  1. Whoop Whoop.

Been down to get my season ticket this morning. I did consider moving back to the kop, I miss the atmosphere a bit but I am not one for jumping up and down and singing myself so I think the DP stand suits me better so I stuck with my present seat.

Can't wait for the season to start. :happy banana::clapping::cheerleader:

  2. Who will be our highest goal scorer? Yet... Let's break this down to try and make it fun, as I asked on Facebook - Re Strikers.

    Highest Goal Scoring - Striker;
    Highest Goal Scoring - Midfielder;

    Highest Goal Scoring - Defender;

    ---------- I say --------------

Highest Goal Scoring - Striker; Haynes
Highest Goal Scoring - Midfielder; Campbell-Ryce
Highest Goal Scoring - Defender; Dumbuya

Come on everyone, let us know yours?

  3. I've been putting this off, mainly because I'd everyone to be around.

I didn't want to do it whilst Tony or Weymouth were on holiday. I also think it will be best to 'discuss' this between ourselves because the last time I did something like this we had to plan around many time zones and it was good fun. Yet here, we are quiet at times and so we need to see when people will be free and open to taking part.

Personally, I think the weekend would be a better time. (obviously a none match day - hopefully soon)

Also groups/teams rather than single, yet this would depend on the interest.

Thoughts? (Let us know below if your happy to take part)

  4. Good evening Beautiful people.

Nice to be  a part of some thing new.

  5. So who's going on Tuesday then? I'm looking forward to seeing my first live competitive match this season.

Will Chris make any changes as it is a cup match? Maybe bring a few of the youngsters in and fringe players, I remember a few years ago Steve Thompson was manager and he played an almost completely different team for the League Cup to the team for the league matches and we were quite successful that year, can't remember how far we got but did quite well.

  6. Last night, I was woken up when something heavy landed on my head. It was pretty heavy, and even when I'd opened my eyes I couldnt see anything (I usually can as my window is right near a street light). You know what your like when your startled awake, well I actually started panicking, I didnt know what to think. Then I came to my senses and realised something was lying on my face. Turned out a picture had fallen from my wall and landed on my face!

I now have a cut by the side of my eye and its got a bit of a bruise coming out of it too! Never happened before, certainly surprised me!

Funnily enough the picture in question is an old County team photo. I assume it was something my Dad had, as we just found it in amongst a load of stuff when we moved. Its signed by the entire team and managment on the back, and from the very few signatures I've managed to work out, I've made a guess that its from the early 1970s, but I dont know for sure.

Anyway, I hope my miss-fortune gave you a bit of a laugh

  7. Been a pretty entertaining night in front of Soccer Special. There's been some very interesting ties and a few standout results:

    Monday Night
    Preston North End 1-0 Blackpool

    Tuesday Night
Barnsley 0-0 Scunthorpe AET (Barnsley won 5-4 on penalties)
Birmingham City 3-2 Plymouth Argyle AET
    AFC Bournemouth 1-0 Portsmouth

    Brentford 3-2 Dagenham & Redbridge
    Brighton 1-3 Newport County AET
    Bristol Rovers 1-3 Watford
    Bury 3-2 Crewe Alexandra
    Charlton Athletic 4-0 Oxford United
Cheltenham Town 4-3 Crawley Town AET (Cheltenham had trailed 3-1 with 15 minutes left!)
    Colchester United 1-5 Peterborough United
    Doncaster Rovers 1-0 Rochdale
    Exeter City 0-2 QPR
    Gillingham 0-2 Bristol City
    Huddersfield Town 2-1 Bradford City
    Leyton Orient 3-2 Coventry City
    Middlesbrough 1-2 Accrington Stanley
    Millwall 2-1 AFC Wimbledon
    Morecambe 1-0 Wolves
    Northampton Town 1-2 Milton Keynes
    That lot 3-1 Hartlepool
    Oldham 0-1 Derby County
    Port Vale 1-2 Walsall
    Rotherham Utd 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday
    Sheffield United 1-2 Burton Albion
    Shrewsbury Town 1-3 Bolton Wanderers
    Southend Utd 0-1 Yeovil Town
    Stevenage 2-0 Ipswich Town
    Swindon Town 1-0 Torquay
    Tranmere 2-0 Mansfield
    Wycombe 1-2 Leicester City
    York City 0-4 Burnley

Obviously a lot of teams will field very different sides in this competition but still some surprises - particularly Newport's win at Brighton and Accy Stanley's win at Boro.

IF Notts get through we've got a good chance of a big tie, with most premiership sides coming into the competition and we could also play that lot, The Rams or Leicester. But let's just get through our tie first lol!

  8. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham @Super_Danny_Allsopp
I was a big fan of your chosen player, I thought he was an amazing talent and I was disappointed when we sold him. I hope you enjoy visiting us and even taking part, come tell us about yourself briefly. :)

Ps. Weymouth does a prediction league which is great fun, I'd have a look at it buddy!

  9. Here's the preview of the shirt I shared on Facebook.

    999023_10152513564165961_1511631166_n.jp

When we dropped Nike, I was concerned that we was moving to Fila. Mainly because I consider Nike to be of good quality and it's a brand I really like, it's also one which is popular. I'm not really fussed about brands, if they're quality items that's all that matters to me but I was concerned also about how Fila brand their products.

The first season's shirt I really disliked the stitching and the badge, I also wasn't keen on the position of the Fila labels.

They've actually grown on me a lot and last years was much nicer + better stitching. For anyone who wonders why I'm going on about stitching @GrannyPie is an expert at this and she drummed it into me to look/watch out for 'good' stitching, so I'm a little fussy.

Personally the teaser looks nice, the bad is shinny and looks nice. Previously I felt they bordered tacky, especially the first season which just looked dreadful to me.

    I'm picky I know ;)

  10. I see our neighbours got off to a bad start to their league campaign. How well do you think they will do this year? I know a lot Notts fans don't like them but try and put your biased to one side and tell us below how you think they will fare and where they will finish.

I personally think they will have a difficult time in the league and may struggle to stay up, personally I hope they do but I fear that they may not get the best of starts and their manager Paul Cox (ex Notts player and Eastwood Town manager) may get the chop early on in this campaign.

However we will see, what's your views.

  11. I was quite proud of this, I can recall being nervous about handing them out and even more so when news was going around that Lee Hughes would be leaving.

I started promoting the site a few weeks earlier and they didn't get a great reception, I found that holding them out and asking people to take one to have a read on the way home or inside the match worked well. I was delighted one night, as Jake and Ellie actually encouraged me to do it when I wasn't really keen on the idea.

It was on the back of The Millers defeat and I thought it would generate hassle, as some fans had been very unfriendly prior but that's just people.

We cleared the whole lot, Jake and Ellie had the biggest smiles on their faces and I was even more proud of them than I already was. It grew into an obsession and I started really enjoying it, as I would bond with the children and they liked it also. Then I went and did my knee! So it took the sail off. I can remember one time, I can't remember who we played but I stood near the main gate on crutches. Jake was encouraging me to have a go, I didn't want to disappoint him or seem weak to him (I know what your thinking). He took flyers, walked up to people approaching and handed them one over.

Ellie then started walking up to others who were trying to get around Jake, she pointed them to my direction and I think the majority felt sorry for me because they came over.

I've had some really fun memories sharing these flyers out.

    You Pies!!

  12. Hi @shepshedpie,

Welcome to Pride of Nottingham, It's nice to see you've joined us here. We're a pretty small community but I sincerely hope your visits are enjoyable. :)

You will find there's quite a few things we cover and of course some funny banter takes place.

Whilst I think about, @weymouthPIE's running a prediction league. It's good fun and you never know, you might also enjoy it! I didn't do too badly in the trial but I think someone else will win it (not that it matters), just a bit of harmless fun really.

    Say Hello sometime, You Pies!

  13. I'm going to watch Derby v Blackburn this afternoon on Sky (might as well get my money's worth while I've got it), so good luck to the Rams and I hope you get off to a winning start. I'll be interested to see if Alan Judge plays and what sort of a game he has.

I know @super_ram will be either at the match, in a pub watching and having a pint of real ale, or listening on the radio, enjoy the game Super.

  14. Just got back from a pleasant little jaunt in our camper van, we went to Wells Next the Sea. We stayed at a temporary holiday site organised by the Camping and Caravanning Club which was on the sports field of a Junior School right in the middle of Wells, £9 per night.

A short walk took us down to the harbour and on the hottest day of the year yesterday we did a ten mile walk along a nature reserve to Holkham and back along the beach paddling in the sea to get our feet cooled off.  I didn't think I would be doing that a week ago when I had a bad back.

When we got back to the harbour we visited a pub (as you do) and had a pint (and a half for Mrs. H) of Adnams Ghost Ship, it was very pleasant but I noticed that it was cloudy and assumed that the cloudiness was deliberate to give it a ghostly appearance, however on returning home I have checked the internet with my friend Mr. Google and found out it should be clear. Oh well, as I say it was a pleasant enough drink with a definite strong hoppy flavour. I can only assume the cloudiness was due to the hot weather.

  15. I would like to know if Notts will play the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this season.

Can somebody explain how does it work?

I want Notts win a trophy this season :D

  16. The fund raising committee held a meeting last Wednesday 24th July 2013.

At that meeting it was unanimously decided that we would take the giant step and move the process on to the final level.

To that end we gave the go ahead to our sculptor, Andrew Edwards

    http://www.cornoviiedwards.com/#!jimmy-&-jack

to commence the making of the statue at his Wedgwood Studio in Stoke-On Trent.

On Friday I was contacted by Andrew and he informed me that he had began work on the statue on Thursday 25th July, all was well and it was processing along nicely, the beginning of a major stage in the quest to have the statue in place at our Meadow Lane Stadium has begun.

We also decided that we would like to connect our younger fan base and get that section of our supporters interested and aware of just how important Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler were, and indeed, still are, to Notts County Football Club.

We intend, during the school holidays to take a party of 12-16 year olds over to the studio where the statue is being built, there they will have a hands on experience in the moulding of the clay that will be in the finished result, we are sure that it would be a life remembering experience for them. They will also receive a small souvenir to keep.

On the same day we hope, in conjunction with Stoke CityFC, take them on a tour of the Britannia Stadium with a little hospitality thrown in.

Numbers will be limited as it will be a mini bus, we will announce final details then invite all our supporters between the age of 12-16 years of age to apply and a draw will be made  and the lucky ones will go. We intend to repeat this process for the future school holidays.

There is still a fair bit of work and fundraising to do, but we are confident, with your support, that we can achieve the goal in 2014.

  18. Radio Red have just run an interview with Jim Rodwell and he said we are about to sign a young player from Celtic on loan.

    Anyone heard anything?

  19. Hi Marshall,

Really glad you're here and I repeat the 'broken record' line but I hope you enjoy it. With support and active members I believe this place can be a great fan site and I will do my utmost to make sure each member sees value in time personal time here. Thanks for taking the time to join us!

  20. Notts County have completed the signing of former Charlton Athletic striker Danny Haynes. The 25 year old striker put pen to paper on a two year deal today with the option of extending it by a further year.

The much sought after striker has worked with Chris Kiwomya before when he began his career at Ipswich Town, and he has also played for Barnsley, Bristol City, Millwall, and he has also represented England at under 19 level. Notts had to fend off plenty of competition from championship clubs to attain his signature.

He sounds like a pretty promising signing, and he appears highly rated by a lot of people.

Welcome to Notts County Danny :) I look forward to seeing him in action

  21. Notts Media Team have posted this..

Evening! Keep an eye on Sky Sports News tomorrow morning (we believe around 10.30). They will be live at Meadow Lane for a special feature!

New player possible or as Joe said on fb, might be related to our game against sheffield.

  22. Notts have added to their strikeforce ahead of tommorow's opening game with Sheffield United with the signing of Chelsea Youth product Adam Coombes. Coombes impressed during a two week trial at the club and scored a goal against Ipswich in the last friendly. The 22 year old has had league one experience during a loan spell with Yeovil Town, and he's also represented England at under 16 and under 17 level.

Welcome to the club Adam, best of luck :) COYP

  23. I don't like the new format of this programme, they've got three fans for the three local teams.

Where's uncle Colin? It's not the same.
