  1. Hello,

I am Tom or Thomas, you will be able to guess where I am from. Yes it is Clifton. I am a huge fan of the super magpies and I found the site after seeing a couple of fan made videos. Anyone else here from Clifton? Be sure to say hello.

  2. Please give @Steve Wilson a warm PoN welcome.I hope you're soon posting and enjoying our site Steve.

  3. It's not as bad as it sounds, it's when a song or piece of music gets stuck in your head and you can't get rid of it.

I must say it happens to me a lot, I also have songs that pop into my head for no apparent reason.

  4. What did you think of the referee v Walsall? Did he do alright? What was his key moments?

Be constructive, honest and tell us what you think.

  7. Is anyone else having trouble spotting weak links within the 2014/2015 squad?

At the start of the season it looked destined to be the midfield, Smith, Thompson and Jones all looking like candidates for the blame game. To some degree, the same could be said for Harrad.

Last but not forgetting striker Danny Haynes, he is the only one bar our youngsters.

It will be a tough call for Derry to trim this squad come the end of the season.

  8. Last year they pretty much humiliated us and I hope we can repay that to them this year, I am surprised by how they have started. I really rate the way they play and although @sadlad told me awhile back they miss having Brandy and other strikers, I do think they have some decent options there.

That said I can see us scoring a few provided we play like we have been in recent weeks.

Harrad must be fancying his chances here, hopefully Noble can get something or put in another fine performance. It's going to be a cracking game, as Walsall are not a side to just sit back.

3-1 to Notts, I actually see them scoring first!

    Thoughts?

  9. Haynes debut gives Davis hope

173661494_3016530.jpg?20131009144958Steve Davis believes Danny Haynes can make a positive impact at Crewe after a promising debut in Saturday's loss to Sheffield United.

The on-loan Notts County forward was introduced off the bench in the 65th minute and caught the eye with his pace as Alex chased an equaliser.

"Danny showed some pace and directness in his play and he can take a chance in and around the opposition penalty area," Davis told the club website. "We saw glimpses of that potential on Saturday."

Davis has also backed defender George Ray to learn from his late red card versus the Blades, with the 21-year-old being dismissed after protesting to the referee.

"George let the frustration of the situation get the better of him because he felt he was fouled," added Davis.

"I don't know if it was for the reaction or because he put a hand on him but either way he knows he shouldn't be doing that. That is not in our style.

"He let it get the better of him and that is not the first time we have seen that side from George. He is working hard on that part of his game and this will be a learning curve for him."

Does striker Danny Haynes have a future at Notts? Could him leaving allow us to put his wages to good use? Thoughts on the article?

  14. Okay, so it's been a very close and fought contest between quite a few members.

We had 23 members vote which is fantastic to see, plus we have seen many other members contribute in various different ways and at the end of the day each persons contribution is greatly appreciated.

Poor old @themightymagpies was left in the cold.

@magpiejue and @BromPie didn't really take off but still, thank you to the three previous members.

@weymouthPIE at one stage was doing fantastically well and was in with a shout at being named.

@the_dan1 lead for a short time and seemed a major front runner, whilst @liampie came quickly in pursuit and @Cobby stormed into joint second.

Well done to the three who finished with four votes each!

However the winner of the Member of the Month no doubt goes to - @PTID1862

His return really stole the show, it is fantastic to see such an open and closely ran contest (which is a bit of fun). No selling your MotM gold member PTID!

Dan, Liam and Cobby - Enjoy being named each our Silver MotM!

With Weymouth taking the bronze medal.

Thank you for all votes, contributions and keep at it! You might not have won this time, you never know about the future.

    You Pies!

  15. Can anyone remember this? If memory serves me right in the old days when Radio Red only had one wavelength 103.8 they used to cover Notts and Forest matches alternately I think they did live commentary on whoever was at home and score flashes on the away team. They suddenly decided to stop doing commentary on Notts games altogether, this as you can imagine caused uproar amongst Notts fans, I remember sending a letter of protest of myself. It was the days before fan websites/forums but the Notts County Mailling list were very active in organising a "Boycott Radio Nottingham" campaign, there were car stickers printed, I've still got mine somewhere "I'm boycotting Radio Nottingham" which I put in my car, lots of Notts fans did the same.

Eventually due to the pressure from the fans the new wavelength was created 95.5 and this became our wavelength for home and away games. Hence from then on I always referred to them as Radio Red.

Anyone else remember this, have I remembered it correctly?

    What are people favourite ad's?

  20. Notts reached third in October but who scored PON's goal of the month?

  21. So, proudly onwards following the late win at Scunthorpe.  Having been on the end of costly late goals at Preston and Bristol City (h) this season, it was sweet and pleasing to see the characters reversed on Saturday.

Walsall always invokes memories of Fellows' Park and David Kelly to me - notoriously 1988ish when Barnwell's team choked around easter and lost in the playoffs to the Kelly inspired Saddlers.  Spoilt my pre-teen years, that did - and he then turned up at Forest!

Anyway - players to link the two clubs should be plentiful.  I will start with 2 players, a striker we bought for £225k and ended up using him as a RB - and a RB / CB that is best remembered by most for a drug-related terrance chant....

Kevin Wilson and Charlie Palmer were released by County and both popped up at Walsall, where they played key roles in a promotion campaign.  (just as we tumbled towards them during the "kendall' year".

  22. Stuart Pearce yet to decide if Stephen McLaughlin's Notts County loan will be extended

football-tottenham-v-nottingham-forest-sNottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has yet to decide whether Stephen McLaughlin's loan spell at Notts County will be extended.

The winger's month-long stint across the River Trent is set to end after the Magpies' Sky Bet League One fixture against Walsall at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

McLaughlin has made a big impact at Notts, making five league starts, as Shaun Derry's side have climbed up to third in the table. The 24-year-old also scored in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Scunthorpe this month.

Pearce said: "We will have a look at it and, if we feel that Steve can come back in and add to the squad, we will bring him back, if that is the proper thing to do.

"If we feel as though his experience, at this moment in his career, is best suited by playing at Notts County, we will make that decision. We will decide that over the weekend."

This is about Nottingham Forest but involves Stephen McLaughlin.

  23. Just noticed the pic you posted over on mad.

    Two points of interest.

1 the guy sat near you looks right fed up with your drumming skills. Looks like he is about to shove your drum stick where the sun ain't shining!!!

2 is that the fiver you are soon to be dispatching over to the UK in your hand?

  24. Hearing reports about an earthquake in Notts the epicentre around Hucknall. We didn't feel a thing, anyone else notice anything?

  25. Well in about an hour setting off for Skeg. Should be able to keep posting (just not as regular during the day due to the rides!) as the log cabin we're in has internet hopefully. Hope everyone has a good week and 3 points on Saturday. (Got puffin browser on the mobile so magpie player will work. One secret headphone in he ear under the hat and the wife will never notice - until we score and I start cheering. She'll think I've gone mad!)

    Best wishes one and all.
