  1. I've found my lucky loom band! Next door neighbours grand daughter made it for me and I wore it during our good run of results then lost it.

It's now back on my wrist, let the good times roll, COYP!!

  2. It's a interesting game, how will we respond to the defeat against Rochdale? We never really get anything from these games and Garry Birtles is hoping that Notts can keep a sense of prospective. Yeah, it's like we all suddenly think we are good enough to outclass and out score one of the most dangerous sides in this division.

MK Dons are sort of in a bubble, yet I don't deny their class because I expected them to fade earlier on and the do their business well. I mean they lost a vital player and replaced him like it was nothing!

I don't see us passing through MK Dons, I sadly think we will opt to hoofing it because it stands more chance of being 'workable' direct but certainly not pretty to watch.

With regards to ourselves, I just hope we don't crumble. We need to prevent them scoring, if we can hold them until half time - If I was a player that would give me a lot of confidence but if we avoid going down by 2-0 goals, perhaps we can keep within the game. It's one I think we will lose and I hate writing off games before the balls even been kicked.

    Prediction 2-0 to them.

What do you think? Possible line-ups? Score predictions?

  3. Rumours at the beginning of the week had him down as working notice as his contract was too expensive. Come mid-week he seems to be staying. Straight after that Rodders leave for other opportunities.

One school of thought is that Irvine has been asked to take on more responsibility. Maybe even step into Rodders shoes. If you were him, would you do it?

Would you ask for money above what you were getting before even if the club may have been thinking that was too much?

Would you say yes and keep the pay as before and just be happy with the new job?

Do you think he'll make a good CEO f he does indeed step into that role?

  4. It was great to see Jimmy come on in yesterday's game and by all accounts he looked sharp.

Can he save our season? Are we pinning too much hope on him? Would you start Jimmy in the next game?

    What are your thoughts?

  5. I'm fairly new to Notts. This is only my second season following them (I initially started with a half-season ticket last season after I'd moved back to Nottm and thought they could do with the support!)

So my thoughts may not be as insightful as those with more football nous, but this being the internet, I thought I'd share them anyway. Several things occur:

    1) Why are we so insistent on playing long-ball football? Is it because we acknowledge we don't have the skill to pass our way into their box? If so, why haven't we got more height up front? Lita must be one very bored man. It became depressingly comical last night to watch the guy forced into jumping for header after header that he has no chance of winning. He needs ground service.

    2) Why oh why does Derry keep playing Hollis? OK, he dropped him for a game a few weeks back but seriously, academy product or not, he needs to rediscover his passion. He must be nearly deaf from the number of times he has compelled Roy Carroll to bark at him for not doing his job. Drop him, sell him - either's good for me.

    3) I would sooner see us go down with a tight-knit squad that played for one another and for the shirt, than scrap survival on the last day with a team full of loan players who will be gone the very next day and whose commitment is highly questionable.

    4) With 3 in mind, why do we continue to bring in all and sundry, only to not play them? It can't give a lot of confidence to our own players that we refuse to play them into experience and form, choosing instead to replace them with someone who'll be here for a few weeks.

    5) If it were up to me I would keep Jones, Curtis, Carroll, Mullins, Noble (conditional on him sorting his anger issues out), Muzzie and, at a push, Gary Thompson, and the rest for me can move on. This may be unfair to several players who simply haven't had enough match time for me to judge them, but this presumably speaks for itself.

    6) This is where I may show my lack of expertise, but why are we so obsessed with the wide game? Often I see us get near their box, only to swing it out wide, and then sometimes bring it back centrally and send it out to the other wing instead. Would it be so bad if we attempted to pass it into the box, someone making a run behind the defenders? It's almost like our cross-and-head-it-in is our one trick in the bag - which would be fine, if it happened with any regularity.

    7) Carroll, oh Carroll. He must be wondering what he did in a previous life to deserve his current team. He's far too good for us, and is being totally hung out to dry by the defense in front of him - particularly (and usually) Hollis.

At this rate, I have to say I won't be renewing my season ticket. I'm tired of the endless squad additions, the lack of passion, the calamitous goals. I can take losing (hey, I chose Notts over Forest, right?) but I just don't think the team are keeping to their part of the deal. Consequently, I may withdraw my part, too.

    OK, I'm done!

  6. Good morning everyone, I hope we are all well, yesterday was a particularly sad day for me, no not because Notts lost 4-1 but because it would have been my sons birthday, I still find it hard to believe he isn't here to share a pint and a laugh, three years ago he took his own life whilst going through divorce proceedings.

In contrast today is a happy day because my wife and I are celebrating our 40th Anniversary, we had a celebration meal on Friday with family so today is a quiet day with Mrs H and just chilling and relaxing.

Whatever you are up to have a great day.

  7. As the title says guess how many we are going to concede against franchise MK, just scores and we'll see on sat who is correct

  8. The Lady Pies showed the men how to do it today when they beat Tottenham 4-0 to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

  10. Well I am not holding much hopes to a win, I think it's going to be difficult as they're in form and will most likely be prepared for whatever we decide to throw at them. I mean, we could do well - as always it depends on who turns up and how each player performs. I think with Carroll in form (which I don't think he has been 100% recenlty - Though I don't blame him) things might sway towards our favour especially being at home.

Yet I do feel Chesterfield will want to prove themselves, especially to show there's 'life after Doyle' who was one of the most average players I have seen live.

Chesterfield fans said at the away game he had been performing quite iffy (polite words chosen) and I felt it was to sort of mock us but he didn't, he played quite averagely. Which for me highlights the type of squad they have, though I do expect them to burn out - it's a testament and shows their strengths that they're still doing very well.

If they run at us, gain confidence and we don't defend, I can see them scoring quite a few (at the most 3). I certainly hope not.

I'll take a draw but it would be fantastic to get the win, though I do think 1-1 will be the full time score.

What about you? What do you think of our opposition? Score Prediction?

  14. A happy St. Patricks Day to all our Irish members.

My wish for today is that Paddy McCourt scores a hat trick to celebrate. That will guarantee that not only Irish eyes will be smiling tonight.

  15. If you like your drama gripping and harrowing then give this a try out.

This is the original series in which Homeland in the US was taken from. This is Homeland (which is good on its own merits) as it should have been done. Bare, stripped and severe is the only way to describe it. The detailing is immense and with it being done in Israel, the impact is much more than the US.

Shown in the UK on Sky Arts, but is available around the web and on dvd.

Anyone else seen it? Probably rated as one of the most realistic dramas ever.

  16. After two defeats against Chesterfield 0-3 and 1-3,  Notts looked to bounce back this afternoon with a game against bottom-of-the-table Hartlepool.

A much changed Notts side dominated for the full 90 minutes but managed only a single goal, a strike from distance from Yohan Rutty-Smith from distance into the bottom corner in the first half.

Once again the youth team coaches had an eye on next season with the Notts starting eleven containing seven first team scholars, all being available to play next season.

A convincing 1-0 win, if there is such a thing, let's hope the first team can also grab the three points tonight.

  17. It may well be that it's been a long day and I have a headache, but as I went through these I did start laughing.

They get better as they go along.

If they don't amuse then put it down to my tired sense of humour!

  18. Well for me its got to be Roy Carrol i know when he came to the club i was negative but admit i was wrong.

I think he could provide the key to steady the ship and lead us to survial not the great escape.

With his voice command of the area (goal) i think thats the start a strong defence normally means the goals should come.

  19. Well at this moment in time I'm saying with a heavy heart it will the great escape 2

Well a few months ago I was thinking about wembley the play off the championship but now its all gone wrong.

But now the great escape for the second year running and i must say i don't think it the gaffers fault.

We are a club with no money and have to live off loaning player in and i think thats what the problem is.

The great escape last year was one of the most adrenalin scary thing in the world and going through it again

i think will test the supports loyalties.

Quick straw poll. With the crowd being so terrible it is obvious what the majority of fans think, but what is the PON feeling?

Are we too busy thanking for last year to spot the ineptitude of this season, especially the signings, amount and pack of positional coverage?

  23. Anyone remember him playing for Notts? What a phenomenal long throw he had, he got into the Guiness Book of Records in 1994 by recording the longest ever throw in first class football 41 metres, if we got a throw within distance of the goal he would hurl it into the area. I remember being gutted when we sold him to Birmingham along with another great player at the time Paul Devlin.

Anyone else got any memories of him.

  24. Enough of these politics threads, lets have a sensible thread.

Who likes banana sandwiches, I love them, am I odd? Do others eat banana sandwiches or is it just me?
