting documentary the other night which exploded a few myths about the war time leader. Did you know that his "fight on the beaches" speech was never actually broadcast during the war? It was a speech he made in parliament during the war and was only recorded for the radio 9 years after the war from his sickbed.

The programme was all about how he lost the election to a Labour landslide immediately after the war when everyone assumed he would get in comfortably.

If anyone is interested it was on BBC2 and can be watched on iplayer.

  14. Today is @Canadian's birthday, please join me in wishing him a all the best on his special day.Have you got anything planned @Canadian ?

  15. We've had a great Bank Holiday weekend, our eldest grandchildren have been for a couple of nights stay, Saturday we went to Twin Lakes theme park and came home to have a great family BBQ with both sets of Grandchildren getting together, they don't see each other much and it was lovely to see them playing together.

Sunday we took them for a long bike ride, me and Mrs. H. just about managed to keep up with them along a canal tow path, luckily no one fell in the cut. Stopped off at the pub for a half way break and they just happened to have a real ale festival on so I treated myself to a pint of Shipstones which I haven't had for ages, Mrs. H. had a half of Magpie (YOUPIES) and said it was very nice. The kids had pop of course, then we set off (rather wobbly in my case) on the second half of the journey, luckily it wasn't on a canal towpath this time.

What a great weekend, how was yours?

  16. A big PoN welcome to @lambsy, I hope you enjoy being a part of our friendly community.

  17. Hello and welcome to @Adrian.Please join in posting, why not start by telling us a bit about yourself.

  18. Here's something interesting I stumbled across while researching our new signing Scot Bennett. Last week Guy Branston wrote an article about the best 11 players in Devon for the local press there. Fast forward four days and we've signed one of them!

I wonder if any of the others will be on our radar?

  19. Remember the Munto era, when we thought we had zillions of quid and could buy anyone, do anything?

    What was your favourite rumour?

Mine was that they were going to buy all the land that the cattle market stands on and build a monorail station to link to the city centre. Trouble is I fell for all the hype, in a way it was a really exciting time, I really wish it had all been true.

  20. 2 tweets from Leigh earlier today;

'Notts County fans, I have some news for you tomorrow which will bring a smile to your face and certainly bodes well for the future.'

'Okay I will give Notts fans a clue. It concerns one of the biggest clubs in Europe.'

    Intriguing to say the least!

    Regards Al

    You Pies!

  21. Pride of Nottingham are proud to announce 5 new signings yesterday to bump our membership up to 400. :clapping:

    Welcome to: @PieInExile, @NealFellows, @tyler1862, @noseypie and @battlebus

We hope you enjoy our friendly forum, please come and tell us all about yourselves.

  22. The playoffs took a back seat to the election fever gripping the country yesterday. League 1 kicked thing off:

Chesterfield 0-1 PNE. PNE have never been promoted through the playoffs but this could be their year. They scored after 6 mins. Chesterfield grew into the game and were unlucky in the end. Although Jimmy Ryan was a lucky boy. He elbowed Paul Gallagher in the face but escaped with a yellow card.

Sheffield Utd 1-2 Swindon. Big budget United fail miserably at home. That's my headline. United took the lead but Swindon showed no fear and deservedly won the game in injury time. Their counter attacking play is a joy to watch. Investment in their youth system is really paying off.

  23. What a surprise. Didn't see that one coming at all. Not.

Bit like a lorry driver ducking at every bridge. Sees it coming a mile off. Lol

    http://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/article/damian-irvine-notts-county-meadow-lane-2472143.aspx

Speaking of lorry drivers and bridges...has anyone heard from our own ducked? Not seen him around recently. Is it post election blues for @PTID1862?

  24. A number of top FIFA officials have been arrested for alleged bribery (who would have thought it???) going back 20 years, but possibly also involving the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Clearly the individuals involved are all whiter than white and will be released without charge ;)
