England v Panama

Featured Replies

this game should be played in cruise control for england, i just cant see how panama will cope if southgates men play like they did the other day. it sound be very straight forward and rashford needs to start for me.

They should be more defensive than Tunisia, so it might be harder to attack.

Sterling/Rashford/Young etc, all have to work for the opening goal and from there it should be easier.

Biggest game for Panama especially since they lost to Belgium.

I have a feeling it could lift them and that it might make them more defensively minded, so I would hope that our set pieces are a lot better and that any chances that do fall our way are taken properly. Great performance the other night but wasteful too, I want to see better against Panama.

If England play as they did against Tunisia the win will come.

I thought the performance was very good, it was pleasing to see the creativity and there should be more time to carefully choose what to do with the ball against Panama. We can't just expect the win but a solid performance should be enough to move to 6 points.

Belgium is the difficult game of the group, they are on fire.

I would hope Southgate drops the formation against the bigger teams but it will be interesting to see how it does against Panama.

It did allow us to control the midfield well.

Hopefully they won't do what Iceland did to us in the Euro's!

I would agree that's down to how England approach the game, if Panama set themselves up defensive - the way to gain space would be to draw them out further up the field.

Too many bodies at the back can lead to panic for defenders anyway, it makes it harder when there's a lack of quality.

England just need to play in the right way, focus on creating chances and using the byline to dig in deep balls that will result in headers/volleys. It should be a very easy game on paper, just look how Belgium broke them down.

Qualification will happen if England get it right, it would be good to go top of the group but this might be the hardest thing.

On paper we should beat Panama easily but football isn’t played on paper, if England play as well as they did against Tunisia though there should be no problems.

Its match day for England, can they score more goals against Panama than Belgium did?

I am going to my local to watch this, the atmosphere around should be good. Any one have some score predictions? I think it will be 4-0 to England.

I still think they will be very defensive, so we will have to draw them out and ensure that any chances we get hit the target. I think once a goal goes in it will make it easier, so we should just flood them but be prepared to defend.

I don't want to see the defenders causing issues like they did in the previous games.

Hopefully VAR will be on our side also. :P

Good early goal for England, it shows you that when defending you shouldn’t focus on one player. Grabbing and holding, then you concede.

Brilliant goal by Stones.

Brilliant first half! Good play, great goals and two clinical penalties by Harry Kane.

England have stepped off the gas in the second half, hope they pick it up. It would be nice to get at least two more, bring Vardy and Rashford on!

What a great win, I said to my grandkids they could have a jelly baby every time we scored, I thought I was going to run out.

Brilliant game, but we looked a bit lacking once certain players went off. Defensively, we need to be a little more alert because we shouldn't have conceded but overall it's looking good.

Bring on Belgium I say, I want us to win the group.
