What a game young Jack Grealish had for Villa against Liverpool today. How I wish we had him in the squad now.

So, picking up my old style of these threads, memories of plastic pitches aside - what does Luton Town remind us of.Β  For me, ID cards, David Pleat hop-skipping-jumping with Brian Horton, exective boxes that looked like a bus shelter, and - obscurely - Rob "hot prospect from Loughborough university studying Geography" Matthews netting a brace against them towards the end of 91-92.Β  This was part of our easter revival where we beat Coventry and Norwich in a mini-run, but ultimately was fruitless and simply helped drag Luton down with us to the "new" Division One.

Β

So, onto the players.Β  It look a bit of thought this week, but there must be quite a few players that have played for both clubs?Β  Luton are a lot older than i'd realised so some players must have been shared over the years?

Β

At the moment I can only offer gk Kevin Pilkington!

Hi @laura4jamie27 :waving:

Β

Welcome to PoN, you will find we are a very friendly crowd, why not pop on here and say hello, we don't bite..........well most of us don't anyway

Good morning all, this may be my last offering for a while as we are off on our jollies again.

We are firstly off down to Norfolk to meet up with around 50 odd people in 35 Motorhomes for a get together then on Sunday me and Mrs H are heading to the Isle of Wight for a week or so to soak up some sun (we hope).

So if you are going to the Lane on Saturday give them a cheer for me .YOUPIES !!

Morning all, a bit grey and overcast here today and there is certainly an autumnal nip in the air.

Β

The kids have gone to school and nursery, quite frankly we were glad to see George go because since he came back from his holidays he seems to be really naughty, I think he needs a bit of Grandad and Granny rules being reimposed, hopefully when he gets back into a routine he will settle back down into the nice little lad he can be when the mood takes him.

Β

Not much going on today, we have to do a big shop at Aldi and then get a few things from Asda that they don't sell at Aldi, might start sorting out the van ready for our holiday which starts at the weekend, you can't get enough holidays in my opinion, no wonder that dwarf chap calls me Judith (Chalmers).

Morning all, a little late this morning, we've been busy our grandsons came early at 7.30 so needed breakfast and taking to school and nursery. Thankfully the day is our now until 3pm, I've got some housework to do whilst Mrs. H. is computer bound earning us some money hopefully.

Β

It's another nice day and the forecast is good so I might also get out in the garden to do some much needed weeding, apart from that we haven't got much else on.

Β

How is your day panning out, have you got anything special planned?

The Rolling Stones released "Satisfaction" I heard it being played by my next door neighbour I lived in the meadows at the time, I was instantly hooked and have been ever since.

What memories do you have of your favourite group? When did you first hear their record?

With eleven new first year scholars added to the squad, the young 'Pies got off to a slow start to the season with decent performances without the necessary cutting edgeΒ with defeats at Doncaster (0-1) and Burton (0-2).

Β

Last week in the first round of the League Cup they went through with a penalty from Jack McMillan and now face Oldham at home in round two.

Β

Today's game saw Notts face Grimsby at Arnold Town's ground - with both teams looking for their first points of the season.Β  Notts were 'out of their blocks' the quicker of the two teamsΒ taking control of the game right from the off with some neat passing football.Β  The first goal came after only ten minutes when Notts' striker Montel Gibson was put through 'one-on-one' with the keeper before scoring.Β  Ten minutes later Notts improved their lead when a loose ball in the area was hammered home by Yohan Rutty-Smith.Β  On 33 minutes Jack McMillan put Notts 3-0 ahead with a fine right foot shot from about ten yards and that remained the score at half-time.

Β

It was a very different story in the second half though with the visitors changing their formation and putting five players in midfield which put NottsΒ under more pressure than they had been in the first half.Β  After a couple of errors in the Notts defence,Β they wereΒ forced to hang on for the last ten minutes to finally secure their first league win of the season 3-2.Β  Overall a good performance with almost half the team made up of first year scholars and one player from the under-16 team.

Just wondering what all your thoughts are on the match against Crawley having to be rearranged. Do we find it good or bad and why?

Morning all, I've got a bit of a thick head today (nothing new I hear you say) we went to our sons last night and Mrs H volunteered to drive so I let my hair down a bit as far as alcohol is concerned.

We had Tapas and Sangria, our lad is a pretty good cook and he didn't let us down it was lovely.

It's a lovely morning here and the forecast is good, so we might get out for a bike ride but first I've got to try and mend a puncture on Mrs H's bike.

Have a good day all.

Our best ever position was 3rd. We achieved that twice. Once in the 19th century and again in 1900 (I think).

What was our worst? 89th twice in the 2000s. Our recent bad run makes me wonder if we'll break the worst record this season. Surely not? Surely.....

let us start with news that Cheltenham Towns Whaddon Road ground is to be renamed "The World of Smile Stadium" for the next three years...

Β

jeepers, they have to be kidding right...

Β

off we go then, add to the list folks

We got Sheffield Utd away. That is the worst draw we could have got. Even their 2nd string is decent enough.

Morning all, no football today so what are you up to?

We haven't got much planned apart from tonight we will be going to our sons for tea, he wants to try his cooking skills on us. He's recently come back from holiday in France so it will be good to catch up with them.

He's promised us tapas but I thought they were a Spanish dish, oh well should be interesting, if you don't hear from me for a few days I've got gastro enteritis.

Good morning all, it seems very slow on here lately, are we all on holiday. Come on folks lets hear from you what are you up to today?

Β

It's quite a bright morning here, we've just had our breakfast in the garden so its not too cold out there.

Β

We have a wedding to go to today, the son of an old friend who I have known since he was a little boy and used to play with my two sons. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of old friends.

Β

Hope you all have a good day.

Has now apparently left Ilkeston Town after a very short stay and signed for Worcester City, higher in the leagues I believe and probably nearer to where he lives.

Euro qualifying continues today. Wales are on the verge of qualifying. They are away to Cyprus tonight. Here's hoping they win. They haven't qualified for a major tournament since 1958.Β

I know Mansfield made big changes last night but a win is a win isn't it?

I'm feeling happier, the defence seemed to cope pretty well apart from the late penalty it could have been a clean sheet, the midfield are creating chances galore and last night two strikers scored, so all in all it seems things are being to click.

What do others think?

Did anyone else get the email from Notts about a hospitality package, it was quickly recalled and followed by an apology because every bench members email address was showing.

I had to scroll through hundreds of email addresses to see the message. The club apologised on behalf of the board of directors and said it was an individual member of staff and retraining of all staff would be arranged.

Whoops, so much for data protection.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions for the site? Once I return from off my Holiday, I plan to implement some changes. Nothing major currently, for example I won't be reducing the forums because there's ways around visiting each - which are good solutions.

*Alternative skin (to be added - lo-fi version)

*Promoting features, how to remove sigs, make use of the settings etc.

Anything else?

Will Notts be up for this? can we get revenge? I am curious as to what will happen if we lose again, I know its early days and we need time but confidence will be at an all time low if we get beaten by our closest rivals again so soon.
