It was a great move by Notts to bring back David to Meadow Lane.

His experience hasn't just been a benefit to Notts on the field of play where he has netted 18 goals in 48 appearances since his return.

He has also been very important to Notts off the field as well, such as on the training ground.

Being a senior figure he has taken on an unofficial mentoring role & has given lots of advice to his fellow players at the club.

Although he may not be the club Captain he leads by example on the field of play. His determination & work rate is an inspiration to others too.

He has been a positive influence on young players at the Club with his passion & desire.

Hopefully that positive influence will galvanise his fellow Notts players to some silverware at the season's end

It's just great to have the experience of David McGoldrick at Notts.

i dont think we can play him all the time, he tires and breaks down naturally. last season from the point we struggled to the end of the season showed that. hes much better being rested and started, saved for the big games and allowed to pick up minutes based on how hes performing. this season i think hes been class and part of that is because we have not relied on him so much.

I agree @liampie Didzy's playing time needs to be carefully managed.

It's been hard to leave him out due to all the injuries, but he's so good in the supporting role, basically acting as an attacking midfielder.

I think he will be rested against Peterborough & probably Scott will be in that role for that game.

In the new year, if the injured players return, we may see him more on the bench & used as a game changer.

I respect how he always tries, even when tired and not performing well. He puts the same effort into his performances. Last season, the squad relied on him, which isn't ideal for a player like David McGoldrick. Even this season, we could have managed him better but haven't due to injuries and a lack of attacking options.

David McGoldrick shows that players can feature as part of a promotion-fighting team even at his age if managed well. Modern fitness techniques have allowed him to perform at a high level, and this season he has put in some incredible displays, which still demonstrates that he could have remained at Derby County. The Rams might wish they had a player like him for his quality, experience, and leadership, which are invaluable in a competitive league. McGoldrick's continued contribution on the field is a testament to his dedication and professionalism, qualities that every team would benefit from.

On his day, David McGoldrick plays well above League Two level, showcasing his exceptional talent and experience. It's heartening to see him return home and become a mentor to both young and seasoned players at Notts County. Stuart Maynard needs to ensure he is managed correctly to avoid fatigue or injury, keeping him fit and effective throughout the season.

McGoldrick’s willingness to play every minute highlights his passion for the game and commitment to the team. This attitude, combined with his skill, makes him an asset not just on the pitch but in the dressing room as well, inspiring his teammates to strive for excellence. Given the opportunity, I have no doubt he would rise to the occasion and deliver outstanding performances consistently.

It's great to see Didzy back at Meadow Lane. His presence on the pitch is reassuring, and he's a real asset to the team this season.

one thing is when we dont have him, we do tend to miss his presence which highlights the importance he plays within the squad. i think we perform better as a team when hes involved too.

David McGoldrick will want to play every minute. No footballer wants to miss out on the action, and it's natural that he's eager to impact the team. His ability and experience are key. If he continues to perform well and decides he wishes to have more seasons, I wouldn't object to him signing a new one-year deal. However, his wages might need to be revalued because I strongly feel he shouldn't be earning the most. He's important, but he won't always be playing and sometimes he will be used as a super sub type player.

He’s a great player, definitely someone we rely on for those important matches. I think we’ve managed him better this season, but I believe he’s more effective in attacking positions than as a striker. However, he does both roles well. I’m sure he’s eager to continue his career, so unless things change, he should get plenty more playing time.

McGoldrick’s influence on this team goes far beyond what we see on the pitch. His leadership qualities are evident in how the lads rally around him, especially in tough games. We’ve seen him score some beauties, but what’s underrated is his hold-up play and ability to create chances for others. He doesn’t seem fazed by the physicality of League Two either, which is remarkable given how much football he’s played over the years. I reckon he’s the kind of player who could play at a decent level well into his late 30s. If he keeps turning up with match-winning performances, there’s no reason we can’t dream of promotion. He’s definitely still got plenty to offer.

David McGoldrick has set the standard for what it means to be a professional footballer. His ability to maintain such a high level of performance at his age speaks volumes about his dedication. It’s not just his skills that make him special, but his understanding of the game and how to exploit weaknesses in the opposition.

He’s always a step ahead, whether it’s in positioning or decision-making. The goals have been a bonus, but his overall contribution to the team’s play is what makes him stand out. He’s clearly enjoying his football, and it shows in the way he interacts with the fans and the team. Didzy’s been a revelation this season, and long may it continue.

David McGoldrick deserves to see out his career earning as many minutes on the pitch and as much game time as possible. I hope he retires with us and doesn't decide to drop further down the leagues. It would be great to see him end on such a high.

It’s been a joy watching Didzy roll back the years this season. He’s the kind of player who elevates everyone around him. You see the confidence he instils in the squad just by how he plays. His first touch and vision are outstanding, and his knack for finding space in crowded areas is second to none.

The goals are brilliant, of course, but his contributions are about so much more than just scoring. His defensive work rate is admirable too, tracking back when needed and pressing high up the pitch. To think he’s doing all this at his age is unbelievable. It’s a testament to his professionalism and fitness.

Didzy’s been the heartbeat of our attack this season. What stands out most is his ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations. Whether it’s converting a penalty or threading the perfect assist, he rarely puts a foot wrong. His age might make some think he’s nearing the end, but his performances suggest otherwise. He’s shown incredible fitness levels, and you can see he genuinely loves playing for Notts. It’s also clear that his presence boosts the squad's morale. Younger players must learn loads from him, and his experience is helping us keep pace at the top of the league. If he stays fit, I wouldn’t bet against him being pivotal in a potential promotion push this year.

McGoldrick’s impact is unreal, he seems to turn up when it matters most. We’re lucky to have him.

McGoldrick has been a revelation this season. You’d expect a player his age to be winding down, but he’s been the opposite – leading from the front and delivering in crucial moments. His ability to link up play, create space, and score when it matters has turned potential draws into wins, keeping us competitive at the top of the table.

It’s not just about the goals, his influence on the younger lads and his knack for reading the game are invaluable. If he keeps this level up, retirement seems like a distant prospect. The Magpies are lucky to have someone with his calibre and dedication.
