It seems we are interested in Jermaine Easter.

He's a reasonably decent striker, who could actually do a job in this league but it seems he isn't interested in leaving Millwall.

Notts County are interested in Jermaine Easter, says Millwall boss Ian Holloway.

Holloway says the Magpies have sent a scout to watch the 32-year-old striker, who has only started two league games this season.
But he insists Easter is still in his plans at the Championship club.

“He could have gone out on loan and I’ve not let him go out on loan,” said Holloway.

If any deal included a fee and a transfer, I personally would rather see it being spent elsewhere. It seems that is what Ian Holloway is seeking but what price would you put on Jermaine Easter? If the rumours are about us having money, it would be better spent on younger players.

Thoughts?

his record does not scream sigh him to me, tho he did okay for mk dons a few seasons back.

i do not know all that much about him tbh but it would be nice to sign someone who could score. i would knock it if we did sign him but my thoughts are that we could probably avoid using what cash we have on a player who does not bring confidence.

If it was a good price, perhaps.

I would hate to see what ever we do have wasted on a striker who might not get results. I am sure abbott and derry know who will fit in, so if they opt for Easter he will get my backing.

I'm not sure as to whether we already have our quota of 30+ year old players?  While I am happy to have older players, Gary Jones has been sublime so far this season, however I worry that it would destabilize us in the long run if all these players suddenly retired/got injured.

specifically with regards to Jermaine, a trial by wiki shows he seems to have been out on loan a lot, and has been to a fair few clubs. As @liampie says, doesn't seem prolific, however anything seems possible with the Derry effect (i.e. Thompson's hot streak)

He could do a job for us, but iv also heard about a blackstock loan which would be better imo. Loads better player aswel.

Wasn't we 'in' for him a while back? Seem to remember rumours of it somewhere a long time ago. Not really my cup of tea if we're paying for him!!!

Blackstock has said no to Sheff Utd due to L1 so we've got no chance!

Give Cassidy a run now he is fit or even better, Harrad and Thompson!

Ok, Jermaine Easter...

As @liampie said he is hardly prolific, and looking at his "trial by wiki"... it seems that when he goes out on loan to a club he does well enough (not scoring enough) to warrant a permanent deal, but then after a season he is out on loan and moved on again.

That to me says no thank you..

I would at the moment give Harrad and Thompson the nod up top.

The money hang on to, there might well be some high loan wages to pay, come January in the bid to fire us to the Utopia that is the Championship..

I don't see how we need another striker tbh, we could with a permanent / semi permanent Mclaughlin style player and also being picky we could do with someone with a bit of guile from central midfield

I think he could do a decent job for us. If Derry believes he will do a job for us, Mr Easter will have my full backing.

I think he would be good in this league.

@hissingdwarf are you thinking of Scotland? Never knew we was in for him and I look for rumours.

Might have been. I think we need to move forward with a younger striker at the mo. We've got to think of the next few years as well as this year. Mullins, Smithy, Jones and of course Carrol are all great for the job now, but what about two years time? Only Roy stands a chance of competing then.

Look at Garry Thompson. Came into the club with a mixed review as a loyal, but over the hill, no speed winger. Hard worker, but nothing more. Who could have guessed he'd bang them in like he is now, including me? Great but he won't be doing it in the championship in 2 yrs time, which is surely the aim for SD and GA.

Hopefully Spencer can rekindle with Murray and get them firing. If not Harrad etc needs a run out before we look at anyone older.

Blackstock? Would have been good for a run in, but hes not interested so we keep looking, but I'd prefer younger and more agile with a future rather than a long past.

Easter was a half decent prospect 10 years ago. Done very little in the recent past, best days behind him, huge risk - massive.

Blackstock? Yes, heard those rumours too. Another nearly man, think his best days are behind him too tbh. Prefer him to Easter tho'.

We can do better, surely?

I would hope we can sign a more suitable player.

Younger hopefully, we just need someone who can finish and is a little pacey. No sure Jermaine Easter would be the answer to that.

Not sure about Easter - agree with suggesting we need a midfielder with some 'guile' - to make the 'killer pass' and unlock the packed defences which are appearing at The Lane recently

Out out Target man needed Asap. The deep and direct style we seem to play at home especially, needs holding up to allow petrasso and McLaughlin time to get out of the 451 and into an effective 433.

Easter came off the bench in Millwall's 0-0 draw at Charlton. Unless Millwall get someone in, I doubt they'll let him go.

This is cropping up again, Derry's admitted to having held talks.

“I have had discussions about Jermaine,” he said.

“But I saw he was on the bench in midweek and he has done really well.

“That comes as no surprise either.

“When you are looking at the transfer window, we are playing fourth, fifth and six fiddle.

“It’s a knock-on effect and if teams in the Championship get the players they want then it might open up a few avenues our way.”

At 30+  he is coming to the end of his playing days, and would think  that he wants to make the most of his ability and play as often as he can.

I dont know but he gives me the impression that he would not put Notts down as his first choice of move, so if he is bringing anything less than 100% commitment don't bother to come at all.
