Are you a fair weather fan?

Fair Weather Fan

A fan of a sports team who only shows support when the team is doing well. During hard times they usually bandwagon other teams. They basically have no real loyalty to the team, but still manage to get better seats than you at the game. Strangely they mysteriously vanish at the first sign of trouble.

Certainly I feel there's a strong element to this, however it's their choice.

I think sometimes people just don't know how to react, others get bored and this type of thing extends to all walks of life. You can be active within something, enjoying it and then the next find it very hard. I think it says more about the characters of those who are strong and passionate.

There's no chance of me being a fair weather fan, yet I would say I feel equal to most fans I know.

That is an explanation of some of the fans that complain all season but claim to support other teams or just don't turn up to games. Obviously circumstances change, people move and are ill or unable to make games and thats completly different

im fair weather as much as i am a glory supporter, i got into notts because of the fans and i support my club through thick and thin. i dont think anyone would admit to being this @CliftonMagpie but some stick out like a sore thumb.

We have won promotion once in the last 21 years, and we spent much of that season worrying about the club going into liquidation. There are no fair weather Notts County fans.

I respectfully disagree.

Some who claim to be fans are not, they might attend a few games but when the tough times set in they soon disappear. Why do attendances suddenly jump during promotion chasing seasons? It's a sad fact of football.

I wouldn't class myself as a fair weather fan, as I do have loyalty to Notts but there are times I feel like stepping back.

I see your point, but it's only natural to feel more motivated when Notts are doing well. It also makes matches more appealing to casual fans, and it's easier to persuade people who aren't Notts fans to come along.

To answer your question, I don't think so. I was always at home games when I lived in the UK as routine is an important part of football for me. Now I only visit a few times a year, so the football sometimes loses out. I did make a special effort to see the Grimsby match though - but like I said, people are more motivated when it comes to crunch matches.

Points raised for both cases, I do feel some fans are fair weather more so than they're glory hunters.

I have been attending games and supporting the club for many years now, I am unfazed by the disappointment and have come to expect bad seasons. Relegation from the Football League was something I never dreamt would happen in my life time.

Honestly, I would say I am a bit of a fair weather fan. Supporting Notts has its limits and you can naturally get tired of all the hassle attached with following a club like this. I have no interest in any other teams but the club can get difficult to support at times.

I don't attend as many games now due to my location, but I am actively searching and supporting Notts. No, I wouldn't class myself as a fair weather fan.

I do agree they're out there but this is an element within every club.

I know I am not, but with work and Uni work I feel like I am a fair weather fan.

I haven't purchased a season ticket, I have no plans to attend many games but I will make what I can at home. Whatever away from it too, yet it wont be many I am afraid.
