  1. Is anyone else concerned about the lack of transfer news coming from Notts, the best the media team could do yesterday was post a video of Trev the groundsman on his sit on mower.

Come on Notts give us something to discuss on here.

  2. Having just got back from holiday in France with lot of time spent on the beach I was horrified to see the news of the holiday makers slaughtered whilst enjoying their holiday.

How can any human being have such a low regard for another innocent humans life? When will this madness end?

    I find it so depressing.

  3. which player do you think is the best signing so far?

i assume gill swerts will be popular, yet for me i am more impressed with scott bennet and i hope he gets chance to prove himself with us. we require a cb who can lead and partner hollis, so for me its him.

  4. What do you make of the supposed decision by Forest to cancel playing us in a friendly to celebrate their 150th year anniversary? Supposedly @erindoors reached an agreed mutually at a Football  League conference and after being asked to move the game to a Tuesday, it's since come out that Forest have no plans to play Notts.

In principle the attendance money is also claimed to have been set to 50/50.

    @jsrjay

    Should Forest explain themselves? Opinions?

  5. So i thought i'd start a topic about my Team over here. I'm now in love with them as much as i am with Notts County FC:

  6. Hello folks, and welcome to the ninth episode of Pride of Nottingham’s PONcast, Notts County's number one podcast.

In today’s instalment we begin by discussing Notts County’s new shirt sponsor with Ladbrokes that chairman Ray Trew has previously described as “the biggest in the club’s history”. Next we touch on the Magpies’ pre-season friendly against Scunthorpe United, the first and potentially only one to be played at Meadow Lane this summer, before moving on to the allegedly broken promise of a fixture against Nottingham Forest.

We then check out the latest offerings on the transfer rumour mill, with supposed moves for ex-Newcastle United striker Adam Campbell and former Feyenoord right-sided player Gill Swerts on the cards.

And in terms of any other business, we find out what the members of the PON community deem the club’s best foreign player, we look at where Notts are ranked among the Football League’s most supported teams overseas.

  8. Our BT contract for TV, phone and Broadband has expired, I tried to get a better deal out of them but despite lengthy negotiations they dropped my bill by a measly £4 (final offer), so I started looking round, as luck would have it a Virgin Media man knocked at the door while I was fast asleep in the garden the other day. Mrs. H answered the door and said "Oh I think my husband might want to talk to you". so she roused me from my slumber and I went to the door my brain still befuddled by sleep, the Virgin media man looked relieved when I didn't turf him out on his ear because he had been studying our sign which says "no unwanted callers" (not that anyone takes any notice of the damn thing anyway).

I had a long chat with him and Virgin Media are offering me a lot better deal, so I was very interested. The only downside is that we when we moved to our present abode three years ago we wanted to have Virgin Media because we had it at our other house but despite going through all the motions and despite the cable being less than 100 feet from our property they decided that they couldn't do it, so you understand I am a little dubious that this present deal will go through, I explained all this to the chap at the door and he said that there was no harm trying again because things might have changed in the three years.

I am keeping my fingers crossed because although BT hasn't been too bad, I think the cable service is a lot faster and more reliable as we are some distance from the telephone exchange and that has an affect on our broadband speed and Virgin are a lot cheaper.

He's phoned up today and given us an installation date but says it is dependent on a survey being carried out. Hmmm, I wonder if I can bribe the bloke who does the survey?

    Watch this space!

  9. Reported by NEP:

Notts County are considering a move for Belgian international Gill Swerts as their search for talent moves across Europe.

The Magpies are understood to be seriously interested in the midfielder, who is currently a free agent after leaving NAC Breda following relegation from the Dutch top flight, the Eredivisie, last season.

Swerts can also play right-back and is believed to know boss Ricardo Moniz from his time in Holland, where he has played for a string of top sides.

Having started his career at Feyenoord, the 32-year-old enjoyed loan spells at Excelsior and ADO Den Haag before permanently moving to Vitesse in 2005.

Sounds promising. I'm glad Moniz is getting to use his European links.

  10. Hi @miniature maker that is a strange user name, please come and tell us the story behind it.

  11. Hi, I'll only post this link once but if anyone is interested here is a Notts County page I've just built for a football website:

  12. A 2 Yr deal plus opening a 'retail opportunity outlet' (in other words a bookies!) at the Lane.

Well done Notts. Lots of red splashed on our shirts now though!

Ladbrokes, one of the world’s leaders in the betting and gaming industry and Notts County Football Club today announce a new two-year shirt sponsorship deal...

As well as being the biggest sponsorship deal in the club’s 153-year illustrious history, the agreement is hoped to be the beginning of a new partnership between the two brands with Ladbrokes looking to open a retail outlet at Meadow Lane.

Notts County Chairman Ray Trew said: "This is an exciting day for Notts County Football Club and all our supporters, I have been in positive communication with Ladbrokes since they sponsored our Carling Cup Tie against Liverpool in 2013 and I am glad after many months of negotiating to have personally secured this deal.

“We are obviously delighted that a huge Global Brand such as Ladbrokes have put pen to paper in association with us as we enter a new era both on and off the field†

“We would like to thank Ladbrokes for their support and sponsorship for the forthcoming season and beyond.â€

The Magpies have been priced by Ladbrokes to win League 2 at 18/1, meanwhile Notts are priced at 9/2 to be promoted from League 2.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: "A club with as rich a history as Notts County are a natural fit for Ladbrokes.

“We're very much looking forward to working with Notts both on and off the field and wish the team all the best for the upcoming season."

  13. With several European based players rumoured to be linked with our club. I would like to know your thoughts on the men who have served us well in the past.

Who would you name as the best ‪Notts‬ County foreign import of all time?

  14. Two more new members for us to welcome to PoN.So,hello @Lizzy and hello @Tony.Please join in the fun.Why not tell us a bit about yourselves.Enjoy!

  15. Leave your thoughts whether we should have more chants like Wheelbarrow to get the Lane buzzing

  16. It's being reported that our cult hero (was he a cult hero for us?) is being heavily linked with several League One teams and is set to leave, now this isn't news to me. I had been told very early on, that Bajner wanted to play above League Two and that he was set to refuse signing a new contract.

No major disappointment but I do feel he could have done very well within the basement of English football.

It means we require two strikers however, both of which need to be strong and able to score goals. If I was Moniz I would have tried convincing Bajner his future was at our club and a short stint in League Two would have done him the world of good but as it stands, it seems Oldham or another club will snap him up.

    Thoughts?

  17. We have a new video data analyst from Cheltenham Town joining Notts.

A masters student in sports performance analysis at the University of Chichester, 22-year-old Craig has contributed a huge amount of work during his time as part of the backroom staff at Whaddon Road over the past two seasons.

His duties included filming matches and training sessions, allowing the manager to show key moments during pre-match meetings and half-time discussions, compiling information on forthcoming opponents and preparing motivational videos to be played before games.

    Link

I wonder if this will be for the first team or more for the academy, personally I think he would benefit the first team.

  18. France 1-0 England. To put it in context, France are potential winners, 2nd best team in Europe.

England played to contain France and it almost worked. England will beat Mexico and Colombia to finish 2nd and a potential game against Norway in the last 16.

  19. Welcome to PoN @.Please make yourself at home and enjoy your time with us.

  20. I am signing out for two weeks whilst I take a well earned break in France (well I think it's well earned anyway)

I'm sure you'll all manage to cope without me but I just wanted to let you know................

  22. Happy fathers day to all the Dads and Grandads on here.

Is anyone doing anything nice today or had any nice surprises off your children/grandchildren?

  23. Thanks to the Football League being inconsiderate so and so's and messing all the kick off times around, this final around is going to consist of NINE matches instead of your usual six, just to make it a tad more interesting.

The final games in the championship are all 12:15 kick offs on Saturday, and then league two is 15:00 Saturday (like it all should be!), so there will be three championship games and three league two games from Saturday.

Then obviously our league finished Sunday so there will be a further three games on Sunday. Good luck!

    Saturday's Fixtures:

    Blackburn Rovers v Ipswich Town

    Charlton Athletic v AFC Bournemouth

    Watford v Sheffied Wednesday

    Cambridge United v Burton Albion

    Northampton Town v Wycombe Wanderers

    Shrewsbury Town v Plymouth Argyle

    Sunday's Fixtures:

Colchester United v Preston North End

    Crawley Town v Coventry City

    Swindon Town v Leyton Orient

  24. Today is my grandson Jake's 9th birthday,so Happy Birthday super_pie. super-ram and william are looking forward to giving you your birthday bumps.
