Athletico madrid in the final of the champions league that for some people is a shock I got to say I'm not shocked I've been watching then in the La liga and they really have been proving them self holding their nerve they have the player and the management to do well this just proves money dose not make a team where is barca in the final Chelsea man city. I know teams have bad days and some time loose to teams they are not meant to on paper and people will see athletico as one of those teams that have got lucky. But i believe their league position helps and are top of their league for a reason not just lucky i think in the final they will give real madrid a fight and u never know thew may just win it .

So our season is over and we can relax a little after completing the great escape but please don't be a stranger on our site now.Why not have a go at the Play off league that @Dripsey3 is organising. It's just a bit of fun and helps keep interest going. Then there's the World Cup in a few weeks time. You could also tell us allΒ  about your holidays or day trips.(This is a community not just a football site and, in spite of the opinion of members of another site, there IS a lot of interest from members here,Take note @tonyhateley )

Transfers will also be a main subject for discussion as SD and managers of other clubs get busy during the summer. There will still be plenty for us chew over so come on everyone -KEEP POSTING.

Where's me sticks just in case anyone needs a prod.

Contract decisions will be made from tomorrow onwards and the first week from the end of the old season is crucial to our club. This week will see some players departing as expected and others staying when we expected them to go.Β

Should be an interesting week.

French team Clermont have appointed a female coach to help the team survive in Ligue 2.

Β

What are you thoughts on women managers? Would you accept one at Notts?

Β

If they know the game and can prove themselves to be good managers, I wouldn't see why not. Β I wouldn't agree with trying to get female coaches to match that of the population, as there just aren't that many women who would be up for the job.

Here we can list all our Sky Bet League One Final Standing Tables.

post-1-0-59483400-1375126984_thumb.png

I've asked quite a few people to take part, I'll customize and tweak the image I use here and let each writer have their own post. I also encourage members to take part, you can simply add your final table below or you could pm me. I would happily add it to the main site! Let's get this going - YOU PIES!!

I guess most of you would have missed the interview with Alan Sheehan after the Oldham match.

Colin asked him about his future and if he would be playing for Notts next season, he said that anyone would want to play for Derry but the club need to pay him and others better money if he was to stay, he said that he had taken a pay cut to stay at Notts but then they brought in new players who our now on loan for stupid money (a clear reference to Haynes) he said the players who wanted to play for the club and had helped keep them up were not rewarded enough.

That was the gist of the conversation and it didn't sound like he would be here next season, if you've got magpie player it should be on there, give it a listen.

I uploaded some of the photos I took yesterday to Facebook. Hope you enjoy them and feel free to tag yourself or any of your friends/family if you see them

Notts County continue their Continental Cup campaign as they host Bristol Academy Women on Sunday.
Β

Last year's WSL runners up are the second visitors to Meadow Lane in a week after the Lady Pies overcame WSL2 side Aston Villa by five goals on Wednesday. They don't find themselves top of group 3 in the Continental Cup though, as Sunday's opponents Bristol put nine goals past Oxford United.
Β

This won't deter the hosts though, who still remain unbeaten this season, with four wins and a draw from their first five games, including progressing to the FA Women's Cup Final. Bristol, however, have lost three of their five games so far this season, including two consecutive losses to Chelsea Ladies.
Β

Their form has taken a subsequent upturn, with a 2-0 victory over new side Manchester City followed up by a 9-2 victory over Oxford on Thursday, a momentum they will hope to bring into Sunday's game.

Welcome to the site @kieranc92.I hope you enjoy your time with us.

I don't think the manager was as committed to winning the league this year as he has been in the past, his comments all season have been a bit strange to me.

Β

I think his eggs were in the Champions League basket this year, and that he didn't really believe his team could be League Champions.

Β

Opinions?

I'm going to Wolfsburg on Saturday to see if a miracle can occur. Gladbach have already qualified for the Europa League, but a win at Wolfsburg (unlikely) and a Leverkusen defeat at home by Werder Bremen would mean 4th place and the Champions League.

Β

One can but hope...

I missed the arse end of the season, so my ratings may be a tad off, but here we go....

(I've only included players that have played a significant part in our season)

Bart - 7.5 - He's saved us so many times this season. He's not without his moments however, but isΒ definitely a solid keeper at this level, and maybe even above.
IN

Freeman - 5 - At times looked very good, at times looked rubbish. A little bit inconsistent for me, but no doubt a decent option at this level.

Undecided (Not our player, fee, wage demands, possibly better options)

Dumbuya - 5 - He's improved recently, he was quite decent from memory at the start of the season, but with such a poor side, his defending came into question, and well, he doesn't really have much defending ability.

INΒ (Contracted - otherwise undecided)

Leacock - 2 - He's crap. I don't understand the excuses people make for him. He looked rubbish and/or disinterested. Captain? Captain of the water boys, at a push. There was no coincidence in our turn of form and him being dropped.

OUT

Β Smith - 3 - Slightly better than Leacock. At least he looked like he wanted to put a shift in. Not good enough though.
OUT
Β

Hollis - 7.5 - For the part he's played in our turn of form, his goal-scoring, his ability to cope under a massive amount of pressure with no real experience apart from a few games here and there, he's been excellent. No nonsense and definitely not the finished article, but a potential to be a started or dependent 3rd choice CB next season.Β

IN

Mullins - 7 - I've only seen him play CM and as posted above only seen Magpie Player highlights since his switch to CB. However, I gather he was very good in giving that experience that Hollis needs next to him and his ability to read play has been invaluable.

UndecidedΒ (Age, not our player, wage demands)
Β

Sheehan - 8 - Always looked like he gave a flying fudge about the results even when we were getting battered every week (Most the season, really!). He is dependable, can get forward fairly well and his ability to slip into CB when needed was immense.Β

IN

Roberts - 5 - Played his part, too old and slow for next season.
OUT

JCR - 6.5 - When on fire, he's practically unplayable. However, when we were suffering a lot of the time he was so frustrating in beating and beating a man again. His crosses were at times woeful. How much of this poor form can we attribute to the team in general being rubbish? Not sure. However, when he's on form he is absolutely on form and very dangerous. With a better midfield and team as a whole, he is a very valuable player.Β

IN

Fotheringham - 1 - People said 'we don't realise what he does for the team'. I think we saw exactly how little he gave our team when he was replaced by Thompson who was so much better.

OUT

Thompson - 6.5 - As above, haven't seen a lot of him, but looked impressive on Magpie Player and didn't make too many mistakes when he was used at RB earlier in the season.

IN

Boucaud - 2 - At times plays balls that are Premier League quality, the rest of the time you wouldn't even know he was on the pitch. Formed possibly one of the worst midfield pairings in the football league, and possibly even below.

OUT

McGregor - 7 - Without his goals earlier in the season, there would have been no 'Great Escape' as we'd probably have been relegated in Feb.

Β

UndecidedΒ (Can't afford him)

Liddle - 6.5 - We have found his position in CM I think, he's a dependable player and we missed him largely throughout the season.

IN

Grealish - 7 - See McGregor. Been pretty solid throughout the season, draws a lot of fouls and is the bit of skill we need on the wing.

UndecidedΒ (Can't afford him)

Shwounmi - 5 - At times the scapegoat. He started the season really well, but this never lasted. He doesn't really win headers, or use his body much, and was lacking with the ball at his feet. Whoever wanted to pay money to sign him should see a mental health professional. I like big Enoch, however I don't think he's good enough.

OUT

Haynes - 1 - Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. Contributed absolutely nothing all season. Probably thought he was above the team, but in actual fact I would've stuck JCR as a target man than see him float about a football field. Summed his attitude up when he got sent off against Coventry, offered no apology to his team mates, no appeal to the decision, and practically sprinted to get a shower. Reports from one of my Hibs supporting mates has said that he's been equally as rubbish up there aswell.

OUT

Spencer - 8 - What a God-send this boy has been. Holds the ball up well, wins things with his head, and even capable with his feet. Hopefully we can keep a hold of him

IN

Murray - 6.5 - Looked quite good whenever we used him, let himself down a bit with a silly sending off at Peterborough, but we should be looking to keep him, without a doubt.

IN

Coombes, Ball, Balmy ect.. not worthy of a ratingΒ - OUT

I've almost certainly missed some out, apologies for that, and the long post! :P
Β

I took many pictures today, I narrowed it down to 159.

There's a huge chance I have taken your picture, so please do have a look - like and share. You will be helping us, help. ;)Gallery Here..

Thanks folks!

I think he will do really well he has the experience with man city in the perm league not much but some and played some really good games for man city how ever the back four he currently has at lester Β he may struggle if the foxes don't invest in more Β defenders. A good season for him and i think he will be a perm goal keeper till he retires he has one of the greats as his father and mentor. Good luck kasper have a great season next year.Β

Last Friday ,after collectingΒ  Grannypie's tablets etc from the chemist,I called in our local Spar shop. As I approached the shop I noticed 2 local beat police officers leisurely crossing the main road and also heading towards Spars. As I walked into the shop behind the officers I noticed some workmen near the refrigerated shelving(which was empty) As I was waiting to be served one of the officers told an assistant that they'd received a report stating that two women had been preventing customers from entering the shop. The assistant explained that they had to close the shop temporarily whilst the work men changed over some refrigerated shelving and that she and another assistant had stood guard at the door while this was being done ,explaining to customers and apologising for the inconvenience..Apparantly someone had taken umbrage to them closing the shop and even though it was only for about 5 minutes this person had phoned the police and complained. I couldn't stop myself from laughing but what a waste of police time.

I had the idea of pulling together a few stats tracking, our season. Β I hope you enjoy them and that they might promote some discussion.

Cameron demands a 'rethink' on England World Cup kit which will cost fans costs up to £90

  • Premier wades into row over launch less than a year after last new kit
  • Urges Nike and Football Association to think again about costs
  • Sports minister Helen Grant says price is 'not right' and punishes fans
  • Joey Barton says the £90 costs it is 'taking the mickey out of the fans'

Β

The Prime Minister said fans would 'welcome' the Football Association and kit makers Nike reconsidering the hefty costs which have been condemned as a 'rip-off' by fans.

The government has insisted the charges are 'not right' and risk punishing loyal supporters who are 'the bedrock of our national game'.

Worth it? The home and away kits go on sale for as much as £90 before the tournament kicks off

Β

Fans are unhappy that the new, costly kit has been launched less than a year after the last new strip went on sale.

It was only last May that the previous home kit was released, which has been worn just seven times.

The red away kit, released even more recently in June 2013, has had just two airings.

Β

Β

The £90 shirt is identical to those worn by Roy Hodgson's side, while an adult 'stadium' England shirt is priced at £60 and shirts for children aged between eight and 15 cost £42, with mini-kits priced at £40.

Sports minister Helen Grant took to Twitter to say: 'On £90 England football shirts for fans, it's not right. Loyal supporters are the bedrock of our national game - pricing needs a rethink.'

Prime Minister David Cameron called for a rethink on the prices after a backlash from fans

Β

Mr Cameron's officials spokesman said the PM backed Miss Grant and called for Nike to think again.

He told a regular Westminster media briefing: 'I'm sure all fans would welcome a rethink.'

The spokesman said it was 'clearly not' for the Government to set the price of football shirts.

But he added: 'It is a matter for the manufacturers and the FA, but does he agree with Helen Grant that £90 is a great deal of money for a replica shirt? Absolutely.Β

'Would a rethink by the manufacturer be welcomed by all fans? I'm sure that would be the case.'

Labour's shadow sports minister Clive Efford said the price of the shirts was 'disappointing'.

Justine Roberts, founder of popular parenting website Mumsnet, said: 'With the previous kit less than a year old and the away shirt worn only twice since then, it's not hard to see why some people might just think the FA are exploiting England fans by churning out yet another expensively priced version.

'When we asked our users about this this issue, an overwhelming majority thought football merchandise was a rip off.

'Instead of charging £60-plus for an 8-year-oldÒ€ℒs kit, the FA could lead the way and produce a fairly priced kit so all England fans could afford to buy it and show support for the national team.'

The latest shirts - to be worn at the World Cup in Brazil this summer - are going on sale on April 3, less than a year after the previous ones were released.

Mark Perryman, a member of England Supporters Club, said: Γ’β‚¬ΛœThey certainly donÒ€ℒt help themselves the fact two new shirts were introduced well before the 18 months.Β

Γ’β‚¬ΛœThey seem to have broken that rule. I thought it was a legal requirement.

Γ’β‚¬ΛœThe FA are in a difficult position, they canÒ€ℒt have a Nike home kit and Umbro away kit.

Γ’β‚¬ΛœI suppose the FAÒ€ℒs excuse for releasing the kits so early is that itÒ€ℒs a World Cup year, but IÒ€ℒm sorry they shouldÒ€ℒve thought about that when they signed the contract with Nike. ItÒ€ℒs crazy.Ò€ℒ

Not happy! Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton isn't best pleased at the price of the shirt

Β

Β
In the mid-2000s replica England shirts were on sale for £30 almost as soon as they were released.

The prices have since risen steeply, but they are dependent on results on the field. Following EnglandÒ€ℒs 4-1 defeat to Germany in the 2010 World Cup the price for the replica shirts worn in that tournament plummeted.

Perryman, who has been a member of the ESC for 18 years, added: 'At the end of the day people will vote with their chests. If England are doing well, people will buy it.

Γ’β‚¬ΛœIf they lose to Italy in the World Cup it will drop to a fraction of that £90 price.Ò€ℒ

Outrage from punters and those involved in the game poured out across social media websites.

Joey Barton said on Twitter: Γ’β‚¬ΛœΓ‚Β£90 for the new England shirt is taking the mickey out of the fans. When will it stop?

Γ’β‚¬ΛœI wonder what Γ’β‚¬ΛœmagicÒ€ℒ technology it has this time that forces the price up but doesnÒ€ℒt actually work.

Coming thick and fast: These are the second new kits to have been released in the past year by England

Β

Γ’β‚¬ΛœAlso [itÒ€ℒs] technology that the supporters donÒ€ℒt need. When will brands start to listen? Fans just want to feel a part of it. Part of the tribe.

Γ’β‚¬Λœ[itÒ€ℒs] appalling, in my opinion. Football again allows commercialism to eat away at its soul. Something has got to give.

Γ’β‚¬ΛœIts literally a white sports top with an England badge on. Costs about £2 pound tops to make in some sweatshop in the East.Ò€ℒ

Stan Collymore added: Γ’β‚¬ΛœNike have gone down American route. A Ò€œMatchÒ€ shirt and Ò€œstadiumÒ€ shirt, like NBA do. A joke, just make one please, £90 is a rip off.Ò€ℒ

The FA are not allowed by UK and EU law to get involved with setting the price of the replica shirts.

A spokesman said: 'The FA is a not-for-profit Organisation that puts £100m back into the game every year.

'It is through relationships with partners such as Nike that we are able to maintain that level of investment in football.

'The FA's policy is to avoid any involvement with how its partners or licensees set their prices, so as to avoid any risk of or implications of price fixing.'

Nike have pointed out that the £60 replica kit is the one aimed at fans, whereas the £90 shirt is the exact one worn by the players with the full technological additions.

The prices are recommended to retailers who are able to set their own value.

A spokesman also confirmed that the kit cycle would return in future, saying: 'The previous kit marked the start of the partnership between England and The FA and the timing of the agreement put us in an unusual circumstance with regards to kit cycle.Β

'A normal kit cycle will resume with the new kits Γ’β‚¬β€œ the home kit will stay the same for two years, and the away for one year.'

Notts County LFC vs Aston Villa LFC

wlsmatchthreadfullncav.png

Notts County Ladies kick off their Continental Cup campaign on Wednesday night as they host WSL2 side Aston Villa Ladies.

Β
Notts come into the game unbeaten, after three wins and a draw that have seen them top the league and progress through to the semi final of the FA WomenÒ€ℒs Cup. Goals from Captain Sophie Bradley and striker Jess Clarke sealed CountyÒ€ℒs place in the semis, with a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth Ladies last time out.
Β
In contrast, Aston Villa are still looking for their first victory, after three losses and a draw in their opening four games, including crashing out of the FAW Cup to Doncaster Rovers Belles.
Β
The Lady Pies will be looking to the fire power of Jess Clarke and Dunia Susi, who have got six goals between them, in the first four games, Jess on a run of four goals in the last three games. Despite scoring the first goal on Sunday, Sophie BradleyÒ€ℒs attenttions will focus at the other end of the pitch, the home side looking to keep their impressive defensive record going with County conceding only two goals in the four games.

I don't want to step on @weymouthPIE toes but is anyone interested in a playoff prediction league? Just for fun and to keep us going before the World Cup starts. Same rules as the current prediction league.Β
