  1. Matt Derbyshire has been released by that lot across the river. He'd score goals in League One. His wages might be an issue though.

Ismael Miller. He went on loan at Yeovil and did well. Fell out with the manager and was sent back to that lot across the river. He will get offers from Championship clubs I guess, but he'd do very well for us. Again wages may be the stumbling block.....

Stephen Pearson. He was released by Bristol City yesterday. He missed 6 months due to an ankle injury, but is fit now. 31 years old, played for Celtic and Derby. He has a terrific attitude. He'd be an asset at any club. I think we could have a genuine shot at getting him if we wanted to.

  2. I was going to post this inside the 'Buddy Holly' topic, however I felt it wasn't really right and I didn't want it to come across in the wrong way.

My children overheard a modern take on the classic the other day as we walked around Tesco, whilst I upgraded the site - I watched music videos with my youngest daughter Ava. After watching Dear Jessie (literally 5 times!) I decided to play some of Weird Al's parody's. White & Nerdy, Amish Paradise - all quickly got shakes of the head and a couple of lite smacks to measure (I assume she doesn't like rap music). Anyways, I clicked this just to test it and she loved it.

Anyways I could share a tone of his songs but any Star Wars fans should find this to be pretty funny. :P

  3. Watching the FA Cup Final with 5 year old grandson George.

George: "who do you support Grandad?"

Me: "I'm going to support Hull because they are the underdogs"

George: "Well I'll support the overdogs then"

  4. Where are you sitting next season?

I will be returning to the Kop, both myself and Jake miss the stand. I learned to appreciate the Family Stand, I wasn't very keen at first. Very quiet and awkward to sing/chant but by time the season was over I had people joining in and I think the results went along with that. However, it's got to be the Kop.

    What about you?

  5. Been realesed by pool, Would you?

  6. As expected, Man City have broken the FFP rules. The sanctions look harsher than I expected tbh. I expected a small slap on the wrist. It's not a major issue for them, but it is a fly in the ointment for them.

Manchester City face a £50m fine and having to limit their Champions League squad to just 21 players next season, instead of the normal 25, after breaching Uefa Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, Sky News understands.

Under sanctions which the club are contesting, City will also have to cap their spending on Champions League players so spending does not exceed this year's total.

The reduction in the size of the Champions League squad to 21 could hit City hardest, as they will have to continue selecting eight "home-grown" players in the squad.

City are contesting the Uefa sanction, but if they do not agree to the sanctions, set out in an initial "settlement offer", they face even stiffer penalties.

manchester-city2-1-522x293.jpgManchester City's Joe Hart makes a save at Saturday's match against Everton

Final confirmation of the sanctions is expected on Friday, two days before City's title-deciding game against West Ham at the Etihad.

Under the FFP rules, clubs are not permitted to lose more than £37m over two seasons unless they can show that losses have been incurred by investments in club infrastructure, including youth development, academies and stadium development.

In the two seasons tested by Uefa 2011-12 and 2012-13, City's combined losses were almost £150m, with losses of almost £200m in 2010-2011.

While some of those losses can be legitimately written off - for example City are building a £100m playing campus next to the Etihad Stadium - Uefa have concluded not all of their losses are legitimate under the terms of FFP.

manchester-city-1-522x293.jpgManager Pellegrini gesticulates during the Barclays Premier League match

Uefa also examine sources of revenue, which cannot be from "related parties" if they are to count as income for FFP accounting purposes. City's £40m-a-year shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with Etihad, the Abu Dhabi state airline, has been scrutinised, though City says it was done at a fair market rate.

It is understood Uefa found some of City's accounting in their original submission to be less transparent than expected, which has prompted a closer look at all the figures.

City have been on collision course with Uefa over FFP ever since the club's Abu Dhabi owners embarked on an unprecedented spending spree after buying the club in August 2008.

Since then, they have spent more than £600m on transfer fees, winning the FA Cup in 2011, the Premier League in 2012 and the League Cup this season. They require just four points from their remaining two games to be almost certain of winning the league this year.

Paris St Germain, backed by Qatari wealth, have also fallen foul of the FFP rules and face similar sanctions.

  7. If Notts had gone for a more experienced manager when they sacked Kiwomya, there were three other managers who were available at the time if memory serves me well, Nigel Clough, Steve Cotterill and John Gregory.

Clough went to Sheff Utd., and they just missed out on the play offs finishing 7th after being down the bottom with Notts, Steve Cotterill went to Bristol City who ended up finishing a very creditable 12th and I think John Ward was available and he went to Crawley who were also near the bottom and he steered them to safety and a finishing position of 14th.

So had one of these managers been appointed would we have had an easier time at the end of the season and not had the nail biting finish we did have?

Not that I would change anything because I think Derry has done a fantastic job.

  8. Notts County are delighted to announce that striker Jimmy Spencer has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Spencer, who moved to Meadow Lane from Huddersfield Town in February of this year, initially signed on a short-term deal that ran until the end of the season.

He proved a revelation up front for Notts in the final weeks of the season, forming a productive partnership with Ronan Murray.

The 22-year-old scored five goals on the way to helping the club avoid relegation from Sky Bet League 1 and was one of the key performers in Shaun Derry’s reinvigorated side.

Spencer will now head off on his summer break before returning to join up with his team mates at the end of June.

You will be able to see Jimmy’s first interview after signing his new deal on Magpie Player, as well as a chat with manager Shaun Derry, who was delighted to have secured the striker’s signature.

  12. Alot of rumour on the net and after reading JCR's interview in the red rag, I would be surpirsed if any of the players offered contracts stay with us. Seems to me that alot of the players have gotten a little carried away with the great escape and believe we have been promoted! Wrong. We scrapped through by the skin of our teeth from relegation to the lowest league in league football. Players should really remember that even though some showed great form in the last couple of months, the season runs for most of the year, and our club sat rooted to the bottom for most of it!!!

Rumours of £4000 per week for Sheenan from Sheff Utd, I say good luck to him because no Notts fan (and I hope I include Rodders and Ray T in that) would ever consider him worth that! The club is still losing money right, left and centre so the wages need to reflect the league and final position of this seasons table. Crazy money for players that have done well for periods, then not so well will hinder the club even more. Look at Sheenans reaction to Danny Haynes! Then he would like similar money each week.

I like Sheenan as a player and as a motivated captain, and he did give his all for the cause, but 4k a week. Thanks but no thanks.

Same goes for any of the others that feel they can hold us to ransom, including my signature player JCR.

Might need a new signature soon Joe as I think new players will turn out to be starring next season. I trust Derry and GA to steer us correctly during the close season.

Thoughts? Am I being too harsh on the players? (dont get me wrong anybody in their position would look to increase wages and length of contracts, but be reasonable, we avoided relegation. Just.)

  13. Following on from the discussion of Greg Dyke's proposals on a B Team league (aka League 3), a petition has been set up against the idea.  I've included relevant links below:

Dicker says he favours it, can't remember him standing out when we played Crawley on Bank Holiday but as a team they were solid. Anyone know if he's any good?

  15. Hi, First let me thank you for letting me join your site.

Two things have come to light over the past few weeks that we as football fans should be very worried about.

First, is the proposal by Dyke to bring in another league so "B" teams can be used.

Second, is something that is happening at Mildenhall Stockcar, Speedway and greyhound stadium.

The proposal to form another league could spell the end for some lower division and non league teams.  Under the guise of bringing youth through to international level.  This as all the hall marks of Premiership bullying, and will only benefit those at the top.  Could you please sign the petition below

     http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/the-football-association-say-no-to-b-teams

Secondly, and I think should give us most concern is what is happening at Mildenhall stadium.

The Stadium is in the middle of nowhere and has been operating for nearly 40 years. A couple bought a bungalow close to the stadium and started complaining about the noise. It looks like the stadium will have to close after a court ruling.  This ruling has set a presidence, now no stadium is safe. So if you love football, cricket, or even going to a pop concert this WILL effect you.  Please sign the petition below, also the more people that know and sign the better,  Could you please copy and share on social media, facebook ,twitter, ect.   Thanks a very concerned football fan.

  18. Good evening All,

I need your help if possible. Please follow the link provided, to give you an understanding of where I'm coming from.

    www.facebook.com/groups/redscarfunion/

    So, we are starting this season 14/15' in October and we are formulating a supporters group. This will be the first ever in the NHL. As you can see from the Facebook page, we are going to go all out this season and beyond. I'll give you a few ideas of what were up against;

Ottawa is in between Toronto and Montreal, our tickets are normally 25 to 50% less than Toronto Montreal. When Toronto and Montreal come to our stadium, sadly they outnumber us a lot. So we want to take our city back.

We have been in contact with upper management of the organization, and they want to emulate the football cheering and chanting. They want to be the loudest in the NHL.

I've been to a few games with the RSU. And both times, I felt right at home just like I was standing up at the top of the Zblock. Bloody love it.

So rightly so, i've been tasked with Being the maestro for close to 3000 people ha ha ha.

I need more chants and songs from over there, of course I know the basics and majority of chants. But need a few more. What is that one "This City is ours" ??? Qe beed that one ha ha

    Thanks for all your help

    C

  19. I always find things to during the summer of course. But it still ain't the same is it.

    12 -13 weeks to go (2nd or 9th?)

  20. The boss has asked me to let everyone know that he has no internet access at the moment.Apparently Virgin are doing repairs in his area.He lost connection yesterday and Virgin said the work would take 2 days, so hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow. He send his apologies to all.

  21. Hey guys so I'm thinking of showing my support next year by buying season tickets though I can't make it to a single game. Should I do that? Give my tickets away to a lucky person every game? Or should I better serve my money with a player sponsership? Or something along those lines? As a far away supporter I'd like to do good with my money being spent half a world away. What do you all think?
