Charlie Slater’s take on David McGoldrick

Featured Replies

I recall reading pieces stating that he was set to retire prior to joining Sheffield United. Did winning at Wembley change his perspective and make him see that he could help our team? Similar to how Ben Foster joined Wrexham, plus this story - https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/22582204/york-city-transfer-david-stockdale-sheffield-wednesday/

A field where dreams become reality.

This is like talking to my neighbour Frank. He could have written all that in two tweets, keeping the same sentiment as his message but saving everyone from reading the waffling parts.

There’s a lot packed into that story, but it’s interesting. I think it would be good to hear David’s side if it were ever to happen.

I expected him to go off-topic and start mentioning what type of tattoos David has on his arms and body, along with the weather like he does when covering games. It’s an interesting story, one which says a lot about McGoldrick.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

I remember reading about it. I think Alan Shearer also mentioned it on Match of the Day when David was playing for Sheffield United. At least one of the panel made a reference to him almost quitting.

Charlie sure knows how to tell them. I agree with others who say it reflects well on McGoldrick. It would be hard for a footballer to attend many games while actively playing, yet it’s still good to think he came to show his support.

I wanted Charlie to say halfway into the story that his kid woke up and that he would have to continue it later. Save me the job. ???? It does come across well for David, though I have my doubts about the story itself.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
