  1. Ok stop guessing I'll tell you, we've been to Derby to order a couple of folding bikes. :clapping:

They were going cheap in the sale so we took the plunge, they aren't the most expensive make I believe you can pay over a £1000 for Bromptons, these were £150 quid each but made of aluminium so quite lightweight. 20" wheels, six gears etc., they fold up quite nicely to fit in the boot of the car or in our case in our motorhome. Can wait to try them out, hopefully they will get us fit.

    Anybody else got a bike?

  2. Given the just and correct public outcry with regards to Ched Evans and his crime what would be your reaction to a parent of a professional footballer who had committed the very same crime of Rape against a minor attending football games?

  4. Apparently there was a earth quake last night in Rutland but it was felt in some parts of Nottinghamshire.

We didn't feel a thing, in fact Mrs H says the earth hasn't moved for her in a long time

    Anyone on here feel it?

  5. Luis Figo: Portuguese great makes bid for Fifa presidency

<!--url{0}--> Portuguese great Luis Figo has become the latest shock candidate for the role of Fifa president.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan forward, 42, wants to replace Sepp Blatter as boss of world football's governing body.

Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) president Michael van Praag also said on Wednesday he will be a candidate.

Blatter, 78, has been Fifa boss since 1998 and said in June 2014 that he intended to run for a fifth term.

Retired France international player David Ginola and fellow Frenchman Jerome Champagne, a former Fifa executive and ex-diplomat, have already announced their intention to stand against him, along with Prince Ali of Jordan who is backed by the Football Association.

Van Praag, meanwhile, is backed by the Scottish Football Association.

Figo is standing after Blatter was criticised for Fifa's handling of Michael Garcia's report into alleged corruption during the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

"Football has given me so much during my life and I want to give something back to the game," the ex-Portugal international, who won 127 caps, said in a CNN interview.

"I look at the reputation of Fifa right now and I don't like it. Football deserves better. In recent weeks, months, and even years, I have seen the image of Fifa deteriorate.

"As I speak to many people in football - to players, managers and association presidents - so many of those people have told me that something has to be done."

Figo won the Ballon d'Or in 2000 and was Fifa world player of the year in 2001.

In 2000, he made a controversial move from Barcelona to bitter La Liga rivals Real Madrid for a then world record fee of £37m, and won the Champions League with Real in 2002.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has offered his support to his fellow countryman's presidency bid.

He said: "Luis Figo's candidacy is a great step forward for football. His career over many years grants a better future for Fifa.

"I believe in his character and determination, as well as his passion for the game. He will be a president focused on football and its general improvement, acting closely with all federations."

KNVB chief Van Praag says he wants to clean up Fifa's sullied image and expand the World Cup if he succeeds Blatter as president.

The Dutchman, 67, said that under Blatter's stewdardship, Fifa "is doing badly and has lost all credibility".

He added: "Fifa is constantly under suspicion. Of conflicts of interest, of nepotism, of corruption."

Van Praag said he submitted his candidacy to Fifa this week with backing from the necessary five federations - Belgium, Sweden, Scotland, Romania and the Faroe Islands - as well as the Netherlands.

Scottish Football Association president Campbell Ogilvie said: "We believe Michael has the experience, integrity and gravitas required to expedite the modernisation of world football's governing body.

"Having known him for more than 20 years, I believe he is the right candidate at the right time to restore harmony to the game."

Harold Mayne-Nicholls, the former head of Fifa's technical committee had been expected to announce his candidacy but the Chilean said on Wednesday that he will now not add his name to the ballot because he would not expect to beat Figo.

All potential candidates have to register their interest in standing before Thursday's deadline.

According to Fifa electoral committee member Dominico Scala, all confirmed challengers must pass an anti-corruption test.

I'd prefer Ginola because I know how passionate he is about football, he would also do well to make sure France wasn't favoured and although I think Figo would do just as well, I would prefer someone who's been behind the scenes of football a bit more.

That said anyone's better than the current shameless guy.

    Thoughts?
  6. Well this sort of ran over what I expected, I should have probably cut it off at 3-4 fans views but that said I enjoyed hearing all of the opinions which was kindly told to me. I asked two former players! I didn't realize, I had seen one around Meadow Lane a fair bit but he's before my time. I even felt one looked like our @tonyhateley

I knew instantly upon them introducing themselves though. Please watch :)

  8. 'No Bajner, No Party!' - Notts County lift Facebook ban on Hungary

    9386373-large.jpg

Notts County have lifted a ban that prevented the whole of Hungary from using their Facebook page after a deluge of comments relating to a new signing.

The club took the “drastic” decision after it was flooded by fans from the Eastern European country posting about Hungarian striker Balint Bajner, 24, after he signed from Ipswich Town on Tuesday, January 20.

They said they had to find a way of allowing other supporters to access information as they responded to each online post with comments including “No Bajner, No Party!”

But head of media Jamie Dixon said Hungarian fans were given access again on Monday and he hopes to develop a positive relationship.

I think it is more exciting with 2 of the big boys eliminated. Some tasty ties to look forward to. Bradford will fancy their chances against either Sunderland or Fulham. Man Utd won't fancy a trip to PNE or Sheffield Utd. No doubt LVG will complain about the pitch and the weather again! Derby have a great chance of going through.

What will be on the telly? Definitely the Man Utd game. Bet that will be on Friday on BBC.

  10. I have found a few who see it my way, but most seem to think he was hot headed yesterday.

Let me explain my belief of what I saw.

The team struggled to get into the first 20 minutes.

All the clapping in the world on the pitch wasn't lifting the players, nor was "come on lads".

I give Smith the benefit of the doubt in the fact that he MAY have decided the team a firecracker up its %$£" so he decided to start putting the boot in and get a few players riled up on both sides. I'm not saying his challenges were fair and didn't deserve his booking, but maybe, just maybe it was an old head reading the game and trying to fire up the team? Meaning he didn't need subbing at half time and let Jones take over? Who I normally rate, but yesterday was a passenger.

Obviously SD saw it the same as most and I am happy to accept he was just being bloody minded and stupid, but I think there may have been a calculated decision by an old pro.

  11. As part of the youth loanee terms Santos and Thomas were allowed to play for The Rams U21 team today.

I'm also delighted to see George Thorne making another step in is recovery.

  12. OK, who's going to own up to having a phobia.

I've got a phobia of needles, I was given three anti tetanus injections in my thighs after a dog bit me when I was a young lad and the nurse wasn't the least bit kind or gentle hence ever since I have had a phobia of needles. I can't even watch someone else having an injection. I hadn't had to have an injection since then until about 8 years ago when I needed blood tests and I was absolutely petrified, I told the nurse and she opened all the windows in case I fainted and laid me on a couch before taking the blood, all the time she was talking to me to keep my mind occupied. She was lovely, unlike the one in 1959.

My other phobia is heights, I can't stand being high up especially if there is nothing to stop me falling. I hate ladders, cliff tops etc., I'm not sure where that came from.

So what phobia can you own up to?

  13. After Curtis Thompson's man of the match performance against Peterborough yesterday, does Derry now have a difficult decision for the centre of the park?

Before Curtis' performance I would have said Noble and Jones in the middle were our best choices, with Smith at least decent cover for them.

Has Curtis done enough to get in the starting XI as a CM? Who would he replace?

It's good in the long run though, as while Gary shows no sign of aging at the moment, it must catch up with him at some point, surely?

  14. You see it in football, I really don't like it. Children of famous footballers living off their fathers talent, you see it in many walks of life but I really don't know much about from Sean Lennon (apart from about 6 years ago) - it was rumoured all the children of the famous beatles would form a 'super band', if you can call it that.

I've just been listening to a youtube play list and three of his songs came on.

All not very good and sung in a blatant 'John' kind of way, yet it's the fact he even tries to dress, look and act like his dad. I don't mean to sound nasty but I think it's horrible, why not be himself? No wonder he hasn't appeared to do much.

    Judge yourself

  15. Why is it that you follow football?  Not necessarily what got you started following it, but more why you continue to follow it

Is it the match-day/Saturday experience, is it watching the battle of athletes in the arena of football or is it just a case of having a team to root for?

  16. >http://youtu.be/qNe77xagdbU

I didn't think I would do this, as I had no questions and I only had 30 minutes to find someone. So I think it's safe to say I wasn't really prepared, however luckily this chap and a group of 3/4 others passed and I asked. His friends nominated him to take part and it worked out very well.

Really enjoyed listening to his views, if only more fans could be like him! Relegation? Laugh it off. :P

  17. Not that I watch the thing, but Mrs PTID reading the news on her kindle says that the producers are to stick in the house the woman who went and "slept" with Katie Price's (Jordan)husband.

    Standby for fireworks...

    Mark Pougatch

Pougatch will host ITV's next live football match, the Champions' League clash between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain on February 17.

He is understood to be continuing to work for rival BBC Radio 5 Live despite his new appointment.

Earlier this month, it emerged that pundit Andy Townsend and presenter Matt Smith would be leaving their roles at the broadcaster.

ITV has lost the rights to Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League games to other channels.

Live FA Cup rights are currently shared between the BBC and BT Sport, while BT Sport has bought the rights to live Champions League and Europa League games for three years from the 2015/16 season.

It emerged last year that ITV was considering placing a significant bid for Premier League highlights rights for the 2016-19.

  19. Ok, so the crowd today wasn't our largest, not by long chalk, given the opposition who are normally quite well followed when they visit the lane, I had expected over 6000. Not much I grant you, but certainly a few more than there were.

Without looking how many would you expect at an FA CUP tie involving a Championship side at home to a Premier League side? 10,000..... 15,000..... 20,000 even?

Ok so it is January, and even given the slight economic upturn, times are still difficult, Christmas has just gone, there are plenty of credit card bills due paying.... perhaps a low crowd could be somewhat understandable.

Given that our results have stuttered a little, been hit and miss, the football hasn't been knockout, yes I can fully understand on a cold afternoon perhaps with some nagging from other halves and bills due, why there have been people do other things. Disappointing though it is....

Consider then that Notts County v Peterborough, drew more of a crowd than Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City.

Now that shocked me, is it that we expect too many to attend?

  20. Looking at a round up of todays games

    Blackburn 3 - Swansea 1

    Playing live:

    Liverpool 0 - Bolton 0

    Details:

Goals from Gary Cahill and Ramires gave a much-changed Blues side a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge before ex-Sunderland striker Jon Stead pulled one back just before half time.

Former Chelsea player Filipe Morais, who played in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge of Chelsea, a pre-season clash with Oxford United, in 2004, then drew the Bantams level with 15 minutes remaining.

Mourinho responded by bringing Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Willian on but it was Bradford who went ahead through Andy Halliday’s brilliant solo goal.

Phil Parkinson’s side survived a barrage of late pressure from the hosts and then hit the Blues with a sucker punch as Mark Yeates struck in injury time to seal a sensational victory.

And there was a shock exit for title rivals Manchester City too as they were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough at the Etihad Stadium

Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford, on loan at the Riverside, was the hero for Aitor Karanka’s men as he managed to bundle home following a mix up from Willy Caballero, in for Joe Hart, and Fernando.

Despite having the firepower of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Frank Lampard on the pitch they could not find the goal they needed.

And to add to Manuel Pellegrini’s misery, **** wrapped up the triumph, finishing off a move involving Albert Adomah and Bamford

There was a thriller at St Mary’s as Crystal Palace beat Southampton 3-2 to progress to the next round.

Marouane Chamakh hit a brace for the Eagles, with on loan Yaya Sanogo grabbing a third for Alan Pardew’s, meaning Graziano Pelle’s strike and a Scott Dann own goal were in vain for the hosts.

Leicester City came from behind to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Andros Townsend had handed Spurs the lead with a first half penalty but a Leonardo Ulloa and Jeffrey Schlupp scored in the final eight minutes of the match to ****** victory for Nigel Pearson’s Foxes.

Victor Anichebe starred as West Brom edged a closely fought Midlands derby to progress with a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City at St Andrews.

Anichebe linked up impressively with England striker Saido Berahino for both of his first-half strikes, although Jonathan Grounds halved the deficit for the hosts on half time.

Hal Robson-Kanu scored a late winner as Reading came from a goal down to beat Cardiff City 2-1 in an all-Championship encounter at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Kenwyne Jones’ header had given Russell Slade’s side an early lead before Oliver Norwood’s free kick drew the visitors level just after the hour mark.

Robson-Kanu then found the top right corner with a superb solo goal in the 88th minute to send Reading through to the fifth round.

Darren Bent grabbed his first Derby County goal as Steve McClaren’s Championship high-flyers booked their place in the next round with a 2-0 win over League One side Chesterfield.

Bent, on loan from Aston Villa, headed home from close range half way through the first half and starlet Will Hughes made sure of the win with a late left-footed strike.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United youngster Diego De Girolamo earned the Blades a replay against League One rivals Preston North End to a 1-1 draw, while Fulham held Sunderland, who had Jack Rodwell sent off, to a 0-0 stalemate.

Paul Gallagher had opened the scoring with a brilliant 30-yard free-kick but, with 22 minutes remaining, the Italian youth international fired home the equaliser.

Well some great upsets in there, all the top teams out in one round.....
