Whos's your Man of the Match for our first game of the season?

I was reading elsewhere that a father and daughter who are Notts fans were hit by a car outside the ground. Paramedics and police were quickly on the scene the daughter was thrown in the air and has head injuries the father has injured an arm. They are in separate hospitals the father is having an operation at Stevenage hospital, the daughter has been transferred to Luton where she is receiving treatment for head injuries.

I hope they both make a swift and full recovery.

As the title suggests does anyone proof read anything at Notts before it is published?

According to the programme we have an Adam Smith and the report on the friendly on the official site has been rushed which has led to mistakes.

It surprises me as our media dept has been very good in recent times

Hello and a warm PoN welcome @pglittlewood.I hope you soon settle in and enjoy your time with us,

The Notts Youth team completed its pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 2-3 defeat at Port Vale when only a late penalty stopped the young 'Pies from claiming something from the game.

Of the five games played, all away from home, they managed only one victory a 5-3 win against Central College at Basford United plus a 0-0 draw with Northampton Town and defeats at both Watford and Coventry City.

Having said that they have played some good football and with eight players progressing from last years' team to become this years' second year scholars - the team looks to have a sound basis for the coming season.

As always the youngsters are well drilled, get the ball down early and always try to play good football and have a trialist up front, scorer of both goals against Port Vale, who looks a real handful and I am looking forward to seeing more of this season.

@RayTrew has confirmed that we've had an offer of £100,000 turned down for Crawley's Izale McLeod.

I am seeing messages that suggest the shirts have sold out, can it get any worse for Notts? Not only has the kit been slow to be released but they did not order enough!!

What does this mean for the open day? If there is no kits available it will be a PR failure.

Talk about throwing a way a chance to make some easy money.

Hello @paulnathan666 welcome the site and community.

So it begins.....

Β

Stevenage finished in the playoff positions last year but lost in the semi final to Southend. They lost 5 times at home in the league. League 2 wasn't very strong last year so I wouldn't read too much into Stevenage making the playoffs. They finished 22 points behind league champions Burton.

Β

Teddy Sheringham has taken over as manager and they have lost some key players. They also have a few injury concerns going into Saturday's game. It's hard to see where the goals are going to come from for them. Their pre season form is so so.

Β

Notts should be capable of winning this one. Even a draw would be a good start. I'm going for 2-1 to Notts. Swerts and Stead with the goals.

Just a Rough estimate after the First Pre-season game.

Β

I'm going to have to go all out and say Champions, Auto's as a Concilation ha ha ha

Well then guys n gals... It's the morning after the night before! I am sure we were all buzzing and celebrating a great start to the season... apart from nursing headaches, what are we doing today

Β

for me gardening, trip to see jim, and blog

Okay folks, PON member @paulnathan666 is the fan behind the FB ground 'Notts County Legends'.

I thought it would be nice to promote this useful and interesting group, especially since we ourselves have features which related to this niche. It's actually a very good idea, I was planning to start one after seeing @sadlad do one for Walsall but thankfully, with all my PON duties I'd never have time and Paul does a great job.

Go give the group a like folks - Here

"The start of the new season brings a tweak to football's offside rule - one that could result in quite a few goals being disallowed.

If a player has a shot at goal and a team-mate in an offside position makes a play for the ball - even if they don't touch it - the goal will now be disallowed.

The new guidelines passed down to officials at all levels state: 'A player in an offside position shall be penalised if he: 'Makes an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball.'

It means players who stand in an offside position and move towards a shot or pass and make a move as though they intend to touch the ball will be penalised.

One high-profile example came in February this year when Juan Mata's free-kick curled straight in during Manchester United's match with Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Marcos Rojo, in an offside position inside the box, attempted to head the cross but missed. Nobody else made contact and Mata's ball went straight in, the goal standing.

Under the rule change, the goal would not be allowed.

Officials believe the new rule will simplify the situation and dissuade players from lingering around in an offside position knowing they would not be considered to be actively involved in play."

Seems like there complicating things further.

Good morning, it's a lovely day here, I think it looks perfect for having breakfast in the garden.

A relaxing day is in prospect, no children to look after so we may go for a bike ride or a walk, it's time we got some exercise.

Had a good fishing trip yesterday I didn't catch anything but it was very peaceful sitting watching the wildlife.

Have a great day everyone, thanks for joining in the daily thread it's lovely to read a snapshot of people's lives.

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."

Β

The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet..

"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or
something."

Β

The vet rolled his eyes, turnedaround and left the room. He returned a few minutes laterΒ  with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his
front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

Β

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.

Β

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

Β

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

Β

The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!"

Β

The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."
