I watched an interesting documentary the other night which exploded a few myths about the war time leader. Did you know that his "fight on the beaches" speech was never actually broadcast during the war? It was a speech he made in parliament during the war and was only recorded for the radio 9 years after the war from his sickbed.

The programme was all about how he lost the election to a Labour landslide immediately after the war when everyone assumed he would get in comfortably.

If anyone is interested it was on BBC2 and can be watched on iplayer.

We've had a great Bank Holiday weekend, our eldest grandchildren have been for a couple of nights stay, Saturday we went to Twin Lakes theme park and came home to have a great family BBQ with both sets of Grandchildren getting together, they don't see each other much and it was lovely to see them playing together.

Sunday we took them for a long bike ride, me and Mrs. H. just about managed to keep up with them along a canal tow path, luckily no one fell in the cut. Stopped off at the pub for a half way break and they just happened to have a real ale festival on so I treated myself to a pint of Shipstones which I haven't had for ages, Mrs. H. had a half of Magpie (YOUPIES) and said it was very nice. The kids had pop of course, then we set off (rather wobbly in my case) on the second half of the journey, luckily it wasn't on a canal towpath this time.

Mine was that they were going to buy all the land that the cattle market stands on and build a monorail station to link to the city centre. Trouble is I fell for all the hype, in a way it was a really exciting time, I really wish it had all been true.

The playoffs took a back seat to the election fever gripping the country yesterday. League 1 kicked thing off: 

Chesterfield 0-1 PNE. PNE have never been promoted through the playoffs but this could be their year. They scored after 6 mins. Chesterfield grew into the game and were unlucky in the end. Although Jimmy Ryan was a lucky boy. He elbowed Paul Gallagher in the face but escaped with a yellow card. 

Sheffield Utd 1-2 Swindon. Big budget United fail miserably at home. That's my headline. United took the lead but Swindon showed no fear and deservedly won the game in injury time. Their counter attacking play is a joy to watch. Investment in their youth system is really paying off. 

What a surprise. Didn't see that one coming at all. Not.

Bit like a lorry driver ducking at every bridge. Sees it coming a mile off. Lol

A number of top FIFA officials have been arrested for alleged bribery (who would have thought it???) going back 20 years, but possibly also involving the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Clearly the individuals involved are all whiter than white and will be released without charge

I've got an iphone and a couple of days ago I tried to access this forum via the mobile skin which I normally do and it wouldn't accept my password, the password is correct because I can use it on my desktop computer to access the forum. I have tried deleted cookies and data from this site and changed the password to a new one but all to no avail. I can access the site with my mobile via tapatalk but not via the mobile skin.

Anyone got any ideas? It is seriously restricting my pleasure as I prefer using that method to get on the forum and more often than not I use my mobile, tapatalk I find a bit confusing to use.

Seriously, what the hell do some Chairmen want...any club can become a giant kill victim...

They seemed to have started to get some consistency in play if not results in the league and showed at least some signs of being able to survive.... so the manager spoke his mind ... if it was diabolical then why not say so...

Following on from the holiday thread I was wondering where everyone would vote as their best place they've ever been to and why. Doesn't need to be holiday related, just interested to see the things we all class as 'the best!' Meadow Lane is banned. (And if you wee picking that then you need to get out more because on a cold tuesday night in January sat at the back of the Pavis...well...its not the best in the world, but not the worst either, especially if we're winning!)

Well either he was deemed not good enough for Notts or we really are shafted when Mansfailed beat us to players like this. On reputation alone in the lower leagues, he would have looked good at Notts.

I've had a lot of trouble this morning logging in on my phone, first it wouldn't let me view the site at all and said there was a driver error, then I could see the site but it wouldn't accept my password so I tried to log in with facebook but now it has created a new user in my facebook name Fanof BigTone.

I can log in and post on the desktop computer but not my iphone via the mobile skin. Anyone else noticed a problem or is it just me?

@notts-joe I tried to delete the Fanof BigTone member but I don't think I have the necessary privileges so I think you will have to do it.

Does anyone own a DAB radio? They are becoming all the rave at the moment.

I had one (still used) from Morrisons, however changing stations annoyed the life out of me. Yet, I was lucky enough to win one from Absolute Radio, which the radio is located in my bedroom - It's a Pure One brand, absolutely love it! I also own a personal DAB radio which is the size of an MP3 player.

Any way, I hear Sony make decent one's if you don't already own one.
