Luke Williams : Oxford Utd interest?

Featured Replies

It would make sense for them - but whether Luke Williams would be interested is a very different matter.

It's not worth losing our minds over this kind of talk IMO, it's just an opinion piece and nothing more.

I agree with @DangerousSausage, I noticed he was in the odds for their next manager but at this lower level they don’t really mean much. We've no idea if the Oxford hierarchy are interested or not, I’m sure lots of clubs have tracked Luke’s time with us, so I wouldn't be that surprised. But right now he’s ours and he signed a new contract at the start of this year so I'm quietly confident he'll be here for some time.

the flw love writing nonsense about notts, whilst it would make sense. i cant see luke williams abandoning us. he has far more chance of achieving something special here. oxford seem to be at the point where they are at the glass ceiling and unable to break it. i cant see williams choosing them over what we are achieving right now.

It will take a considerable amount of temptation for Luke Williams to leave Notts, I don't think Oxford United have that about themselves. It's like when fans feared losing Macaulay Langstaff, it's going to take something special to attract his interest. The minimum, I would say, is a secure Championship team that isn't in a relegation battle or likely to be sucked into one. Compensation may also take a different path.

At what stage do we try to sign Luke Williams down for longer?

Not worried about Oxford really as all they can offer is a division higher. Notts crowds are higher this season than theirs and I think he is definitely enjoying being here.Β
I agree with @Chris, I can only see him leaving for a championship club or a very large league 1 club.

I sincerely hope there is nothing in this story but when you’ve been as successful as we have other clubs are bound to come sniffing around our manager, whether Oxford are a club that will tempt him away is another matter. Let’s hope he sees Notts as a project that needs to be completed before he moves on to bigger and better things.

Luke Williams may be considered for every position, even if it’s managing a local Burger King, but that doesn’t guarantee his departure. Notts provides him with the potential to achieve something extraordinary. Oxford’s current standing might not reflect their true capabilities, given the recent dissatisfaction among their supporters.

Oh dear, as a player Rodders doesn't get to choose who the next manager will be and sometimes needs to keep his opinions to himself. He will have to get on with the next manager, who will probably not be LW.

"Oxford United in advanced talks with Luke Williams".

Hmmm..... Thoughts?

Clickbait. Apparently the local media has stated that interviews will be held next week, so I don't think it's credible. And once one of these stories has been put out, other sites will copy it as they don't want to be seen to miss out.Β

But the louder these stories get, the more I'd like to hear from LW to put everyone's minds at rest.Β

After all Luke and his team have achieved at this club, don't think he is finished with the project just yet. Too many boxes haven't been ticked as Luke himself admitted a couple of weeks ago. His love of the Fans, the Club and the relationship between him and the brothers says no go to me.

That story is no more reliable than those pop-up football sites that bait fans into believing their nonsense. The Portsmouth News might be credible, but the journalists who write for them aren’t always the most trustworthy. The same goes for the Nottingham Post, Derbyshire Telegraph, etc. If it’s reported by the BBC, who despite their misleading National News, would be far more trustworthy because their local reporters do an excellent job of ensuring a story is worth covering. Luke Williams isn’t going anywhere, according to my friend’s dad, whose mate works at Notts.

In the press conference he repeatably puts the story to bed.Β  He must have been asked 4 or 5 times at least, in different ways.Β  It seems @TheSkipperΒ that your friend's dad's mate was on the money... make sure you keep in touch just in case????!!Β

People are being daft towards Ruben Rodrigues. He clearly didn’t mean it the way it’s been twisted, and much of it continues to be taken out of context. We need to remember that he’s just a footballer and isn’t used to our media. I think it’s just an innocent comment made in the heat of the moment, just like Luke Williams says. Stop worrying and just enjoy Notts, and please be nice to people.
