Going to be hard to replace, if it happens

Picking up a keeper, imo, won’t be that hard. You’ve got to hope that radar has this covered and a gem could be found if needed.
There are also a few good keepers in the league already, but I don’t expect the club will be paying a fee for players this summer.

I’m on the fence about Slocombe. Won’t be upset if he leaves and same if he stays. For this level, good keeper. Could we do better? Probably, but we’re not playing footy manager.

I would be sad if he goes and hope it's just gossip. He's not perfect (who at this level is?) but he's solid and reliable. We've already got a fair bit of work to do bringing in wide men and bolstering the defence, so the fewer changes we have to make to the spine of the team the better.

If anyone is disappointed, then I would suggest that it's Notts who needs to ensure contracts are offered to players who can move us forward. Sam Slocombe shouldn't be playing at this level in his career just yet, he's a decent worker and it's a shame he's gone. I can't fault him for making the move though.

Ideally, Christian Walton would be a far better target but I doubt he wouldn't attract interest from League One clubs.

Big loss if Sam goes and he will be very hard to replace. Been a consistent performer for 2 solid seasons with us.

Do you know something we don’t, or do you just think it’s a no-brainer move cos it’s a league club?

I really hope he stays too, solid shot-stopping and I think he commands his area well too. Signing someone to compete with him has been hard enough, I don’t really want to be looking 2 new keepers…

Notts must start offering extensions to players earlier, like they did with Cal Roberts. Losing Sam Slocombe will be a big hit to the squad, he's by far the best keeper in the Non League.

Let's just say my eyes, sees what it believes and then my head agrees. After that, it takes time to sink in that I've mistaken the information sometimes. 😒

I do think he will leave though, I see no reason for him to remain here at the moment.

PS. I'm checking things a million times now before I comment. 😆🎭

i think there is going to be a real shake up, with jake reeves leaving i can easily see sam slocombe returning to the football league. why would he remain here? if he does extend his stay, i think it would be a signal that he believes we will strengthen enough to push for promotion properly but at this stage in time i think it looks unlikely.

It would be a concern if we lost Sam Slocombe, with Jake Reeves departing it looks like a total rebuild in those crucial areas.

Yes. Losing Reeves is neither here nor there, as long as it's isolated. If Slocombe has his head turned, JOB doesn't fancy it, we will have a big overhaul on our hands.

I fear losing Sam Slocombe would leave us weak at the back, at this level there aren't many keepers as good as him.

A vocal and commanding keeper is the prize asset in any side.

I’d be surprised if Slocombe stays tbh. I’m of the view that what’ll be will be. I’m sure with us releasing the backup keepers, we have a good list of replacements.

Reeves moving on was a shock, but I think it will help long term as IB can seriously put the stamp on his team now.

New keeper.

His recent interview regards wanting to keep the back 3 means for me it’s vital we secure Miller. Chicksen will play with Lacey as 2 of the 3 cbs. Need another ball playing cb as well as Rawlinson is lost in a back 3, unless the move to the centre spot is available to him. Lacey on right side? Chicksen on the left side? Brindley as rwb and Miller hopefully as lwb.

Two new midfielders, strong, pacey  and tall preferably!

Ruben and Cal behind Woots.

Subs

Knight, Job, DKE, Brooks, and another cb/midfielder.

Sam will be a loss and difficult to replace. A reliable goalkeeper is worth their weight in points saved.

If he remains at Notts, I would be shocked because the Football League is a far more attractive offer.

Most keepers can be replaced, something Notts tends to do well is in this department. Have we had a terrible first team goalkeeper in the last 10 years? I don't think we have.
