Hi Folks,

Β

It's September 1st so I begin thinking about football again, even though the cricket season isn't over yet.

Β

What a summer, the Ashes won. @Blackville and I were lucky enough to see all the play at Trent Bridge, the first time I've been there when we actually won back the Ashes - and we were sitting next to all the Aussies!!

Β

@Blackville gpot Stuart Broad's autograph all over the scorecard of the first Australian innings when SB took 8-15 and they were boewled out before lunch. A memory that will stay with me forever, especially as my Aussie mate was sitting next to me!!

Β

Now for some rich entertainment in the winter months...

Rumoured to be coming back.Β

Would you have him?

For me he's a very good player and his set pieces are good. However, looking at our squad, do we really need another left back? I know he did a job for us filling in at CB, but really he's a LB.Β

Pinch punch first of the month. Apparently meteorlogically speaking it is now Autumn, how depressing!

Today it's back to normal for us as our grandsons will be here soon after their two week holiday, so we will have to occupy them somehow until mum gets home from work tonight.

Have a good day everyone.

Day off. Going to visit my Mum in the nursing home. She's 80 in October. I'll be happy if I make 80!

Saturday's fixtures:

Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion

Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesbrough

Bury v Oldham Athletic

Swindon Town v Sheffield United

Hartlepool United v Carlisle United

Luton Town v Portsmouth

After the first few games it appears to me that we have a side capable of performing at a higher level in the top half of league one and possibly the championship but is that what is needed to get us out of league two.

Are we too good for this division, do we need players that can handle the Mansfields and Accringtons or am I talking rubbish what do people think?

Since I am not watching Notts, much of what I read describes Noble as very hot tempered. Much praise has gone into his work rate and attitude so far this season but has he really learned?

I hope this is one of few suspensions for him this.

Also does anyone feel his sending off lead to us conceding?

I am not trying to blame him but I would like to understand, at this stage it's unclear to me and I felt it was worthy of being discussed.

Back to the bread and butter stuff after last night's trip to Villa. Morecambe are one of the clubs tipped to struggle by the bookies.

They have an identical record to us. 1 win, 1 draw, 2 defeats. They managed a 3-3 draw at Portsmouth last weekend, a game they should have won really, they lead 3-0 after 38 minutes but allowed a last minute equalizer to 10 man Pompey. Before that they had only managed to score once in their 3 league games. One goal proving enough to beat Accrington at home.Β

I expect this to be a tight game. Morecambe aren't blessed with prolific goalscorers but we don't exactly have a tight defence. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. 1-1 draw for me. McLeod.Β

As the article says, a warning for comments made about referee..

Β
The more interesting bit for me is at the bottom.... this:

The former Tottenham skills-coach also criticised several County players for choosing to stay put despite them being deemed surplus to requirements at the club.

The Magpies have signed 19 players so far this summer with the transfer window due to shut on Tuesday.

"Last year I told them they were good players, but I have no place for them, so they can be influential at a lower level," he said.

"But sometimes they only want to sit and take the benefit of the salary. We have too many players who I can't use.

"If they are not influential in a specific strength they will not play at Notts County."

Β

Β

Who exactly are we on about here? Are we talking about McKenzie? is that why he isn't playing? Who else?

How about this to scare your neighbours half to death.

Morning all, I hope we aren't too down this morning, I know that yesterday's result spoilt my day, I felt really down in the dumps.

A cloudy day here but not the rain that had been forecast, that's coming tomorrow apparently.

We are nipping to ToysRus later to get a present for our Grandsons birthday, we've got some bits and bobs but need a main present.

Might do a bit of fishing today too I've got some maggots that need using before they turn to flies.

What's on your agenda today.

If anyone hasn't heard, yesterday Jack gave his boots a way to a young Notts fan. He also saluted coaching staff and the Notts fans for making their way down, it's good to see.

For a young player to pay so much respect to a lower tier club, it's pretty unusual.

Well done Jack!

The early sun here in Cumbria has been chased away by the incoming clouds... unsure how the day is going to pan out... but it is match day and I am going. Yippee

The last time we played Morecambe, Sol Campbell had made his first and only appearance for the club.

Can you name one player, staff or personal connected?

I'll start with Nicky Fenton.

What did you make of his début?

He did very well with Jon Stead, its early but both can shoot and they are totally different players, which means they'll keep defenders busy with good service. It was good to see two strikers keen to attack and have cracks at goal.

What did you think???

Off work today. Woke up early anyway. Cats fed. Back to bed. Have to do some outside cleaning today.
