Former Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov 'like a little kid' again

The 35-year-old Bulgarian was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2012 and retired in May 2013 , but is now playing Sunday League football for Midlands side Wychall Wanderers.
Petrov's treatment is due to end shortly and he says it is "incredible being able to smile again".
Brilliant story, so sad to this happen to someone who was doing fantastically well in his career. However, as always it's good to see him turning it in to a positive. I admire the fact he's playing for Wychall Wanderers because I suspect he could go higher, perhaps just beneath the Non League.
Hope he manages to step up and end his career having one last "big" day.
Due to the International games there are no championship fixtures this weekend, so instead we have three fixtures from league one and three from league two.
Β
This Saturday's Fixtures:
Doncaster Rovers v Sheffield United
Swindon Town v Bristol City
Walsall v Peterborough United
AFC WimbledonΒ v Dagenham & Redbridge
Shrewsbury Town v Mansfield Town
Stevenage v Cheltenham Town

Indonesia Earthquake Triggers Tsunami Warning
A large earthquake has hit the waters off eastern Indonesia, triggering the possibility of a tsunami in the region.
There have been no reports of casualties or major damage
Β
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 under the sea in eastern Indonesia sparked a tsunami warning and caused residents in coastal areas to flee their homes.
Β
The quake struck at a depth of 28 miles (46 km) near the MalukuΒ Islands, which are about a four-hour flight from the capital, Jakarta.Β
There have been no reports of casualties or major damage.
Β
Indonesia's meteorological agency said a tsunami wave of 9 cmΒ (3.54 in) washed onto the small island of Jailolo but caused no damage.
Β
The quake was strongly felt in several cities in eastern Indonesia, sending many people to run from homes and other buildings, officials and residents said.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully this goes by without problems, it's quite lucky that the earthquake hasn't caused major damage or worse the loss of lives. I genuinely hope the same can be said for any possible Tsunami.
I'm also surprised I haven't heard anything on the radio.

So, if we beat Doncaster Rovers - Notts would progress to the semi final of the JPT.
Interesting situation could then occur, as Preston or Oldham have to take each other on. We could end up with the team we survived and retained our League One status, being Oldham or we could ultimately face up against the side we kicked off our 2014/2015 League One campaign against after surviving, I.E Preston.
@Pies4u highlighted the important of this competition, it's given something to help retain form and after the disappointment of seeing the Doncaster game(s) postponed.
Well, I am just eager to see how far Notts can go now.
In the Southern Section
Bristol City v Coventry City
Leyton Orient vs Gillingham FC
Could Wembley being calling? Who would you prefer Preston or Oldham? Which side do you see progressing from the Southern section?
Discuss folks.

As it is the 11th of the 11th, I thought I would repost this poem, which is Notts County related so appropriate for this forum.
Β
I will be taking a few moments of silent reflection today at 11am, its the least we can do for those that gave up their future for us.
Β
This Poem Was Written By An Unknown Soldier During The First World War and Shows That Even In Those Dark Days Humour was Apparent, Besides Which Everyone Was Football Mad.
THE BURNING QUESTION
Three Tommies sat in a trench one day,
Discussing the war in the usual way,
They talked of the mud and they talked of the Hun,
Of what was to do and what had been done,
They talked about rum, and-tis hard to believe,
They even found time to speak about leave,
But the point which they argued from post back to pillar,
Was whether Notts County could beat Aston villa,
The night sped away and zero drew nigh,
Equipment made ready all lips getting dry,
And watches consulted with each passing minute
Till five more to go then twould find them all in it,
The word came along the line to get ready!
The sergeant admonishing all to keep steady,
But out rang a voice getting shriller and shriller,
I tell yer Notts County can beat Aston Villa!
The earth shook and swayed and the barrage was on
As they leapt o'er the top with a rush, and were gone
Away into Hun land through mud and though wire
Stabbing and dragging themselves though the mire
No time to heed those who are following en route
Till stopped by a strong point they lay down to shoot,
Then through the din came a voice " Say Jack Miller! "
"I tell yer Notts County can beat Aston Villa"
The strong point has gone, and forward they press
Towards their objective in number grown less
They reach it at last and prepare to resist
The counter_attack, which will come through the mist
Of the rain falling steadily, dig and hang on
The word for support back to H.Q has gone
The air charged with moment grows stiller and stiller---
" Notts County's no earthly against Aston Villa "
Two " Blighties ", a struggle through mud to get back
To the old A.D.S down a rough duck board track
A hasty field dressing a ride in a car
A wait in a C.C.S., then there they are
Packed side by side in a clean Red Cross train,
Happy in hopes to see Blighty again,
Still, through the bandages, muffled "Jack Miller,
I bet you Notts County can beat Aston Villa! "

Fans of the Sky Blues have been through the proverbial in recent seasons, and - despite being "sent to Coventry" having positive connotations since their return to the Ricoh - their FA Cup exit at home to Worcester must rank as a new recent low.

The welcome to @DangerousSausage thread, has had me reminiscing about bygone days, and I have just relived a trip we often took on a weekend.
Β
Starting off in Krefeld Germany, we used to go on a pub crawl to Dusseldorf. Some distance and not a drink driver in sight.
We would have a couple of scoops of beer before jumping on a tram bound for D-Dorf. Fortunately there were plenty of stops along the way, so the journey was to alight at each stop, and as luck would have it, there was always a bar or outlet within sight that sold beer.
Β
Off we would go, have a beer, use the facilities and then keep an eye out for the approaching tram... this would continue all the way to the Altstadt in Dusseldorf, where the party would continue in earnest with a fine night on the town.
Β
The only flaw tot he plan, there were plenty of sleeping squaddies on the Dusseldorf Station platforms waiting for the first zug back to Krefeld the following morning.
Β
Those were the days indeed...
Β
Does anybody have any other mammoth pub crawls they do, have done?

Alan Johnson Won't Run For Labour Leader
The former Home Secretary says he will not challenge Ed Miliband, who insists there is no crisis over his leadership.

Alan Johnson says he won't fight for the Labour leadership
Labour MP Alan Johnson has ruled himself out of any bid for the leadership of the Labour Party.
The former Home Secretary used a column in The Guardian to explain why he would not challenge under-fire Ed Miliband.
"I have never stood for the leadership of my party - and for the avoidance of doubt, regardless of the circumstances, I never will," he wrote.
"Ed Miliband is entitled to expect our loyalty.
"I believe that he is the only party leader who can promise real and lasting change, rather than a return to business as usual. He is the only political leader who can stop a retreat from the consensus of decency that has traditionally characterised BritainΓ’β¬β’s role in the world."
Β
Oh Dear. Not sure Ed is up to the job. In fact I don't think I ever was. Another stint for David C then...

The young 'Pies went out of the FA Youth Cup at the first round away at London Road 2-0.
Β
Due to injury and illness Notts were without four second year scholars so the team had a young and lightweight look to it with four first year scholars in the team and two players brought in from the under-16 team.
Β
The usual team captain, Jordan Richards was strangely replaced by a youngster from the under-16 team - named Jordan Richards!
Β
Colby Bishop took on the role of captain for this game.
Β
Posh took the lead after only five minutes and looked like they might score a few more as they dominated the first half.Β Since Paul Hart joined Notts have favoured a diamond formation in midfield with Colby at the front point but means he is sitting deeper than when in his more traditional 'centre-forward' role.
Β
The second half saw an improved Notts performance culminating in a 25 yard shot from Jordan Richards which crashed against the top of the post.Β But Posh weren't to be denied and an even better shot from 30 yards by substitute Da-Silva-Lopes deserved to win the game.
Β
Harry Anderson, the Posh right-back was clearly the Man of the Match with an outstanding display including numerous surging runs and clever close control.

I saw this has been discussed on PoN facebook page but for those of us who don't frequent facebook. What did you think of the booing at the end of Accrington game?
Β
Do you think booing the team off is justified in view of the performance.
Β
Or do you think you should clap and support the team no matter what.
Β
Personally I did neither, I would never boo (except the referee) either during or after a match but neither did I think that the performance warranted by applause. For those who went did you boo or applaud at the end and why? For those who didn't go would you have booed or would you have applauded or neither?

Notts Ladies Jess Clarke Nomination

The 25-year-old, who has been called up to the England squad for the friendly with Germany on November 23, finished the season with 15 goals in all competitions and has been shortlisted for the prestigious accolade that will be presented in London on Friday.
Madame Tussauds is the venue for the glittering ceremony and Clarke is proud to be shortlisted for the top award alongside BirminghamΓ’β¬β’s Karen Carney and ChelseaΓ’β¬β’s Ji So Yun.
Γ’β¬ΕI put in a lot of hard work at the start of the season and I was scoring goals,Γ’β¬Β Clarke told Sky Sports News HQ. Γ’β¬ΕI was a threat up front but I never thought I would be nominated for the PlayersΓ’β¬β’ Player of the Year award.
Delighted
Γ’β¬ΕIΓ’β¬β’m absolutely delighted, itΓ’β¬β’s amazing to be honest. It took me completely by surprise but at the same time itΓ’β¬β’s nice to be recognised by your fellow players.
Γ’β¬ΕThe leagueΓ’β¬β’s really competitive at the minute and there are a number of players who have had really solid seasons and to be recognized in that company is a massive compliment.
Γ’β¬ΕItΓ’β¬β’s not by chance that those players have also been nominated and I think they are both worthy candidates and whoever wins on the night will probably be deserving of the trophy.Γ’β¬Β
A serious knee injury to team-mate Ellen White gave Clarke, who has spent much of her career playing out wide, the chance to operate as the focal point of CountyΓ’β¬β’s attack last season.
Character
Clarke is confident England striker White will be back to her best soon and will add quality to CountyΓ’β¬β’s squad next term.
Γ’β¬ΕEllenΓ’β¬β’s a tough character and I know she will come back from her injury very strong,Γ’β¬Β Clarke said.
Γ’β¬ΕHer injury was disappointing for everyone. We were working a lot with each other during pre-season and working very effectively with one another.
Γ’β¬ΕIt will be massive when we get Ellen back. It will really push our squad on and make us stronger.Γ’β¬Β

As MAD seems to be going towards a ΓΒ£2 per month subscription for ad-free viewing, we might have an influx of members in the next few weeks. I don't expect many to seriously pay to view MAD, but the other side of the coin is the mods on here need to keep tight control as I would really hate to see the debates we have here descend into intolerance and disrespect like they do on there.
