  1. Please have a look, like and by all means tag the people you know (if any).

  2. The youth team won on Saturday morning, beating Bradford City 3-2 in dreadful rainy and windy conditions.

A close game was always in prospect with Bradford sitting in third place in the league with Notts in sixth.

Notts took the lead after only fifteen minutes with a fantastic shot from the edge of the area by Ben Browne which crashed against the underside of the bar before going into the net giving the visiting 'keeper no chance.

Notts were ahead for only five minutes when a loose ball in the Notts penalty area was hammered home by a Bradford forward to make the score 1-1.

After 40 minutes Notts got themselves back in the lead when a new player from Wolves whose name I don't know yet, was brought down in the area and the penalty was cooly fired home by Colby Bishop for a 2-1 lead.

Right on half time an error in the Notts defence allowed Bradford in for the equaliser again.

The second half was evenly contested but both defences were tighter and it wasn't until about fifteen minutes from the end when a quality free kick by Kyle Symons was headed home powerfully by centre-back Rhys Myers which ensured Notts collected all three points.

A good display by the young 'Pies in atrocious conditions.

  3. So who's celebrating Guy Fawkes night tonight? Are you having your own display or going to an organised one?

We are going to our grandson George's school on Friday for their display.

Our cat will spend the next few nights behind the settee no doubt, he hates this time of year. I often wonder how it affects wildlife too.

  4. Tonight's 2-0 win in Cyprus makes it 18 games without defeat in league, cup and Europa league since the start of the season, beating 17 at the start of 70-71.

I'm getting carried away, I was even disappointed with a draw against FC Bayern a couple of weeks ago. The triple is still on!

  5. Shaun Derry today becomes the first Notts County gaffer in SIX seasons to survive a full year in charge - Charlie Mac being the lost. A full year in charge of Notts is surely testimonial and statue territory these days!?

To be honest, it's a sad state of affairs when one year is such an achievement in football these days, but in Derry I really do believe we have a man who can be at this club for as long as he chooses to stay.

It's a hell of a transformation to where we were a year ago. We may not be the prettiest of teams, but after last years utterly spineless shambolic excuse of a side, I couldn't care less if we don't many any friends along the way this season.

Here's to many more years of progress and stability.

Shaun Derry's black & white army!

  8. I need help here...

I listen to the Mark Forrest show whilst at work and recently there was an interview with a chap who had written a new book on the changes within the game over the last few decades.

I wanted to put it down on the present list for Mrs PTID, but do you think I can find anything about it.. Nothing, not a banger.

Did anybody else happen to catch it? or Does anybody else know of said book due to be released?

  9. We went to our local pub last night and they happened to have a beer festival on. I tried the Toffee flavoured beer, it was a bit unusual to say the least but not unpleasant.

What's the strangest alcoholic beverage you've ever had?

  11. I was offered a freebie to go with a mate to see the Red dogs this am. Turned it down, but just wondering who will admit to having taken it or having visited over there recently?

With no match this pm people might be at a loose end!

    :)

  12. Anybody in PON world bought the latest Call of Duty today?

Thoughts and opinions if you please...

For me it plays quite well so far. Much better than Ghosts, which never really held interest. AW seems to be more fluid and the jumping etc adds a new dimension, but it really is a rip off of Titanfall. Hopefully AW will be easier as well. I have a bi-annual issue with COD.

Play well normally in Treyarch games and poorly in Infinity Ward. I'm due a good year from now until next Nov even though it is a Sledgehammer game.

  13. Welcome @barnet11uk

Seems like our Opposition fans are growing as well.

Why can't you just keep hold of Mad Dog ha ha ha, seems you'll be back in the league in no time.

Good luck against Wycombe this weekend

  14. Did any1 go? And transfer hints? or funny stories to tell?

  15. As some will know or may have heard Stephen McLaughlin is set to return to Nottingham Forest, he's reached the duration of his original loan and unless Notts can extend the deal - it would leave us missing a creative player.

Against Scunthorpe United yesterday, it sounded like he had a fairly poor game. Uncle Colin and Dean Yates both highlighted this.

Would you keep him? Should he stay or should he go?

Personally I would extend if we can, he's done well for us.

    Discuss....

  16. As you will see in the table. Our position is quite sufficient for the top half of our league.

We are 7 points clear of 12th & a goal difference of 9

Quite happy to begin the winter months here. [emoji1]

  17. Shaun has be nominated for Octobers manager of the month after winning 4 games.

Good luck to Shaun it would be a well deserved award.

  18. Happy Birthday Les Bradd!

Shall we now have some PoN cake??

    10686832_10152526926217983_4591295655481

I've always thought he looks like he's "flying here", he was one of many which my Grandfather liked. He would often tell me stories about goals Les had scored and this moment is one of them.

I really hope you will join me in wishing our legend many happy returns!

Especially our resident Rotherham fan @BradtheMiller..

  19. "Notts County will be without three key players for Coventry City clash".

So, Roy Carroll, Michael Petrasso and Mustapha Dumbuya will be on international duty. Coventry is a pretty big game, so there's a chance for some fringe players to shine here.

Personally I don't really understand why Petrasso doesn't count, however I am fine to see us play. However I would have preferred to see it called off due to the nature of the tie. Yet I do think it presents some of the fringe players the perfect chance to get into our squad, our young keeper being one who needs game time (concerned about his confidence) but he should be able to step in. Petrasso isn't a major concern for me but would have been nice to have in this game. Dumbuya will be a miss for me, he's done very well recently and I am unsure about his cover.

How do you feel about the missing players? Is it a big thing? Do you think we will cope? Is it the perfect chance for fringe players to get a chance? Let's discuss the points here.

  20. Drissa Traoré - Should he be tried?

Garry Thompson played upfront, he did well. It was a surprising tactic change which worked. Another was the addition of Drissa Traoré in the Scunthorpe game and he did well from all accounts I have heard from. He looked to have a decent debut and the pass of the season was made!

Now I think he should be given a go or at least somewhat a run.

We are missing that quality which a decent passer could do, he might have more quality in the bank. The french side he previously played for, their fans felt he was too good for a league one team. Why isn't he getting into the side? I don't think any of our midfield are irreplaceable.

How do you view this lad?

  21. Do you like them? Does it feel different (minus the cold)? Lets discuss it. #winteriscoming

    Opportunity Knocks for Bart

Ex Magpie keeper is in with a chance of starting more regularly for Ipswich Town after their no.1 Gerks hurt his groin. “Bart’s great, I’ve felt for him,” McCarthy admitted. “You see him in training, he breaks their hearts with some of the saves he makes".

The better he does, the better it is for us as Notts might receive cash if the Blues are promoted and a percentage of a future sale.

On a personal note I hope he does become their No1. Yet we have Big Roy now! You Pies

How do you see the move? Was it a good move for him? Do you see them going up? Do you see us getting any sort of return for this deal? Are you even bothered?

    Let's discuss it.

  23. Does anyone worry about the number of loan players we have in the squad at the moment?

Don't get me wrong they are doing a great job but one day they will have to go back to their parent club and where will that leave us?

Is it time we started signing permanent players so we can get a bit of stability in the squad? Or is that the way football is going now, players moving from club to club on loan especially in the lower leagues and even permanent signings have short contracts it seems. The days of 3 and 4 year contracts have gone.
