  1. Sorry I haven't had a chance to post more. Busy day out Saturday with the kids then went to see the Erasure concert on Saturday night (which was superb btw) and spent the day today building Ikea furniture as we've changed my daughter's room around. 4 cabinets and chest of draws later and my back is telling me to stop!

  2. Hello,

My names Lee, huge fan of Notts and marvel comics hence my nickname. I'm 14 years old, I have followed Notts since 2008.

I've only attended a handful of games but I always look for updates or news.

  3. I thought we had a new member when I saw @liampie's latest incarnation as Alan Smith.

I always think of members looking like their avatars, now I will have to re-imagine you Liam.

What happened to Richard Liburd Liam? You've had more faces than Doctor Who. :rollonfloorlaughing:

  5. Hello everybody, most of you probably know me from NCM. Looking forward to some intelligent banter on here.

  6. So, the record is gone and a possible monkey is off of the back.  Defeat at home to Walsall could, should, and hopefully will be followed up with a win over the milk advert lot synonymous with "Eeeeen Ruschhhhh".

Connections?  Well, they were the only team to win at fortress meadow lane during the munto season, a game which cost Hans Backe his job but led to David Kevan which in turn led to Steve Cotterill, so not all bad that year.

Players - could be a tricky one this, but i will start with Leam Richardson, a fullback we signed on loan around the Dearden / Scott years, and who popped up at the Crown Ground later in his career.

    Over to you...

  8. Well now, Ryan Babel has released a fashion range of clothing and accessories, which carry the initials of the Liverpool Anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone".

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2836649/Former-Liverpool-misfit-Ryan-Babel-releases-street-fashion-range-branded-YNWA.html#comments

Among footballs elite, surely this could be a good seller, and then of course you will get a fair few who will buy it just to fit in without actually knowing what it means.

#COYP  as a clothing range? Who knows, at some point in the future...

This to me is a good idea for him, not only amongst the Liverpool supporting fraternity but for the Slogan itself... Just as an example, it is something perhaps that I would wear, the thought being that, #YNWA could signify never being alone, and help with depression/anxiety.

    Thoughts?

  9. We took our grandchildren to this on Saturday and it was a great day out. Only £1 entry for waged people and there were lots of people in medieval costumes with interesting stalls. Sword fighting etc., Robin Hood was present along with the Sheriff of Nottingham who had him arrested and put in the stocks but thankfully he was pardoned and set free. Great fun.

  12. So, with last season's home win against Coventry being one of the high points of 13/14 (which was also the first Meet the Fans video). Will this game be one in which Coventry get their own back?

Will they be trying to prove something after their premature exit from the FA Cup?

Will we miss the 3 players who are away on international duty?

Fingers crossed we keep up our unbeaten run (Which is currently on one game unbeaten!)

Who is going to make the trip to the Ricoh Arena?

  13. which league  is the best in Europe ? I think the bundesliga

  14. Enjoyed reading the interview and grateful for any insight into the club, but I got the feeling he was not in a good mood when answering them. Surely he could have bantered a little, especially with the added question from TH grandson. Maybe a response of 'come back when the next tooth falls out then we'll discuss a deal!'

  19. Derry hails Carroll commitment

450098465_3042537.jpg?20140121133016Notts County boss Shaun Derry watched his side eke out a win at Coventry and then singled out goalkeeper Roy Carroll for praise.

The veteran County goalkeeper, like his opposite number in the Coventry goal, had little to do throughout the 90 minutes, but Derry said the fact it was his second game in less than 24 hours underlined the team spirit at the club.

Carroll had turned out for Northern Ireland in a 2-0 defeat in Romania the night before, but caught the first flight home and then drove to Coventry to play in the match that was settled by Garry Thompson's 72nd-minute winner.

"It was a case of planes, trains and automobiles for Roy getting to the ground, but I just think that typifies us as a football club," said Derry.

"We are very selfless people and Roy wanted to play and do a job for us."

City had just been getting on top when the visitors scored and should also have had the chance to draw level in the 87th minute when Notts defender Hayden Hollis bundled Gary Madine over in the box.

But Derry felt his side had earned that chunk of luck. He said: "I'm delighted with that - we changed our system after I saw Coventry play on Wednesday night and I thought we did well.

"It was a really tight game. I said to the boys at half-time that this was going to be a one-goal game and we managed to get that with a fantastic finish.

"We've had those decisions given against us at times this season, but they do even themselves out.

"I am happy that it wasn't given this time and I am sure Steven will tell you a different story. I can understand that.

"Over the course of the 90 minutes, I felt the best team won."

Coventry manager Steven Pressley said one defensive lapse and one poor decision cost his team at least a share of the spoils.

He said: "I was disappointed because these are games that we have to win. There is no doubt about that.

"It was fiercely-contested. Our attitude was terrific and our work ethic was terrific.

"There was a real will to win but one mistake cost us the game, especially when we were the dominant team in the second half.

"These are games we can't afford to lose, there is no doubt about it.

"It's a lesson to us as one bit of naive defending cost us and, also, a moment where the referee refuses to give the penalty.

"I've seen it again and I'm not here to make excuses but it's an absolute stonewall penalty.

"I think it was a big call and he failed to make it. I spoke to him afterwards and told him I was disappointed because it was undoubtedly a penalty kick."

  20. Former Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov 'like a little kid' again

Stiliyan-Petrov.jpg Former Aston Villa and Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov says he feels "like a little kid" now that he is playing football again following his battle with cancer.

The 35-year-old Bulgarian was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2012 and retired in May 2013 , but is now playing Sunday League football for Midlands side Wychall Wanderers.

Petrov's treatment is due to end shortly and he says it is "incredible being able to smile again".

Brilliant story, so sad to this happen to someone who was doing fantastically well in his career. However, as always it's good to see him turning it in to a positive. I admire the fact he's playing for Wychall Wanderers because I suspect he could go higher, perhaps just beneath the Non League.

Hope he manages to step up and end his career having one last "big" day.
  21. Due to the International games there are no championship fixtures this weekend, so instead we have three fixtures from league one and three from league two.

    Swindon Town v Bristol City

    Walsall v Peterborough United

AFC Wimbledon v Dagenham & Redbridge

    Shrewsbury Town v Mansfield Town

  22. Indonesia Earthquake Triggers Tsunami Warning

A large earthquake has hit the waters off eastern Indonesia, triggering the possibility of a tsunami in the region.

    170814-indonesia-boat-sinking-wide-1-762
There have been no reports of casualties or major damage

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 under the sea in eastern Indonesia sparked a tsunami warning and caused residents in coastal areas to flee their homes.

The quake struck at a depth of 28 miles (46 km) near the Maluku Islands, which are about a four-hour flight from the capital, Jakarta.
There have been no reports of casualties or major damage.

Indonesia's meteorological agency said a tsunami wave of 9 cm (3.54 in) washed onto the small island of Jailolo but caused no damage.

The quake was strongly felt in several cities in eastern Indonesia, sending many people to run from homes and other buildings, officials and residents said.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully this goes by without problems, it's quite lucky that the earthquake hasn't caused major damage or worse the loss of lives. I genuinely hope the same can be said for any possible Tsunami.

I'm also surprised I haven't heard anything on the radio.

  23. So, if we beat Doncaster Rovers - Notts would progress to the semi final of the JPT.

Interesting situation could then occur, as Preston or Oldham have to take each other on. We could end up with the team we survived and retained our League One status, being Oldham or we could ultimately face up against the side we kicked off our 2014/2015 League One campaign against after surviving, I.E Preston.

@Pies4u highlighted the important of this competition, it's given something to help retain form and after the disappointment of seeing the Doncaster game(s) postponed.

Well, I am just eager to see how far Notts can go now.

    In the Southern Section

    Bristol City v Coventry City
    Leyton Orient vs Gillingham FC

Could Wembley being calling? Who would you prefer Preston or Oldham? Which side do you see progressing from the Southern section?

    Discuss folks. :)

  24. Chairman reserves special praise for popular goalkeeper...

Notts County Chairman Ray Trew has praised the attitude and commitment of goalkeeper Roy Carroll, after the custodian returned from international duty with Northern Ireland to play for the club in the 1-0 victory at Coventry City on Saturday.

Carroll, who joined the club on a free transfer this summer, has proved a revelation for Notts, putting in some eye-catching performances and establishing himself as a firm fans’ favourite for his passion and commitment.

However, rarely has that been more evident that when the 37-year-old turned out for Notts on Saturday, putting in another superb display, just hours after representing his country in a UEFA European Championship qualifying match away to Romania on Friday night.

The big keeper’s efforts have not gone unnoticed amongst the Notts hierarchy, with Chairman Ray Trew saying of Carroll: "I can’t praise Roy highly enough today, what he did went well above the call of duty, but epitomised everything that is right about Notts County at the moment.
