  1. Our Grandson George is coming up to five in September so I have bought him a Notts home kit, not a bad price at £30 for the whole kit, so well done on that one Notts.

I can't wait to see him in it and take him to his first match, he loves wearing his England kit so I know he will like it. I'll post a picture when he first wears it.

  2. Away from Meadow Lane, I think I would have to say the Emirates Stadium.

If they hadn't torn down the Old Wembley I would have no doubt said that. Only for someone to tell me it's not an English League ground!! It doesn't matter really, anywhere within the UK.

I do like Pride Park, I think it's a nice stadium and hopefully sooner rather than later I will be able to see it inside. Possible get @super_ram to go for apart of his birthday present and watch Derby play with sons and grandchildren. I'd love to see Jake's reaction, especially if Notts managed to get drawn to them in one of the cups.

    Come on share yours!

  3. Welcome @Magpie Mike,

I hope you like Pride of Nottingham, you will find us to be pretty friendly and very keen to discuss Notts. Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Thank you for taking the time to join us here, I hope to see you around.

  4. This is a fantastic piece of history!!

    1150293_10201686166696330_212882975_n.jp

This was shared by one of our Facebook followers, along with many other pictures. Thought this would be interesting to share here! It really is cool.

  5. It's Member of the Month time yet again, it's passed by very quickly.

Well Done @tonyhateley, You fully deserve this!

Not only do we find your post to be funny, helpful and interesting but you've helped out in many areas this passed month. We've decided that we needed to inspect, as a photo finish was on the cards due to another member also doing extremely well. It's at this point however, I have to say we need more people posting and I encourage any lurking members to be apart of our community and rival for this. ;) It's just a way to praise members, so it would certainly be nice to have more in the running.

This doesn't take anything from Tony or previous winners, I am sure each will agree that we need competition and active members.

Great work by PoN's Official Legend!

  6. Hi everybody, I'm a true Juve fan and Notts County lover.

I would ask you if you know why Juventus says to have 31 titles, when the Italian League says 29.

I think most of the people will say 32 for the friendship, but I want to know if somebody really know the facts from 2006

    FORZA JUVE!

  7. First game of the season and only tomorrow!!

What do you think the attendance will be?

Someone asked me on Facebook, I'm not sure about away games but 2.5 would be nice. Notts have said we've sold over 800 tickets, so hopefully more will pay on the day. I just hope this business about them being slow to get fans in isn't true, we don't need this at the start of the season!

I think it will be a good game, I can firmly see Notts winning and I really hope we do. It would be great to get the season off with a good run and build this optimism.

Despite what that football magazine said, I am also confident that my league prediction can come true, I have full faith in Notts and Chris.

Let us know your thoughts, share below. :)

  8. I was at the match yesterday and our next door neighbour (a Fword fan but a nice chap really) delightedly told Mrs. H that he had heard on the radio we were losing 4-1 so she had better be careful when I got home.

Some time later I walked in all depressed after our humiliation and she had a pint of my favourite beer ready for me on the coffee table to cheer me up, bless her, one in a million.

She never fails to say "I hope they win" when I leave the house and is always there to pick up the pieces when we lose.

  9. nobody in my family really likes football, my dad would only take me because i asked him. it was just by luck that he took me to see notts, so i dont know anyone who is a support. all my friends support forest or premier league teams!

there is people here who might also know a member whos joined.

my idea is to see if we can help or encourage them to taking part, it is fun once you get into the mix of things and i think if we could get a few more active posters it would make the world of a difference.

  10. We've have some very good players, so of whom I don't feel get the credit they deserve. It seems that once a bad performance occurs, which let's face it does happen and it can to the majority of the squad, it tends to stick with certain players. I feel we have a talented League One side, just missing a few links but sure we have creative players.

Who is our best player and why?

I'd have to say 'Gary Liddle'. He's consistently good, robust and very hard working. Regardless of where he plays you have confidence in him and he shines Championship quality to me.

    My Favourite player?

Jamal Campbell-Ryce, I like his character and how he tries. He doesn't give less than 100% and he tries to get things going, which I respect. At the time where the players went away, he was one of the one's who remained to give respect to the fans.

Add your own thoughts everyone :)

  11. I see our old boy Kelvin is rumoured to be rejoining them across the river for 2.5 million from Celtic.

It seems their owners do have money after all and I was hoping they were another Munto.

  12. Hull City are rebranding their name to Hull City Tigers for the new Prem League season.

Notts could become Notts County Magpies and Derby become Derby County Rams etc.

I,personally prefer traditional names and do not care for this type of Americanisation

    What do you think?

  13. Kiwomya left frustrated

<!--url{0}-->Notts County boss Chris Kiwomya endured a frustrating afternoon as Peterborough ran out 4-2 winners at Meadow Lane.

Goals from Tommy Rowe, Tyrone Barnett, Grant McCann, from the penalty spot, and Britt Assombalonga gave over 2,000 Posh fans plenty to cheer about as their team made it nine goals in five days, coming after a crushing 5-1 midweek Capital One Cup victory at Colchester.

Dean Leacock had opened the scoring for County in the firs thalf, while substitute Yoann Arquin scored a late consolation penalty in a game which got away from the home side after a decent first period.

"There were a couple of turning points," he said.

"We've scored a great goal early on but then we concede straight away from a set-piece which was disappointing.

"I think there was a penalty there for us but we don't get it and then we concede a soft goal. They also get a penalty where I'm not sure if we catch him.

"Those are major turning points but overall I don't think we've done as well as we can do. We didn't get the ball in wide areas like we should have done, like what we did for the first goal.

"They (Peterborough) are a good team and have been together for a while and pass the ball well. But you've got to stay in the game against these teams and exploit their weaknesses, which are down the wide areas, and I just thought we didn't do that well enough."

I was there. What a way to support the team! My best memory from last season

  15. Welcome to the fun,n1c9f6c6.I hope you enjoy your time with us.

  16. All opinions definitely needed on this one before it sparks a Unipie/Notts-Joe war!

The issue is JCR. Me and Joe normally agree on most Notts matters but I could not believe my eyes when I read this in our conversation.

In the context of discussing JCR's attributes, I quote from Joe: "Who's the player we look to cross the ball, create play, exploit defenders, get into the opposition area? JCR"

My response was astonishment to which I replied how I could not believe he was of this opinion. To my utter dismay he replied and I quote again:

"I'll disagree with you, think we need to stop relying on JCR. He's too good for this league and the pressure he has on his shoulders is probably more than any player"

I was astounded by his opinions! Do any of you agree with Joe's comments? I love a good debate but I hope I'm not on my own in this one in thinking JCR is a weak link in our side?

I feel once he beats a man, he then back tracks and tries to beat him again. I never feel like the guy has an end product and is far too greedy and breeds too much individualism.

    Tell us your opinions!

  17. If anyone is wanting to delete the "@" part of the @Mention feature there is a way in doing so, it will just involve you editing your post after you have posted it.

I don't know if anyone is actually interested in doing so, but here is how if you would like to.

    The @Mention feature is found on the user sidebar next to their post;

    cheekyponsidebar_zps41345ab9.jpg

If you add someone into a post using this, all you need to do is click edit after you have posted your comment/reply.

Delete the @ part of the code (only the @, nothing else)

The link will still work fine, but the reply will read better than it does with the @ sign in it.

If this doesn't bother you, then just ignore this topic!

  18. After a narrow win against Fleetwood Town in the Capital One cup, Notts will no doubt be wanting to leave an impression on Peterborough United. The suspension to Manny for his second bookable offense leaves a slight dilemma for Notts, especially with Liddle also being out after being red card at Sheffield United.

Now do we put Sheehan into a centre back position and allow young Tempest to play left back (my personal preference) or do we try to feature Hollis if he's anywhere near being ready after his injury?

I personally wouldn't risk putting an unfit Hollis into the mix, not even if he was near 100% because for myself I think it would be better to rest him to avoid further injuries.

We've also seen two forwards score, whilst the young McGregor seems quite capable of featuring in our squad and he is almost certain to start against Peterborough after his impressive debut.

    My team would consist of;

    Bart
    Dumbuya - Leacock - Sheehan - Tempest
Campbell-Ryce - McGregor - Zoko (as a deep laying attacking midfielder) - Haworth
    Haynes - Showunmi

I would like to see what Haworth offers and although this would mean dropping Labadie and Fotheringham, I feel it would allow us to throw them on as surprise.

Sadly I see the game being very tough and I am unsure I can Notts will win, I certainly can but my gut tells me it would be in their favour and so I won't be predicting the score. Thoughts?

  19. I was really pleased to see so many people getting involved in round 1. Since then we've had quite a few more new members join the site so it'd be great to see some more of you getting involved :)

You can read the round 1 thread to get an idea of how it works but basically, I'll post six fixtures every week and you just have to post your predictions for each game on this thread.

    Scoring system example:
My prediction: Notts County 3-1 Stevenage

Correct score (games ends 3-1 to Notts) - 3 points

Correct result (Notts win, but not by a score of 3-1) - 1 point

Incorrect result (Notts draw or lose) - 0 points

Most rounds will revolve around matches taking place on a Saturday and I will post the fixtures for the Saturdays on a Wednesday. Some rounds will revolve around games on a Tuesday night, I would imagine this to be the case around January/February when matches are being postponed left right and centre, and these fixtures will be posted on the Sunday.

Scores for Saturday rounds will be posted on the Saturday evenings on this thread, unless I've been away, in which case it could be on a Sunday. Tuesday night scores will be posted the following day on the Wednesday.

Hopefully I've made that clear enough, so lets get on to this Saturday's fixtures!

    This Saturday's prediction games are:
    Bolton Wanderers v Reading
Huddersfield Town v Queens Park Rangers
    Brentford v Sheffield United
    Oldham Athletic v Walsall
    Bristol Rovers v Scunthorpe United
    Oxford United v Bury

All matches are 3pm kick offs so predictions must be posted by 1:30pm on Saturday.

    Good luck :)

  20. Come on you lot I notice I am the only one posting on here in the early morning, you all seem to be night owls and probably sleeping in late next morning.

The first thing I do when I wake up is pick up my phone and check this forum while having a coffee in bed, it even comes before my own forum sometimes.

  21. Well what a summer its been for English football. The Under 21s went out of the group stages of their European Champions, the Under 20s went out of their world cup in the group stages, and the Women have gone out of their European championships in the group stages.

    All with barely a wimper.

When is the FA going to wake up and smell the coffee? Or should that be will the FA wake up and smell the coffee? Its blindingly obvious that we're stuck in the dark ages. I know people will point to the fact that we're ranked somewhere in the top 10 of the Fifa world rankings but the problem is we've stood still and all the other nations have not just caught up, they're overtaking us.

England's seniors, Under 21s, Under 20s and ladies all play the same boring style of football - hoof it and hope essentially. They cant keep the ball as well as the other nations and there's next to zero creativity going forwards. Even Iraq (no disrespect) completely outplayed our Under 20s at their world cup.

Big changes are needed from top to bottom in the England set-up. Its all well and good having expensive training facilities like St George's park but what use are they if we dont have the coaches to teach the game in the right way?

Germany has something like 70,000 UEFA A licenced coaches. We have less than 1,000. Thats not good enough. We need to get more coaches in there, managers who are upto date with the game and can get us keeping possesion and creating chances rather than hoofing the ball forwards hoping that one of our strikers gets to it first. And the strikers are no better, they're incapable of setting a goal up for themselves. They cant score unless its on a plate for them!

If nothing changes, I honestly think English teams will do well to even qualify for tournaments in a few years time.

I was talking to a friend of mine last night, and he really summed it all up for me with this:

Up front - Columbia have Falcao; Italy have Balotelli and Giovinco; Spain have David Villa and Fernando Torres; Germany have Mario Gomez, Kruse and Klose; Holland have Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben; Uruguay have Luis Suarez, Edison Cavani and Deigo Forlan, Argentina have Lional Messi and Sergio Aguero. England? We have a fat, overrated Rooney and a donkey called Andy Carrol.

    Sorry, rant over

What does everyone else think?

  22. Amazing game at Sixfields today, Coventry beat Bristol City 5-4 in their first "home game" of the season.

Coventry led 3-0 at half time but Bristol City pulled it back to 3-3; equalising on 74 minutes, but Coventry went straight up the other end and went 4-3 up. Bristol City again equalised on 85 minutes but just two minutes later, the Sky Blues won it and it ended 5-4 after 8 minutes of added time! Amazing game by the sounds of it!

The match was watched by just 2,204 people of which around 1200 were Bristol City fans.

Coventry fans certainly cant complain about not getting value for money. They've already seen 19 goals in their opening 3 games!

Fair play to those Coventry fans who did travel to this game, thats dedication of the highest order but I can completely understand those who refuse to go. Sad to see such a big club in such a mess

  23. Good morning fellow 'Pies, I hope you are all well. The sun is shining and I am off on another jaunt in my camper for a couple of days taking the grand kids camping. I'll be back for Saturdays match which I am really looking forward to.

I hope to be able to visit the site while I am away to get my fix of PoN.

  24. What has this world come to?

I just loaded my browser up which is set to show me news, along with bookmarked links for easy access. To the side of this very site there was the headline "Man allegedly kills wife, puts photo of her body online".

A horrifying crime scene hit Facebook Thursday after Derek Medina posted an image of his dead wife – and a blunt confession about why had killed

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/08/derek-medina-facebook_n_3728077.html

I am shocked, I do not know what to say but why Facebook???

  25. I'm trying to be creative on PoN's social streams, so when I'm bored or have a little free time I plan to do more like this.

    533942_10152560429960961_836832715_n.png

It didn't do that bad on Facebook and was shared once on Twitter (not counting my own retweet)
