this is brilliant news, i think he is far the better player we signed in hope to keeping us in the football league. i am glad he will get the chance to play for us again in league two and work towards us establishing ourselves as hopefully a top half team. which is what we deserve! great news.

Jim is a very useful squad player. He comes on from the bench and gives his all. He starts and helps, keeping up with many of the younger players. I understand some fans’ point of view when it comes to his age, yet I see it as a blessing.

He has so much knowledge of the game to pass onto others while still being able to contribute at a high standard. A few misplaced games here and there are nothing; he is largely more consistent than most. I am very happy.

Very happy with this as I think LW got another level out of Jim that we haven’t seen before. One more year is great as he is worth several points a season just from his presence in the dressing room. Just need KC to agree now and my prediction of keeping 5 out of the 7 will be spot on!

Jim is a sensible renewal, one I am pleased to see confirmed. I think he offers us more than some fans realise, and it’s easy to write players off. Yet I have seen some comments quite disrespectful on social media and wonder why fans supported Michael Doyle when he left the first chance he had? Jim has been nothing but loyal; he deserves this deal and respect.

I am delighted and over the moon to see Jim has signed; I think he deserves it and for most of last season, he was a true warrior on the pitch. I can only recall one game where he wasn’t at his best; even during his time at Notts, I have seen few, so it’s great news.

I don’t think anyone should complain that Jim has signed on for one more year; we should get behind him and be thankful for his contributions because he is a firm part of the team. He has helped in many ways to make Notts the team it is today; that should be remembered.

As I said in the article, Jim is an important squad player and him staying on for another season is a blessing. On the back of Ruben’s departure, it’s good to see the current longest-serving player agree to a new deal. It’s a boost for the whole team.

I sleep during the day, but my wife woke me up to tell me the news about Ruben. She didn’t, however, wake me up to inform me Jim had signed a one-year deal. I arrived at work without checking any social media or news, to log on here and see it. I think O’Brien has been class for Notts; such a humble and decent guy. It’s good when you have players like him who can come in and do a job but also impact games.

Who wouldn’t be delighted to see Jim playing for Notts again in League Two? He has been on one hell of a journey for Notts and I am pleased, just like others have said, that he has signed a new deal. One year is long in football; he may keep going. He may retire?! I don’t worry so much about the future now; it’s just good to have it settled.

Jim may be in the twilight of his career, but he still plays an effective role within the squad. His ability to play out wide gives us options when needed. The news of Jim’s extension was brilliant. To get it sorted and to know he will be a part of our League Two return makes me so happy. He was one of the few players who felt what the fans did when we lost to Swindon. He stuck with us, despite the fact others would have been interested.

The news of Jim O’Brien is very pleasing to know; it’s one player who fits in and understands what Luke Williams is doing. He can cover the positions needed and is happy to be used as and when required. I think Jim retiring at Notts will be sad, but at the same time it will be nice knowing it isn’t elsewhere.

Jim’s experience gives the club the right balance with the age range of the squad. I would welcome a few youngsters and our own youth players to step up. Pair them with a first-team player; see who shines and who doesn’t. We have to give youngsters a chance; otherwise players like Jim O’Brien wouldn’t have such good careers. It’s good to have him still playing.

Jim is a robust and determined player. I like the fact that he focuses on what matters to himself and tries to just do what he can on the pitch. He still has a good pair of legs and those goals towards the end prove it.

I don't believe that players should have to retire just because they reach a certain age. Jim is a good example of this. He played well last year and I was hoping he would stay with the team. Now that he has renewed his contract, I'm really happy.
