    See you around our community.

  2. On the official site now.

Notts County announce the appointment of existing board member, Aileen Trew as their new Chief Executive Officer.

Mrs Trew, who has worked closely with all departments in the football club as a Director for the past four years, takes up the new role with immediate effect.

Chairman, Ray Trew, stated: “Aileen has enormous passion for this football club, and as a dedicated member of the Board for the past four years I am confident that she will embrace the challenge in her new role as CEO.

Mrs Trew, who adds the role of CEO to her directorial duties at the club in the wake of Jim Rodwell’s departure last week stated “I’ve got to start by thanking Jim Rodwell for all that he did during his time at Notts County, I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside him and wish him well in his new venture.

“As we face new challenges now I want to assure all our supporters that we have a strong team of dedicated, hard-working and forward-thinking employees at all levels, all of whom have something to contribute to the vision of progression that we share.

“I must at this point clarify one issue that has arisen recently, which is the future of our Commercial Director, Damian Irvine. Despite rumours circulating, I can confirm that Damian will continue in post and both myself and the Chairman are looking forward to working more closely with him as we prepare to expand on commercial activities and re-launch The Bench, his revolutionary vision that was so rightly rewarded with the prestigious Best Club Marketing Campaign accolade at the Football Business Awards last year."

Mrs Trew went onto to add:“I know that I have plenty to work on in taking on this new role of CEO, but with the support of the team around me, and with Ray taking a much more hands-on approach to the club, I know that we can continue to build for the remainder of the season and beyond.

“So while there’s plenty to be done, on the pitch and off it, I want to assure our supporters that it is business as usual here at Meadow Lane and our focus remains on making Notts County the very best football club that it can be, a vision that I hope you can all share with us.â€

Not sure if this is a good move or not? Not positive that the owner and CEO are both from the same household, so to speak, but I'm no businessman. I'm kind of glad Rodwell has now gone, despite not knowing much about him/his job, there were a lot of negative rumours and there's no smoke without fire.

  3. Well it was a nice sunny morning for the eclipse, did anyone witness it? We did the pin hole camera trick to see it reflected on a piece of paper. It certainly went eerily darker and we managed to see the best bit before a bank of cloud obscured it.

Here's a picture my son took.

  4. A warm welcome to @kev1958, good to see you onboard, please tell us a bit about yourself, we'd love to hear from you.

  5. If the Meadow Club is open for the Ladies game today.

  6. As the title says, what have you learned from football?

I will sum it up by saying, since moving here, I now know what having cash is like. I see several sports here for the price of 1 Notts ticket. Morale of the story? I've learned it was expensive even in the 90's.

  7. Years ago Notts fans use to sing , we are Notts , we are Notts ,instead of the Nottingham Nottingham version . Is it time to resurrect it ?

  8. It's revision time for the Magpies, also to some degree a grudge type match which we have to win. A draw simply wouldn't be good enough here and we must battle like Trojan's and not just defend like them. If we can keep the ball on the ground, playing direct and focus on creating chances of a mixed variety I can see us winning.

Scunthorpe United is the ideal game for a fit Jimmy Spencer, however I still think we should buyed our time with him.

I'm hearing JCR will be fit for Saturday, with me spending the past two days feeling unwell - I haven't really paid this game as much attention but if it's true, we will benefit from his direct approach, provided he releases the ball at the right moment within time.

They're not a bad side, good front pair, some decent midfielders but towards the back is where they're most iffy for me.

Fingers crossed a steady performance will lead to a 2-0 home win, goals coming from Bajner and Hollis.

What are your thoughts on the game? Score predictions? Is this a must win game, i.e can we afford to draw it?

    Discuss folks.

  9. I have heard conflicting reports about the Commercial Director Damian Irvine some say his contract has been cancelled as he is on a lot of money and the club can't afford him others say that was the plan but after a meeting it has been decided to keep him and changes at the club are in the air.

Personally I think he has been good for the club "The Bench" initiative was his apparently and I think that has been very good. I suppose time will tell, what are your thoughts? Have you met Damian, is he worth the reputedly high wages?

This is all speculation of course and it will be interesting to see the outcome.

  10. Each season we have our minds set on what we hope for and realistically see happening, but there seems to be a massive difference in determining success.

How do you make this call?

I think to a level some fans are just thickle, as is the nature of the sport nowadays. No direct digs but the judgement of success seems to be based on winning games alone and not much else. Just my view, feel free to disagree.

  11. Two more on board apparently. Not sure who has signed them though. Hart, A.Trew or still in the pipeline from SD???

Premier League duo arrive at Meadow Lane on loan...

Notts County have completed a double loan signing with forward Graham Burke and defensive midfielder Jordan Williams arriving at Meadow Lane from Premier League sides Aston Villa and Liverpool respectively.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Burke, who joins on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season, has previously spent time away from Villa Park on loan at Shrewsbury Town last season.

Williams, who has also been capped at Under-21 international, for Wales, made his professional debut for Liverpool earlier this season, coming on as a second half substitute in the Capital One Cup match against Middlesbrough in September.

The 19-year-old joins Notts on a youth loan, also until the end of the season, with both players available to make their debuts in the Sky Bet League 1 game at home to Scunthorpe United this weekend.

  12. A German airline has crashed over the Alps and its feared that there will be no survivors. This happened just 12 hours after our son flew to Germany on the same airline, I thank God it wasn't him and he landed safely but some people have lost parents, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers etc., my heart goes out to them.

  13. We desperately need to win this, I thought the draw against Bradford would have kept the gap more favourable towards us but we are only four points from off the drop zone. It must be on the minds of the players, we didn't even get a shot on target against Bradford City in the first half but we did play okay until it came to the important stage.

Rochdale are ours for the taking and we must.

Please, please, please stick with two upfront and don't let one of them drift back.

For me I'd give Lita and Bajner the positions upfront. 2-0 win is my prediction, part hope and part madness. WE CAN DO IT THOUGH! WE MUST BELIEVE.

What about you? Score predictions folks?

  14. Does anyone know what the budget for the Ladies Team is? What are the wages etc. I'm curious to know how much it costs to run a team at the top level of the women's game. This is bound to have a knock on effect on the budget for the rest of the club as resources are finite.

  15. Given we will be getting a new manager soon, what would you recommend to them as to our best starting line-up. Obviously this'll have to be based on how they have done in matches (unless any of you get time to watch them train too!)

  16. Academy duo take caretaker control of first team matters on a temporary basis...

Notts County can confirm that Acting Academy Manager Paul Hart and Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall will take temporary charge of the first team whilst the club looks for a permanent successor to Shaun Derry.

It was announced on Monday that Manager Derry and his Assistant Manager Greg Abbott had parted company with Notts and the process is already underway to find their successor at Meadow Lane.

However, with a crucial Sky Bet League 1 game at home to Scunthorpe United this weekend and the need to maintain the day-to-day running of the first team squad, Hart and Halsall have been asked to take on the role of caretaker management team in the interim period.

The duo have a wealth of managerial and coaching experience, with Hart, a former Notts County player, having held the top job at the likes of Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Crystal Palace and Halsall one of the most respected youth coaches in the game.

It was felt that their experience would be key to helping guide the first team squad through this important interim period until a new permanent Manager can be found.

The club will be making no further comment on the managerial situation at Meadow Lane until the recruitment process has been completed and an appointment has been made.

  17. Show your faith or lack of it, do you think next season we will be playing league two football?

    Explain why.

  18. Said this earlier, but superstition rules here. I've Just read the article on him saying he wants another club.

Anybody got any ideas how we can get hold of him?

@notts-joe we need you to tweet him to try and get the ball rolling.

  19. I believe the loan window shuts on Thursday, do you think Notts should try and get a loan player in for the final run in?

If so what position? Personally I would try and bolster the defence.

  20. This is a great resource for fans to plot the history of their club, just click on the name of the club and follow it's history by scrolling to the right, you will need to be on a desktop computer otherwise there is too much scrolling. You can highlight two or more clubs to compare their histories and the ups and downs over the years. I made the mistake of comparing Notts to Florist, now I am depressed so I wouldn't recommend doing that.

    Give it a try.

  21. Well as much as i think it will be the great escape I'm predicting 20th place 49 points

  22. Well it's been decided amongst the team members who's to continue the torch, I'm pleased to say @Captain Sticky has been awarded the Member of the Month for February.

We're delighted with all the contributions made over the past month.

However it's the Captain who stands out, he's joined in like he's been for ages and I am very pleased with the new signing. Keep up the good posts mate, join in with the laughs and thanks!

    Special mentions to.....

2nd place, @AmericanPie - Another valuable new arrival to the community, we don't half like our exiles.

3rd place, which is also another exile and previous 'Member of the Month' @DangerousSausage! Well done bud, as always keep it up.

To all the members reading this, chip in with a few posts over the next month and it may be you next! Many thanks to everyone regardless of how involved you're as it all counts.

    You Pies!

  23. This match has just been postponed because Swindon Town have six players called up for international duty. I know I have probably bored you with the Swindon model but I think this shows what is possible with (luck and) good judgement.

Massimo Luongo, bought from Tottenham Hotspur after loan spell, and Yaser Kasim, signed on a free transfer having been released by then non league Luton Town, have been called up by Australia and Iraq respectively and must now be considered regulars.

Four of our current loan players have been called into the England Under 20 squad which must speak volumes for the experience they are gaining whilst playing in League 1.

I know this is in all probability an exceptional situation but it shows that you do not need to rely on a massive budget or too many older, experienced players. Trouble with the latter is the risk of giving a final pay day to well known footballers who are well past their best.
