Hello, @Niederbayern Pie. The Pride of Nottingham has plenty of discussion and content to keep you entertained. Join in and share your thoughts. Welcome!

I understand that Christmas can be a challenging period for some, so I wanted to extend a hand to the PON community. If anyone is struggling or would like to chat with someone who's always ready to listen, please feel free to send me a private message.

In the meantime, how about we engage in a general chat about topics not related to football?

I'm aware that Tony usually posts about the weekends, but I thought we could discuss what everyone is planning for Christmas and the New Year? To get the conversation started, we can then shift to any topic that comes up. The main goal is to have a discussion where we all listen to each other.

  • Playing Rawlinson on the left back fired. His pass was charged down but on the highlights, the first penalty, just looked like an invitation to dive over Bostocks leg?ย

The ref failed to give a clear hand ball (penalty)ย  to Notts in the 2nd half.

The 2nd penalty, build up was conceding a needless corner.

Our failure to defend the corner properly perhaps led to Crowleyย  being adjudged to have impeded their guy?

I was pretty sure, Jake Reeves would hit it down the middle... Slocombe looks nowhere near to saving a penalty.

Notts certainly made it harder for themselves, showing resilience to level the score but repeating the same errors that initially gave Wimbledon the lead. Nottsโ€™ defence was lacking throughout the match, with too much dependence on Sam Slocombe to pull off a rescue act. We need to see more urgency in defence when teams figure out how to breach our back three.

Also, thereโ€™s no disputing that penalty - Crowley clearly held onto the Wimbledon player. But Notts do need to improve their defence of set pieces.

As a long-time supporter of Notts, Iโ€™ve seen us go through highs and lows, gaining invaluable experience along the way. Facing Wimbledon now, we had hoped to leverage that experience. Their recent performance suggested a potential vulnerability, and we aimed to capitalise on that. However, maintaining the integrity of the game and avoiding disorderly play was paramount. I had high hopes that our midfield could be the game-changer, given their proven ability to dominate in previous matches. Unfortunately, we were unable to bring that control to bear this time. Despite the defeat, we remain hopeful for future games.

I was on the bus the other day and someone piped up โ€œYOUPIES!โ€ It was a Forest supporter who had spotted my Notts hat. He engaged me in conversation about Notts he seemed quite knowledgeable with regards the team and said we need to bolster the defence.

He mentioned two Forest players who are out of favour and not even training with the team after a fall out of some kind.

One was Worall and I think the other was McKenna he says they might want to get games and suggested Notts take them on loan, he reckons Forest would be happy and probably pay their wages.

Iโ€™m not sure theyโ€™d want to drop to league two but he reckoned they probably would to stay local and get games.

What do you reckon?

we have players who on their day can play as cbs but that does not make them their best positions. we are currently forcing people into roles where they are not as comfortable. teams in my opinion have figured this out and i am hoping luke williams and the club realise we need players who are centre backs to succeed. training will only get us so far.

Morning all the weekend is upon us again, is anyone doing anything exciting?ย

Letโ€™s hear what your up to or have been up to?

For me tonight itโ€™s curry night as usual and Mrs. T tells me sheโ€™s doing a Chicken Biryani, canโ€™t wait. Tonight Iโ€™ll watch the match on Sky, Forest v Spurs, should be good.

Tomorrow I might venture out to the Park Run my son Chris is going so Iโ€™ll get a lift. Then Iโ€™ll listen to the Notts match on Radio Nottingham.

Sunday to be decided.

Weโ€™ve definitely been sussed by teams and they know how to play against us, Iโ€™ve never heard Luke Williams so angry in an interview. I hope he can figure a way to get us out of this sticky patch. I feel sorry for all the travelling fans who made the journey.

It's hard not to think about relegation but I think we should be OK. Staying up is all I hoped for. Anything else is a bonus.ย

We are 21 points clear. We could conceivably lose all our remaining games (which we won't) and still stay up.

As for being sussed out, we were sussed out years ago. Every team we play knows that the best way to play is is to press us high and stop the back three play it out. It's not rocket science, but it didn't use to matter because we were too good.

What we saw yesterday was nowhere near as good as last season, let alone as good as we need for L2. The game got away from us due to two straightforward goals, but we didn't threaten at all either. Time and again our defenders had the ball and were forced to play it back because there was no movement in front of them, no one was making himself available for the ball. We miss Palmer badly, and LW moving Austin into the middle instead of bringing on Gosling speaks volumes as to the latter's chances of staying. The January window will determine whether we can push for the top seven, or whether we'll end up in the bottom half.

I was expecting us to lose a few this season, but not as lethargically as that. I expect to see a bit of fight when things aren't going well, not a limp surrender. It was a deserved and easy win for Harrogate.ย

Yeah, that was not good. Shrewsbury was all about individual errors, the Walsall game (although I didnโ€™t go) was a dreadful second half. Well this was the complete performance, pretty dire for the whole 90.

Harrogate looked up for it at the start, almost waiting for us to make a mistake, but they didnโ€™t need to. They did in 5 minutes what we struggled to do all game, attack and get us running backwards, a neat-cut back and an annoyingly great finish and thatโ€™s us 1-0 down. Then Harrogate just sat back, and let us pass it around for a bit until they decided to string together another 5 passes and score. For all our possession it was too easy for Harrogate we played far too safe and just had the ball for the sake of having it. Far too many backward passes when a bit of bravery was needed. We must have played about 1 or 2 balls in behind their defence that first half, I couldโ€™ve played in at CB they were that untroubled. Our ability to get the byline and put dangerous crosses in has just gone.

2nd half wasnโ€™t any better, our goal came out of nowhere but it gave me hope we could nick a draw... That hope lasted for about 90 seconds, just an inability to read the game, itโ€™s like we got too over excited and went all out to immediately equalise. Just like in the first half, Harrogate made about 4 passes, got up the pitch and nice bit of play in the box and itโ€™s 3. No defensive howlers, Stone's contribution for the second aside, but that was so passive we just let them run past us constantly and failed to make tackles time and time again. It reminded me of the Sutton game.

We had our best spell in the last 15 minutes of the game, not a positive though, Harrogate had pretty much given up by then, they knew they could take it easy and we hadnโ€™t really laid a glove on them all game. I donโ€™t know why weโ€™ve gone so off the boil at the moment, weโ€™ve gone from all-out attack to no attack. We look off the pace, we look vulnerable as soon as we lose the ball. So yeah, all in all an awful day out! Only made better by the fact I was there with an old friend who lives nearby, so I was able to have a few drinks after and forget (try to) the whole 90 minutes.

I saw the Stockport score and they are next up. Play like that and we are in serious trouble, donโ€™t even bother turning up in fact. Whatโ€™s the punishment for not fulfilling a fixture? A fine and a 2-0/3-0 loss? Iโ€™d take that.

LED perimeter boards will be installed at Meadow Lane in the new year and businesses can now express their interest in utilising them for the final 10 home matches of our exciting 2023-24 Sky Bet League Two season.

The state-of-the-art boards will form a 110-metre strip in front of the Jimmy Sirrel Stand, in prime view of the main broadcast camera and within sight of all supporters in the Derek Pavis, Kop and Family stands.
