Cokayne Looking To Drive New Business Through The Doors
Official Club video here, interesting to see Richard speak about getting investment in. It is the way forward and I do think the club have someone able to continue where Damian Irvine left off.
Have a watch folks, discuss below.
So, contrary to the information put out by the club, Gary Jones has not yet been offered a contract by the club.
A bit shoddy of the club IMO, to keep these guys hanging on and not getting in touch. Gary Jones was a professional throughout, and I would say that without him last season we could very well have finished last. Not a way to repay his efforts.
Plus, it's deceiving fans as-well.ย

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Patrick Vieira taking over at the Toon?

Went to this a few days ago expecing to see a whole lot on Notts. We didn't really get a mention!
Nothing about us being the first League club in the World etc...
Only one cabinet piece and that was a funeral card that fans could buy outside the ground in the early 1900's commerating the loss of the great Notts County after a bad run of defeats.
To find anything you had to type into their interactive screen and search Notts!

It's only two weeks to wait now until the fixtures are released.
ย
Who would you like to see us play on the key dates?
ย
I personally would like a home tie to kick us off and a home tie to finish the season if we can't have both those options then my preference would be a home tie the last day of the season when hopefully the players can parade round the ground as Champions.
ย
I'd also like Mansfield at home on Boxing Day or New Years Day, that would ensure a bumper crowd as long as the weather doesn't postpone the match.
ย
What about you?

How do you feel the squads taking shape? Where do we need to focus now and who ideally could fill the roles required?
It seems each season we are one of the slowest to build, we need to address this in my opinion because the movement is what encourages supporters and the better quality out there is always likely to move faster. I think we are still seeking signings to convince fans we will gain promotion next year and these are the positions I want filling the most.
Goalkeeper
Centre Back
Right Back
Centre Midfield
Striker
Ben Davies could fill the CM role, he would offer cover too. Right Back, hopefully some someone between 22-27 with a bit of pace behind them. The keeper ideally not young but reliable at this level. I read somewhere Kristen Pearce us available as a free signing. He might do well with regular game time and less selfish partners a round him.
Striker upcoming would be nice, pacey and skilful. What are your thoughts?

Despite assurances there would be no job losses when the takeover by an American company was announced, Boots have announced that 400 jobs are under threat and consultation is taking place. My sympathies to anyone on here who is employed by Boots, having been made redundant 3 times during my working life I don't envy you the next few months of uncertainty.

Don't you just love summer time? yesterday we had a great walk down the canal and a pint in the pub garden overlooking the canal.
Today the family came round and we had a Sunday roast cooked outside on our Cobb, roast beef and all the trimmings, the kids are staying with us tonight so they went to bed around 7 ish while the grown ups chilled out playing board games (Rummikubs, anyone else play it?), family time is great especially in Summer.
What's everyone else been up to?

How many have you attended? Where and who?
I have been 13 England games, all at the old Wembley. We won 10, draw 2 and lost 1. Three games included World Cup winners. I have also been to a handful of USA games, scattered all over America and South America.
Most of which have been friendlies.

I'm always a bit wary of picking up bananas in a supermarket, this must have been frightening for this family.

I watched Canada vs China live last night. I was never a fan of 4G pitches and last night is the reason why. Canada play the ball around at pace and it opens up packed defences. It's very difficult to do that on 4G. What we got was a slow paced game.
Maybe the quality will improve as the teams get used to the pitches. It needs to as there is a huge audience watching the tournament, it's a massive opportunity to promote the women's game. Grass is miles better than 4G. I can't help thinking this would be an outstanding tournament if it were on grass. There's no need for 4G in Summer in Canada.

It's been fabulous weather the last couple of days, I've even got my shorts out of the wardrobe and put them on!
Last night me and Mrs H were thinking of popping down to the pub and treating ourselves to a couple of steaks but we decided to do our own so got a couple of rib eye steaks and popped them on the BBQ, they were gorgeous.
How's the weather been where you are? How have you been enjoying it?
Just to make you drool here's a couple of pics of our BBQ meal.

He seems to be coping with alot of banter tonight on Twitter, but not convinced putting two of our players down to 'promote' a player he obviously pushed for is a good idea!

I've just had an email saying that this season, Bench members can have a tour of the stadium hosted by Les Bradd, this is a great move by the club and Les and should get a lot of interest in my opinion.

Firstly no spoilers as I've only just finished the first series!
ย
Thought it took a good while to get going, but the more I watched the more I liked. Thought it was a good base for a show.
ย
Does the Netflix etc...revolution change the way you watch tv now? I never watch programmes week by week any more. I binge watch a whole series then move on.
ย
Even with bigger things that have loads of episodes such as (apologies for my taste!) Masterchef Australia. (Don't knock it until you've tried it!) It normally has 70ish episodes over the season, but I save them all up and watch a few per night.
ย
Strange how viewing habits have changed!

The kids trashed our Harmony 650 two days ago which controlled the tv, home cinema and WDTV live. Most royally cross with them.
I decided to go with a like for like replacement as it would be easier. I went to PCWorld to pick one up this pm. The sales guy gave me the full spiell trying to get me to buy one of the more expensive ones The Harmony Touch at รยฃ139.99. I was swaying towards it when I noticed he started fiddling with the labels next to it. I jumped in when I realised the problem. They had two prices tags on it both with the same model number and bar code. One read รยฃ139.99 the other read รยฃ89.99. I immediately grabbed the model of the shelf and asked they guy to show me the label he was trying to hide. After a while he did so I called the manager over and said I had seen it on display at that price and expected them to honour it.
Lets say the manager wasn't best pleased, but gave in eventually.ย
ย
I think the poor sales guy is in for a talking too when he comes off shift!!!
ย
ย
Expensive I know for a remote, but for cutting out all the remotes I was trying to juggle last night its definitely worth it. Plus this one has a screen lock on it so only an adult can use it!!!

The Board of Directors of Notts County can confirm a major restructure behind the scenes here at Meadow Lane ahead of the new campaignรขโฌยฆ
The first notable change is a new addition to the Board of Directors. ยยLuke Negus-Hill joins the Board as Chief Operations Officer (COO) and will have hands on role in assisting Aileen Trew in the day-to-day management of the business. ยยThere will be further additions to the Board over the coming weeks, as the Club want to strengthen both teams on and off the pitch, in an attempt to regain its League 1 status at the first attempt.ยNotts County Chairman Ray Trew added: รขโฌลWe are delighted to welcome Luke on to the Board of Directors here at Meadow Lane. ยยรขโฌลLuke has worked alongside me since 1997 and he is CEO in a number of my other business interests. He will be a valuable addition to the Board.รขโฌยIn addition, the club would like to welcome Richard Cokayne into a new role of Head of Commercial and Events. ยยRichard has stepped up into this position following the departure of Damian Irvine. ยยThe Board has felt for a long time now that these two departments should be amalgamated and they feel that Richard has the credentials to lead this team onwards and upwards. ย ยยAs a direct result of this change, Patrick Conway also steps up from being one of the clubs duty managers into now Head of Catering & Events. Patrick has shown that he is now ready for this new challenge. There will also be further additions to Commercial and Events Team over the pursuing weeks.ยThe club can also confirm that both Mark Huckerby and Trevor Hutchinson, will take on much more responsibility around Meadow Lane. ย Mark who is currently the Clubs Senior Fire Officer will now also take on the responsibility of stadium maintenance and compliance, whilst Trevor will take up the role of Head Groundsman following the recent resignation of Greg Smith. The Club is also looking to recruit a number of new staff in these key areas.ยThe club would like to wish all five members of staff well in their new roles, as we look to work together to continue to move Notts County forwards both on and off the pitch.ยย

To try and take the positives, the bit in bold sounds decent.ย
Not so sure about appointing another Trew-ite into the club.ย
