  1. I think they see him as being in contention next season and want him out on loan getting playing experience rather than sitting on the bench, so it could be a win-win all round.

  2. Well that’s a step in the right direction we did need more competition in that department, its not good news for Tiernan Brooks though is it? He’ll drop back down the pecking order.

  5. Hmm, not sure this is the answer to the current GK scenario. The positive is that he played the whole season for Aldershot last season but he’s only played 7 league games out of 27 for Crawley this season. If he was really good surely, he’d have started all/most of them. We scored 6 goals past him in two games and in one of them he was caught in the middle of nowhere for Didzy’s goal... So yeah, maybe he'll do well for us, I'll judge him on our time with us.

  6. i think it shows that people dont feel tiernan brooks is ready enough to handle being our regular keeper, which seems a bit of a kick in the teeth. if this signing does not end up playing much, it will be disappointing. i dont feel we needed to bring in a keeper but i am glad for the competition. i just feel we should try brooks before, as i still feel sam slocombe and aidan stone are more than good enough despite the mistakes.

  7. I think he will be on the bench as well this weekend. Our style needs understanding between our players and I don't think they will have this at this stage. I think it's less important for the goalkeeper, but I think it will be a couple of weeks before we see him.

  8. I remember Matty Gill, Gary Mills played him out of position, transfer listed him and he quickly became a target for the boo boys. He didn't have a good time with us, but went on to have a decent career. However, both of our appointments under the brothers have had experience as the number one, so I can't see it happening. As for Stendel, he led Barnsley to promotion but didn't pull up many trees after that. He's currently managing the B team of Hannover 96, who are top of the Regionalliga Nord, Germany's regional fourth division. Not sure how I'd feel about that. But the owners tend to look at coaching credentials rather than the managerial track record, otherwise Luke Williams wouldn't have got the job.

  11. Yeah it's interesting the brothers clearly don't just look at win percentage, neither IB or LW had particularly great records before coming to us. I'm not too fused if the new guy is in a similar situation. The more I think about it the more I can see it being someone like Brian Barry-Murphy, in that he had 109 games in charge of a Rochdale but his record on paper doesn't look that great. However look at where Rochdale are now, they've just bombed since he left so it was clearly not a well run club he was managing at. This is the kind of thing the Bros will look into and they'll find out how he really did there. There's clearly much more to it than just win %. But it is an odd thing that some people do get hung up on. I'd imagine a lot of other owners do and wouldn't have thought much had Luke Williams applied at their club. Now they all know it was a massive missed opportunity as he was available for a couple of months before we got him!

  12. According to the OS, Brooks is being loaned out in Ireland again. I've no idea whether this bloke will start on Saturday. If LW were in charge he might have, but the interim management team might be more reluctant to rock the boat too much. Does anyone remember him playing for Aldershot or Crawley? Some of Crawley's fans don't seem to rate him too highly, but we shall see. Hope he's given a fair chance!

  13. was this the season neil warnock was sacked? can any of those who were watching at the time explain why we did not give him longer? it seems he introduced a lot of upcoming talent to our squad and i know we had some great players waiting to get their chances. the first goal from phil turner? it was a lovely strike.

  14. yes, i have watched the first episode now. i think the internet has changed so much since this happened that its a lot harder for things to stay hidden if enough people kick up a fuss. with social media especially, i know some of the interviews victims have given in the news, they thank the public and itv for the drama. its just very sad to see how people who are to blame for this to happen are getting away with less repercussions.

  15. It was a decent interview, though I believe Jim O’Brien might struggle to maintain the role if it extends beyond a single match. We appear to be taking our time with the appointment, which could be beneficial. It’s also reassuring to know he has the backing of two other coaches. However, he does seem a bit anxious to me.

  22. Matt Gill was awful @menzinho, I think Gary Mills signed him which says it all. But most times it’s the not so great players that make the best coaches, so who knows who it will be. We’ve all guessed but I bet hardly anyone gets it right.

  30. @Piethagoram i read one time when @Chris or @Joe Jones [i forget if it was before jj left] posted about this as an on this day, someone mentioned that it caused iain mcculloch to retire earlier and how he was not the same after. a few others seemed to suggest that it was done on purpose, but looking at the video it does seem accidental. some of those saying it was done on purpose suggested the keeper that fouled him was known for his aggressive play. it looked like a freak accident that should have seen the united keeper red carded.

  35. I can’t wait for him to return as I think he is a great talent. We have really missed him because he would be great backup and challenging for a starting place every week. We have had no attacking threat off the bench since he has been injured. I hope the club does the right thing and offers him a chance to earn a new contract, I would hate to see him walk away in the summer.

  40. It is @liampie, it is a great watch on ITVX and it really does strike home how terrible the whole affair was. I actually used to get Computer Weekly delivered to me free, and I remember reading a little about it at the time but never really took much notice of it, it was only when this programme started that you start to learn some of the facts and the more you read, the more shocking it becomes! It also now appears that the police are now starting to investigate it.
