Today marks exactly 10 years since the Belgian left back signed for Borussia. A great club servant, who has been captain of the club for longer than anyone else, even Berti Vogts. Agreed to be the penalty taker until he missed one, which he did last year after 17 goals in a row. Not many 'foreign' players are such good servants in this day and age.

Taking the grandchildren home last night, they ran on to the drive and rushed back saying the car had gone. "It's in the garage" was my reply, apparently they never use the garage at their house it's a storage area.
This got me to thinking I reckon I am one of the few people who actually use a garage to house the car!
What about you? Anyone else put their car in the garage?

Reading @tonyhateley's post about his follow on Christmas reminded me of a holiday about 30 years ago.We were in Cornwall with @GrannyPie's parents and my father-in-law was driving us around visiting various tourist attractions.Anyway,it was very hot and we decided to stop at a pub for a drink near St Ives..My mother-in-law and granny went and sat at an outside table while me and my father-in-law went to get the drinks. As we approached the pub entrance we heard music but it was christmas carols.Going in through the door we were met with the lovely smell of christmas dinner and saw that there were christmas decorations everywhere. The bar staff were all wearing christmasy clothes. In fact everything inside the pub was as it would be at christmas but outside it was August and very hot.It was very surreal. It turned out that the landlord had decided to have a christmas themed charity day.We were even given christmas crackers. When we took our drinks (and crackers)to our table the women thought we were having them on.

It's very cold here this morning with a dusting of snow. It's a day of looking after youngest grandchildren for us with school and nursery runs at various times of the day.
I've got a lot of computer work to do so hoping to get that done at some stage.
What's on your agenda, work? School? College? Or just relaxing in the warm?
Let us know your plans.

Eighteen months ago I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2 which I'd used for years without any trouble.
However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.
To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is also incompatible with several other applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 2 and Playboy 6.1.
Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. A shareware beta-programme, Party Girl 2.1 that I tried, had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.
Eventually I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware.
Sensing a way out, I then upgraded to Fiance 1.0 only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded (at great cost) to Wife 1.0, which I reluctantly agreed to, because, whilst Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and CleanHouse2000.
Shortly after this upgrade however I then discovered that Wife 1.0 can be very unstable and costly to run. For example, any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them.
Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary Explorer and E-mail Porn Filter, and can, without warning, launch Photostrop and Whingezip! These latter products have no Help files and I have to try and guess what the problem is myself.
Additional costly problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring Shoe Shop Browser for new attachments and also Hairstyle Express, which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Wife 1.0 also spawns unwelcome child processes that drain my resources.
It also conflicts with some of the new games I wanted to try, stating that they are an illegal operation. When Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Audi TT program it often crashes or runs the system dry.
Wife 1.0 also has a rather annoying pop-up called Mother-in-Law, which can't be turned off. Recently I've attempted to try Mistress 2000, but there could be problems. A friend has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects the presence of Mistress 2000 it could delete all my MS Money files before un-installing itself.
Any ideas?

Yes you read it right, it is for the Hateley household anyway. We are busy wrapping Christmas presents for our two eldest grandchildren who we haven't seen since early December, they are coming tomorrow and we are having another Christmas Day. ![]()
Can't wait to see their faces when they see the stack of pressies we have got for them, best one is a Scalextric, Grandad will be busy on that tomorrow.
Sadly it means I won't be going to the match tomorrow but we only see these two grandchildren once a month so we have to make sacrifices.

Derry; No Lack of Confidence. Hopefully the squad can show this on Saturday, do you think confidence is an issue?
Personally I think it's nothing major, it's not exactly @jsrjay type problem. Totally different type of thing but I do think that there are some underlining matters with confidence, if this isn't the case I a little concerned it would then question our ability because we haven't been attacking games how Derry would like us too.

Hopefully the headlines will ring positive news for @super_ram but I do hope whatever the outcome Stuart Peace remains in charge, he's no more to blame for the situation than some of the players are.
A Notts fan mentioned on Twitter he'll be making his way down from London and aims to catch the Derby v Forest game.
I hope he's right about Derby thrashing them, it will either be that or Forests comeback but I am hopeful they will lose. I wonder what my oak @jsrjay will think about watching a real team for once? Joking mate.
Derby!! Derby!!

Here's a view of what the general census of the Crewe Alexandra fans think.
Before the Game
sankeyred; Said "I think were playing these at the right time, another away win 1-2."
crewebacca; Said "Given the current form of both teams we'll hammer 'em 1-0 C.O.Y.R."
BenAlexl Said "Tough one this not beaten County in the last nine meetings, but we are looking stronger in all departments so I will go with 1-2 COYR."
alexmick; Said "Another tough away encounter, although they are all difficult in this very competitive league. Having not won away at County since 1997, perhaps this Alex outfit, with our new look forward line can do the business tomorrow and make headway on the teams just above us. I will go for a hard fought 2-1 victory, with goals from Ajose and Grant."
Crewe99; Said "I'd go with us getting a point today. Not one of our favourite opponents so if we keep adding to our total, I'm happy.
Gone with the same team that won last week."
Aftermath
Ryancrewefan4ever; Said "Ness has just hammered one in to make it 1-1, sounds like were just edging it so far."
alexmock; Said "Not too far off picking up that valuable point today, as their goal was a very late one. I see that they had a man sent off for a second bookable offence. Grant, once again the man to receive the rough treatment."
itwasin; Said "I think Vale have cleaned up a bit since Micky left, however let's hope Vale don't take quick free kicks or corners as Crewe get caught out to often in this department, not to mention late Goals!"
SuperCrewe; said "Another decent performance, game could have gone either way, but for the first time in a few week the result went against us.
Yes Ajose had a couple of chances that he didn't take , but he's a livewire of the like we haven't seen since the Nicky Maynard days!
Lots of optimism, and for me not a question of whether we can avoid the drop, more a case of how high can we finish !"
GSmith; Said "Was at the game yesterday and saw behind me, fans fighting. A lad had a go at a fan for snapping a seat off, so he started on him. And what look like his dad joined in and said he was going to slit the lads jaw. All this because a crewe fan had a go at another person for snapping a seat off. Massive heads gone."

The things players/managers say but actually mean.... [in this game put what they actually mean!?!]...
Example
Steve Davis - "We have got to be braver" - "We lost a close fought game and were unlucky to leave with nothing."
Steve Cotterill - "Our playing budget probably isn’t as big as a couple of teams in our league. Everybody will say ‘I don’t believe that’, but it’s a fact." and "We have been able to cherry pick our players but if we go into the Championship we would be struggling with what we are on that’s for sure."
Means "Compared to TOP Championship teams we have peanuts despite the fans being thickle and getting above their stations quoting the wealth of the chairman as if it's our playing budget." and "We have to spend careful, I am a bargain buy manager and clubs hire me to look at the cheaper end of players on a limited budget. We may bottle League One if we gain promotion fans will be in for a rude awakening."
Shaun Derry - "People need a sense of 'realism'." - "I want to play down promotion and I think the fans and media should."
Over to you... What do managers say but really mean? It doesn't have to be 100% true just what you think they mean but can't say.

Before I explain this, don't get me wrong I like Liam Noble but I think others should remain in place. It just seems unfair that he comes straight back into play, I would personally save him as a substitution but I admit he could be missed as that 'driving force' within our midfield.
Leigh Curtis has put his thoughts up as the general cliche when a player is missed.
In the aftermath of Saturday's defeat to Bristol City, Notts County manager Shaun Derry was predictably asked about his plans for the chaos known as the transfer window.
He said centre forwards were his priority and why wouldn't they be having conceded himself that his team were struggling to find a cutting edge.
But while Internet forums and social media have been rife with rumours about Joe Bloggs moving to Meadow Lane, the best deal of the window has already been concluded.
It won't grab as many headlines as a new signing, but the fact the Football Association's disciplinary department no longer has Liam Noble locked up in manacles is just as important.
This part I think stands out as a good start, yet I could be being picky about the title. Leigh is right about the importance of Noble's return not being overlooked.
The midfielder is free to play against Crewe this weekend after serving a five-game ban and for Derry – to pardon the cliche – it will be like having a new signing at his disposal.
I don't exactly agree that Noble should walk straight back into the squad.
Whereas I would probably leave Smith out for this game, mainly for the fact we need legs and people able to get the ball into decent positions (which Smith can offer when he plays well) I just think we have alternative options. I'd also like to see Whitehouse again because I think he looks a moderately useful player.
I also hope this isn't to be the best news within the transfer window as suggested.

Easy game right? Let's not go there. ![]()
Crewe Alexandra have put together some decent results which in turn have lifted them up from the dreaded drop zone. Key results include winning those who never lose 'Bristol City' but they have also draw to sides in contention for promotion. In truth they can play some good football, although they do have an inexperienced squad. Some very good players are within their team (albeit unknown/underrated).
Also, if anyone made use of their academy it's them. Several players have made the grade, part of the struggle for them from what I recall being mentioned when I last spoke to the Railwaymen's fans.
We need to use this game to find our feet and get back some consistency, if the squad train hard I see no reason why the loan players cannot offer us something but if we are disjointed in the game I can this being used against us. I would love to write the game off and predict an easy win, yet I think they'll make it extremely difficult for us (either that or we will). ![]()
My heart tells me we can win, though my mind says this will either end up 1-1 or 2-2. I'll go with 1-1.
I just hope to see some direct play whereby hard work shines and we see a glimpse that we are together. Chin up, heads high... C'mon YOU PIES!!

Here we go folks, even the highlights look far better than many of the results games. I think you can highlight from the goals who pushed Notts forward yesterday and it was a great team effort.
