Oh no, another untried youngster. :panic:

There's some unrest over on Twitter, I haven't been well again today so I have only stuck to sharing our own news.

Yet I would suspect if I did it would be flooded with comments about this signing, not all are negative. Fans always have a way of expressing concern, whereas only a small portion really do go into meltdown.

Until we see him play, I can't really comment and I'm not really bothered about his age or experience because it's for him to prove himself.

I do agree it's showing signs that perhaps we either haven't got the money to sign more experienced players or maybe, it shows it is actually Derry opting for fresher legs who he strongly feels can offers us something? That said, I do wonder if he will play considering we have promoted Bishop to the first team. I would rather see Colby Bishop play.

Smacks of desperation - untried youngsters are not really ideal in our situation.

However, he may turn out to be a star so I'm happy to give him a chance & hope he can deliver. Huge gamble imo but I wish him well.

We seem to be compiling a team of under 20's & over 30's and I'm not sure that is a solid strategy. Huge pressure and responsibility if this lad regularly starts, if he doesn't then what is the point?

Posted

Give the lad a chance, same comment applies to derry.

Will he feature against Crewe? Its hard to see the youngster fitting in but its an addition and time will tell.

I agree with @notts-joe about Bishop. If the pair of them are competing for the Camelot then blood our own. That said let's give the lad a chance if he does play. If he doesn't, then why get him?

Trying to stay positive, signing people whose wages are only going to be couple of hundred quid a week does say that SD & GA are performing absolute miracles.

I say that because if this is all we can afford our budget must be on a par with Crewe & Colchester if not worse.

So I applaud SD & GA even more for what we have achieved this season.

@Northants Pie and yet Crewe managed to sign Fabian Brandy, even I would have welcomed him back attitude problems or not.

If Derry stamped his mark and we got the player Walsall/Sheffield United had, he would blossom more under regular first team football and he might have helped us. Yet we couldn't sign him :P

I'm baffled a bit too.

However, having thought it through, I have come to a possible conclusion:

Derry mentioned having to 'wait' for his A,B,C targets, depending on Championship clubs ect. However, we are short on wingers/strikers. So.... he brings in a couple of youngsters who could be good, could be flops, but only for a month, paying minimum wages. If it works out, great, we can extend. If not, we send them back, no harm done.

In short, they are a short-term bridge, until he can potentially secure his real targets. Or so I hope.

To be expected.

I think he is just adding depth to the squad, that Santos looks good and who knows he might have an understand with Thomas? If thats the case it could make perfect sense. I am quite happy to sign Derby players!

Thanks @super_ram

Camelot??? God only knows what the original word was before auto correct got to it!!!

Brandy is no better than Murray and I reckon SD & GA are after a big tall lad, hence why we signed the Melman impersonator that is Jake Cassidy, what we really need is Peter Crouch but that aint gonna happen at this level

Now on OS - youth loan from Derby, striker, one appearance, but mostly unknown.

@super_ram - Do you know him?

Completed 2 years in our academy scoring regularly for the U18's and U21's before signing as a 1st year professional  last summer. He's represented England at U16,U18 and U20 level. He's been on our bench several times but only came on once when Rams lost to Leeds in November. He should have scored then but the coaches were pleased with his performance in general.Hope both our players can help you out.

Posted

He seems to have the right attitude and we are pretty thin upfront, so this is a required deal.

If he does well offer to extend and see what derby say, if he does well fans will forget about the unrest and disappointment in not signing ronaldo.

Posted

Thanks @super_ram nice to see that.

What is wrong with Harrad and does this mean Bishop will be pushed out of the picture? I would rather see both them regularly playing than some youngster from another club (with all respect to supers club).

Posted

Firstly Crouch's contract ends in the summer.....

More importantly, I hope SDA your theory is right, whilst I understand a certain amount of loans for a club of our stature and at this level, I am underwhelmed considering we are supposed to have money to spend....

Posted

age is not important it is ability and if they can settle in, i think the fact derby is not many miles and the lad supposedly knows some of our players he may settle in well.

im not disheartened by this signing, good luck to him.

Having asked someone I know that has seen him play on quite a few occasions it seems that we stand to gain a really big talent that if he plays to his abilities will cause massive problems to defenders at this level, only concerns being his strength and if he will adapt to the speed quick enough, but that is the point of this loan for Derby, he did say though that if we had him for the rest of the season and played him regularly then we would come mid February, in his opinion have a real gem on our hands

Yes,I've heard good reports about both players but it's one thing playing for the reservers/U20's and stepping up to the first team.Playing time should hopefully benefit the players,Rams and Notts.

Supposed he's been recalled, ye don't play - ye don't have him.

Shame really because he looked a good player but we have so many strikers, I would like to see Derry replace him with a defender now.

Posted

Thomas did look to have a bit about him, unlike Santos, who slipped up 40 times on his way back to Derby!

Posted

Suppose the dialogue went 'Do you still want them/going to play them?' --- 'No, not really'.

They were both on a ONE month youth loan which has now expired! Nothing  to do with not playing them.

Yet we could have renewed Super, if they don't play or fail to make the bench of course they will go back.
