  1. As the title says, keep it clean and give reactions to the images you like or find funny.

  2. ..or the chickens coming home to roost.

The defence last season was so well protected by the likes of Hewitt, Yates and Hawkridge and since the departure of Yates, he was the key player that has not been replaced.

Player identification is the key for success. Look at Accrington last season, 23rd in L2 in terms of revenues yet the budget was allocated so precisely and a balanced team won promotion

By offering O'Connor allegedly 3 contract offers, we then panicked and signed Vaughan...the wrong type of midfielder when we already had Husin. Neither can tackle and win the second ball, yet players like Harry Pell were available at the right price and Colchester rightly identified him as a Bishop / O'Connor / Yates like midfielder

Similarly, Omar Sowunmi contract had expired and his towering performance Friday night, showed that there were better players than offering Duffy a new contract.

Calls for Hewitt to return to midfield I hear people voice out loud,. However, he must have one of the worst pass completion rates in L2. If we are serious about promotion, are there better midfielders available ( see Pell above!)

Brentford built their success on their own "moneyball" model. Even scouring Europe for "value for money" players that could give you a competitive advantage. Southampton also devoted a lot of resources behind the scenes watching lower European league videos, looking for "gems" at a low price.

Fitzsimons, has come under a lot of criticism but he was blameless against Yeovil, and it can be argued his saves, could have prevented a 0-8 loss

Well the loan window needs to be used to get that key central midfield bully.

It's early days too, but the strikers don't look like "natural goal scorers". You look at some strikers and can recognise a goal scoring instinct and coolness in front of goal. I just don't see that with Dennis and Hemmings at the moment.

  3. I have been annoyed, disappointed and angered already this season.

After time to think about what has happened, I do calm down and I see that Notts have improved other the last few games since the opening day draw against Colchester United. I would be more concerned right now if Notts gave into the minority who want Kevin Nolan out.

There will be pressure on the club, players and manager, it's for them to balance this out.

I just feel right now that sacking Nolan would lead to further unrest and he has yet to be given fair time to sort his squad out, some managers you know won't accept anything less than what they want in the long run. I have faith in Nolan to sort it all out. How concerned are you about the slow start?

  4. I’ve read @Chris‘s article about the match yesterday and he hints at a bad atmosphere in the kop, I’ve also heard other fans mention the vitriol and nastiness expressed by some fans mainly in the kop.

This is one reason why I stopped going in the kop especially when things are going wrong for Notts, the atmosphere is great when we are winning but the knives come out if we are playing badly and losing.

Ok the Pavis is full of shall we say more mature (age wise) people and I feel that the older fan like myself have gone through lots of bad seasons and still supported through the lean years as well as the glory years.

In the Pavis last year I saw more encouragement at the end of the match not a lot of booing just disappointment more than anything else, the fans there seem to be more forgiving.

The above is just my opinion I know not all kop fans are the same and I have no wish to upset any of them.

  5. I know the test match is tomorrow so I’m hoping there won’t be any problems parkingon the embankment tonight.

    Anyone know of any restrictions?

  6. These are the words of Charlie McParland, he says when Notts get their first win they will take off.

    Do you agree?

  7. Steve Chettle as joined Notts on a full time basis as coach.

Is this a good move do you think?

    Anyone a fan?

I see nothing with how he speaks, what he says or how he appears.

Fans are jumping the gun and once one says differently, it just takes a few to agree before it's all over the place.

  10. Good morning PoN, it’s a grey start here and quite breezy but dry.

We are back in our bed after I have persuaded Mrs. BigTone that the enormous spider she saw Friday has packed his bags and gone, hopefully to never return.

Today we are getting excited because we are getting packed ready for a holiday with our eldest grandchildren, we don’t see them regularly since our son died in 2012 so this is a real bonus for us, tomorrow we are going to the coast, we’ve hired a static van for 5 days Mon-Fri, looking forward to lots of fun.

So what is everyone else up to, family time? Big fat Sunday roast? Day in the country? Or just chillaxing? Let us know what’s happening in your life today.

Even if the penalty had gone it wouldn't have made much difference, Hemmings had the right idea but put too much power on it.

notts lack the fight needed to win games at the moment.

i think there is enough creativity and power up front but the defence looks absolutely ****. there is no other word for it.

      Yeah the defence.

The game was winnable that's the annoying thing for me but the awful defending cost the club from doing that.

I am frustrated by the way Notts gave the game away, 4 goals is a sorry state of affairs. I hope for better against Newport County.

  18. Just watching Notts TV Team Talk programme and Neal Bishop is a guest talking about how he came to join Mansfield, Charlie McParland asked him if he would’ve come back to Notts, he hesitated before answering “without wishing to upset anybody, no I wouldn’t want to go back” he went on to explain he had a great time at Notts and it was good to leave with happy memories if he’d come back things may not have been the same.

I can sort of understand that, what do others think.

  19. What are your experiences of tipping. Do you tip for services received, if so who do you tip? Have you ever had a job where you received a tip?

I generally leave a tip if I’ve been to a restaurant with waiter service but not if it’s a place where you order at the bar and give a table number.

On the cruises we have been on tips are charged to your bill to save you the bother but at £7 per passenger per day it works out a fair bit of money depending how long the cruise is. If you prefer you can have the tips taken off your bill and tip personally.

    Any thoughts on tipping?

  20. Earlier this week , (after the televised Rams v Leeds game)I was conversing on Messenger with one of my old Rams fan mates. We were discussing were we went wrong and part of his reply  made me laugh. He said"Our players have it away too often"I know many a true word is spoken in jest but hey players do have a life away from football. What he meant to type was-"We Gave (the ball) it away too often"

Do any members have any similar  amusing typos ?

  21. Fitzsimons 4 Lack of a defence exposes Fitz, but made some good saves

Bird 4 A nervous opening 15 minutes but grew into the game

Duffy 5 a typical Duffy performance

Hewitt 3.5 Losing count at the number of failed passes.

Kellett 6 Neat but will he be up for the physical battles of L2

Crawford 5 took goal well but needed to gt into the game more

Jones 4 Inaccurate pass allowed Boro to break to score their 3rd

Hawkridge 3.5 Anonymous and that's being kind

Husin 6.5 MotM always uses the ball well, never a misplaced pass...a focal point of what a side should be built around

Alessandra 4 Boro easily pick pocketed the ball off him too many times. Coolly taken penalty

Stead 6 Back on the scoring trail after the horrific miss at Cambridge. Thought penalty was well signalled and keeper saved comfortably

Would be interesting if he would take Hewitt's place. After the performance at the Riverside it looks as if Hewitt maybe dropped for either Crawford or Husin.

    3. TheSkipper

      TheSkipper

If the formation changes it will be between him and Husin to fill the gap in midfield. He sounds like a sensible player, his heads clearly switched on.

He sounds like a great asset and lad for the club, well done to him for scoring on his debut.

That's a sign of class as far as I am concerned.
