  1. I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Joe and his family a lovely holiday, I hope you have a great break and the weather holds for you.

After all the hard work on this site you deserve to have a rest and recharge your batteries. I hope Super Ram finds a few real ale pubs to sample, I can see him and GrannyPie now in their "kiss me quick" hats. :joker:

Have a good one folks and if you can keep in touch let us know what you are up to.

  2. Here are the groups for Spurs, Wigan, & Swansea

    Group K

    Spurs

Anji (Sold Willian and Eto to Chelsea) (Russian)

    Sheriff (Moldova)

    Tromso (Norway)

Spurs will stroll through this group. Anja have sold all their best players. Tromso are only in it cause Besiktas got thrown out for match fixing. Sheriff will be tough away but cannon fodder at home.

    Group A

    Swansea

    Valencia

    Kuban (Russian)

    St Gallen (Swiss)

Swansea have a good chance of advancing. Valencia should win the group. Kuban are a bit of an unknown quantity. They are the biggest threat to Swansea. St Gallen did beat Spartak Moscow to qualify so they could be a dark horse.

    Group D

    Wigan

    Rubin Kazan (Russian)

    Maribor (Slovenian)

    Zulte Waregem (Belgian)

Rubin are by far the best team in the group. Wigan shouldn't fear either of the other 2. Zulte will be their biggest threat IMO. Maribor are seasoned competitors so can't be ruled out.

  4. Hi @patsman1,

The username seems to ring a bell, how are you?

Welcome to the community here at Pride of Nottingham! I hope you enjoy your time here and if you join us a little later for the Match Chat, I will see you there. If not, I hope to see you around our community.

    You Pies!

  5. Leyton Orient have had a very good start to the season, ex Notts manager Russell Slade (currently Orient boss) will no doubt be eager to do well on Tuesday to continue his teams streak.

It's a game myself and quite a few others don't expect anything from, however you have to think on the bright side otherwise it would be pointless even going, so with that said you never know. We might break their start but how many more games can we lose? 1 point in 6 is the opposite to our opposition.

If Notts are to get anything out of the game, I firmly believe we will have to be calm and slow in building but at all costs we will have to hold possession.

We can't just whip the ball to the win and attack games like this, we need creative play and surely I am not the only one who believes our dynamics are to flat. We should be attacking through the middle/centre of the park and in those terms we can't, we should push the balls to the flanks. We should also be far more dangerous from set pieces but it seems we as a club are unsure how to use them correctly.

More importantly, they have to push on and not leave open space. Marking at Orient will be vital and if Chris wants to keep his job, he will need to drum our mistakes into the players and make sure he tries to change in game if things aren't working.

I would hate to see us axe another but it's bordering a joke. Dean Yates said it was a shambles and it's saddening but true. COME ON NOTTS!!

    Thoughts?

  6. Rodgers ready for title fight

<!--url{0}-->Brendan Rodgers believes there is more to come from Liverpool and says they will "fight" to remain in the title race.

The Reds saw their perfect start to the season ended at Swansea City on Monday, but a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium was enough to preserve their unbeaten record and send them back to the top of the Premier League table.

Four seasons have come and gone since Liverpool were last considered to be realistic contenders for the crown, with the Merseyside outfit having spent too long for their liking outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League party.

Returning to that competition is the main target for those at Anfield, but Rodgers will do all he can to keep the Reds in the hunt for a first top flight triumph in 24 years.

"We are getting a level of consistency, and that was the biggest thing for me.

"When I came here last year, there was no consistency in the performance. But now we are just churning out wins and if we can't win we are drawing games with resilient performances, like in the last 25 minutes against Swansea.

"I still believe we will get better and more fluent as the season goes on, so we are happy to be top and we are ready for a fight to stay there."
  7. NOTTS County have told Francois Zoko he is free to leave.

The 30-year-old Ivorian forward has only played 24 minutes as a sub for the Magpies so far this season.

And he was left out of the first-team squad completely for their last game against Walsall in League One.

He has already turned down a move abroad, but he could still be on his way out of Meadow Lane before the transfer window closes on September 2.

For me we're weak in Midfield, he provides good cover and in form he would be hard not to play. I don't understand why we don't try to get the most players ability and the consistency spot on, so that they can take care of themselves from that point on. We just seem to release them and move and it's not always the best option!

Some will be glad, some like me will be disappointed. Life's like this and so if he moves we need to accept it but I just feel we need him right now.

  8. Well here he is George my grandson who is a very proud young 'Pie, we bought him a new kit for his 5th birthday which is today, he loves it and can't wait to accompany me down to Meadow Lane.

  9. Signed on emergency loan.

Through trial by wikipedia, Haber doesn't exactly look like a goal scoring machine, to say the least.

But I'll reserve proper judgement until I've seen him play.

    As for Grealish, who knows?!

  10. Surprised to see no comments about the defeat to MK Dons on here.

What does everyone think? Is it time to change manager or have we been down that road before?

My view is that it is still too early to sack the manager, we can turn it round it is only 6 games into the season and we can't go on sacking managers every 6 months, CK has made new signings and it all takes time to gel, lets give him a bit longer and get behind the team, manager and owners and get through this together.

    What's others views?

  11. We're getting pretty big time! Notts will be on TV for the third time already this season next month when we travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second round of the JPT. The match will be on Tuesday 8th October.

    The draw in full:
    York City v Rotherham United
    Sheffield United v Hartlepool United

    Wolves v Notts County

    Mansfield Town v Chesterfield

    Fleetwood Town v Crewe Alexandra
    Morecambe v Carlisle United

Preston North End v Oldham Athletic

    Port Vale v Rochdale

Southend United v Dag & Red
    Peterborough United v Brentford

    Stevenage v MK Dons
    Leyton Orient v Coventry City

    Oxford United v Portsmouth

    Swindon Town v Plymouth Argyle

    Wycombe Wanderers v Bristol City

    Crawley Town v Newport County

Some tasty looking ties - especially York v Rotherham and Mansfield v Chesterfield

  12. Depressed by County's start to the season? Well spare a thought for fans of Northern Irish Premiership side Ballinamallard United.

    Their result today?

    Portadown 11-0 Ballinamallard United

No financial meltdown, no youth team being fielded. These two finished side by side in the league last season!

Just remember, no matter how bad things seem, it could always be worse

  13. After beating BOTH Sheffield clubs recently......................................

Goodness me! Do we have another Weymouth based pie here in @weymuff? I know there are a few down here but it'll be great if I'm not the only Dorset Pies representative on here :D

Feel free to join in the prediction league guys. Been going for 5 weeks now but we're all so bad you'll probably catch us all up within one week lol

  16. Two new members to welcome today, welcome guys, I hope you enjoy our community.

  17. Finally the end of the road for the Poppies, who were today wound up in the high court over a 58 grand debt

Meanwhile Sky Sports News show absolutely no interest in this sad news, and instead continue to bang on and on about clubs paying tens of millions of pounds for single players.

The whole thing just makes me sick really.

As for KTFC who knows what the future holds. According to their website, their games tommorow night and on Saturday will go ahead while an administrator winds everything up and makes sure creditors get a fair share of whats left. Not that that'll be much.

Very sad news. Was only in 2008 that they knocked us out of the FA Cup 2nd round...

  18. I'm not totally confident in England whoever they are playing these days, but Ukraine are a decent side who can, and have, caused us problems.

Looking forward to a good game though!

Gerrard is a Notts fan :)

  19. Hopefully everyone comes back for this week, last week was very quiet

    This week's fixtures:
    Leicester City v Wigan Athletic

    Watford v Charlton Athletic

    Bristol City v Peterborough United

    Wolves v Swindon Town

    Newport County v Morecambe

    York City v Mansfield Town

    Deadline is 1:30pm on Saturday

    Good luck everybody:)

  20. We have another new member to welcome @guineapigpie :waving:

I hope you enjoy being a part of this friendly community.

  21. Due to the International break, there are no Championship fixtures this Saturday. So instead of the usual 2 fixtures from each league, this week there are 3 fixtures from league one and 3 fixtures from league two.

    This week's matches:
    Bradford City v Brentford
    Crewe Alexandra v Peterborough United
    Rotherham United v Sheffield United
    Burton Albion v Oxford United
Dagenham & Redbridge v Exeter City
    Plymouth Argyle v Bristol Rovers

Deadline for predictions is Saturday 1:30PM

As ever, any new members who wish to join are more than welcome. There aren't many points on the board at the minute so you have plenty of time to catch up. Just post your predictions for the aforementioned matches on this thread.

3 points for a correct score, 1 point for a correct result.

    Good luck everyone :)

  22. Who's going to be watching tonights qualifier then? Pretty important game for England and realistically we should be winning this one fairly comfortably, but there are no certainties in football.

So frustrating the amount of players you see drop out through "injury" in the build up to Internationals. Sturridge is suddenly injured, despite being absolutely fine in every game so far and showing no signs of any injury. What on earth do they make them do in training in the build up to Internationals?

I'll probably end up flicking between the England match and the game in Belfast between Northern Ireland and Portugal. Could see that being a really good game. Northern Ireland are at their most dangerous when they play teams they have no right to get anything against, as they proved against Russia.

    Predictions for the England game?

    I'll go 4-0 England :)

  23. Another week is about to begin so time to move on from Saturday and look ahead to the next match. Not exacly the biggest of games, and our JPT record suggests we probably will get beaten but I think this game has taken on some importance given recent results.

I would hope Kiwomya uses this match as an oppurtunity to trial Liddle in midfield with Deano and Manny Smith as the two CBs. And TWO up front!

Would also be good to see the likes of Melvin, Coombes, Thompson, Nangle and Waite given a chance in this game. We will likely be relying on these youngsters at some stage this season so game time will be crucial.

Saying that, this is a game I'd love for us to win simply for the fact that we'll then have 11 days before our next match, and a win would give the fans a little something to smile about before the next game, and at least some cause for optomism.

Burton though are a good side, and given our recent form I predict an away win. People who know me know I'm always optomistic of us winning whatever the situation, but I just think there's such a bad vibe about the place, a lack of confidence in the team that our annual 1st round exit is inevitable. I hope I'm wrong though...

Anyone going? I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see a three figure gate to be honest.

    COYP

  24. Another ballsed up accumulator on the WC games.
    Beat Czech Republic away
obviously I went for a home win
