Wanted to go to game Saturday. But I have been advised not to by dr. If I get a cold it could start the virus I'm getting over. So it's the DAB radio for me. GGGGRRRRRRR😠😠😠

Newcastle United will not replace Joe Kinnear this season

<!--url{0}-->Newcastle United will not replace Joe Kinnear this season, after he resigned as the club's director of football on Monday night.

The 67-year-old was handed a three-year contract in a controversial appointment by Magpies owner Mike Ashley last summer - and was tasked with identifying new playing talent for manager Alan Pardew.

However, Kinnear has quit for unspecified reasons after less than eight months in the job.

There will be no new appointment in the short term although there is speculation that former managing director Derek Llambias could return to St James' Park.

Shay Given says the appointment of Joe Kinnear was always a strange one

Llambias, who had previously conducted transfer business, left the club within days of Kinnear's arrival but he is reportedly back on good terms with Ashley.

There was only one addition to Newcastle's senior squad after Kinnear was appointed last summer, a loan deal bringing striker Loic Remy to the club from Queens Park Rangers.

The only permanent addition he engineered during his return to the north-east turned out to be teenage prospect Olivier Kemen from Metz.

January's transfer window proved just as frustrating for Newcastle fans waiting to see their squad boosted, with just one player joining - striker Luuk de Jong from Borussia Monchengladbach, again on loan.

There was also one huge void left to fill, with the club allowing influential midfielder Yohan Cabaye to join Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of around £20m.

They were interested in signing Lyon's Clement Grenier and Montpellier's Remy Cabella but neither deal was ever consummated.

Worse would follow in their first fixture after the window closed when they were thrashed 3-0 by fierce rivals Sunderland at St James' Park, with Kinnear and Ashley nowhere to be seen as Pardew bore the brunt of a furious backlash.

Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has expressed dismay at the way the club is conducting itself off the field after Kinnear's resignation.

"Maybe it's Newcastle's way of trying to say that the performance on Saturday wasn't good enough and why they didn't get any new players in, maybe that's one of the reasons."

Alan Shearer

"That's life at Newcastle United," he said.

"I shouldn't say I'm surprised but I was surprised in the first place when he was announced director, particularly the way the news was broken when Joe himself announced it on the radio when he got some of the players' names wrong.

"What has he been there now, about seven months? And two players have come in, albeit both players on loan.

"Maybe it's Newcastle's way of trying to say that the performance on Saturday wasn't good enough and why they didn't get any new players in, maybe that's one of the reasons.

"But they can only get players in if there's one man prepared to sign a chequebook."

He doesn't look well, I know that he suffers from health concerns but he looks like someone slowly fading. It's a shame but at least he can take care of himself, I was surprised when he returned to management and perhaps now he can just relax.

I can't say I am with regards to this decision.

Nice to welcome @Bramerton Magpie.I hope you join in posting and enjoy your time with us

MIAMI -- David Beckham has exercised his option to purchase a Major League Soccer expansion team in Miami, and the deal will be finalized when the former England captain can secure a financing plan and location for a new stadium.

I heard about this on the radio, I was supposed but can't see why he would do this. Perhaps his love of football, tho he will need to invest if he wants to gain from it (which I doubt).

Good for the MLS, thoughts?

Should I change my username 15 members have voted

    • No stay as Tony Hateley
    • Don't care either way

Since the real Tony Hateley has sadly passed away I am feeling a bit uncomfortable with my username. The reason I chose it was because he was my all time favourite player. I wondered what you good folk thought, is it in bad taste to use his name now?

If I do change I thought as most folk know me as Tony I would probably just use that as my username.

I would appreciate if you took time to vote in the poll and put any comments in this thread, thank you.

Should be the biggest crowd of the season on saturday with 3,000 tickets sold to Coventry fans already. We need to make lots of noise.

I'll start.

COME ON YOU PIES. I HAD A WHEEL BARROW. SHAUN DERRY'S BLACK AND WHITE ARMY.

I've got a sore throat now.

Good result for the Blades, but is playing 120 minutes of football going to harm them in the league?

The cameras picked up at least 2 Sheffield players who had cramp toward the end of extra time.

Would we prefer to be still in the FA cup, even if it might wear down the players?

This Saturday's fixtures:
Leeds United v Huddersfield Town

Wigan Athletic v Charlton Athletic

Bristol City v Carlisle United

Crewe Alexandra v Sheffield United

Cheltenham Town v Northampton Town

Portsmouth v Torquay United

Michael Laudrup has departed Swansea City.No real surprise in view of recent back room shake up.

Strange one this. Found guilty, then not guilty, now guilty again. surely shows the Italian justice system isn't up to scratch or the evidence really is circumspect.

Assuming she is not guilty and not into dodgy sex games.....

Hold on a mo. She is quite a looker in some of her photos!!! I'm sure the odd dodgy sex game with her would keep it exciting as long as she promises to play nicely and not murder you!

Sorry for lowering the tone. The member of the month has obviously gone to my head.

This as been pretty popular over on MUP and our fans are pretty much behind moyes, only a small minority feel he is not the right person.

The majority of our fans think 10th to 5th, I think 5th is the target now.

Where do you think Notts will finish?

Don't dismiss non-league talent, says Notts County loan ace Kwesi Appiah.

5761148-large.jpg

From the bottom to the top: Having started out at non-league Maidstone United in 2007, just three years later Chris Smalling had signed for Manchester United. He's now an England regular.

ANYBODY who listened to Gordon Strachan's sarcastic assessment of non-league players last weekend was merely further proof about the stigma attached to them.

"They come in all shapes and sizes," was the Scotland manager's dismissive judgment as fans of Conference clubs went into a meltdown on a variety of social media platforms.

To write off non-league players as not fit for purpose seems a little bizarre given how Chris Smalling has become an England international having started out at Maidstone.

Kwesi Appiah is also proof that players can be found in the world of semi-professional football having joined Crystal Palace from Margate.

He too is of the belief that there are many gems waiting to be undiscovered outside of the 92 club.

"There are a lot of players in non-league who could easily make the step up into the Football League," he said.

"I spent three months on loan at Cambridge in the Conference and it just opened my eyes even more.

"I remember thinking 'wow' there are some serious players in this league.

"At some point I am sure they will get the opportunity and they just have to keep on doing what they are doing."

Even at the age of 23, Appiah has already enjoyed quite a nomadic career.

Full Article; Here.

Appiah seems a very confident young striker, he could have more of an impact if we could create him a clear chance. With a goal is confidence could be encouraging, however isn't is loan deal nearly half way through now? It was an emergency month loan, I wonder if Derry will try to extend or allow him to go back.

Certainly we need a striker.

Notts County Football Club can confirm that Joss Labadie has completed a switch to Torquay United on a free transfer.

Labadie had initially joined the Gulls on loan but a deal was struck ahead of the transfer deadline to make the move permanent.

The 23-year-old became a popular figure at Plainmoor last term when he scored four goals in seven appearances before being recalled to the County squad.

Limited game time in the Black and White stripes this season led to another loan stint down south at the beginning of January, which has seen the former Tranmere Rovers midfielder impress over three games.

The Sky Bet League 2 outfit was eager to secure his services beyond the one-month loan and, with Labadie’s Notts deal up at the end of the season, the club has allowed him to secure his future with Torquay.

Labadie arrived at Meadow Lane in the summer of 2012 and has made a total of 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring on three occasions.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Joss for his efforts and wish him the best of luck with the Gulls, where he will team up with former Magpies Kevin Nicholson, Krystian Pearce and Karl Hawley.

I don't really expect anything from the game, however I do hope we can at least draw. I think this will be a bigger test than Shaun Derry knows, he needs to motivate the players into starting the game as they did against Peterborough. You can never write us off or know what to expect really, it's games like this we tend to see ourselves surprised! Either for good reasons or for one's we would rather forget. Preston are no fools though, I expect them to start lively.

Two games now into the 'view of our upcoming games'. Preston have ex Forest striker Joe Garner, along with some other useful players.

I hope we avoid dropping JCR, he needs to play and their fans need to get over what happened. It wasn't nice for their player, however he ended up accepting Jamal's apology and it should be put to rest now.

It's sad how their fans think it's acceptable to continue it!

My prediction is 2-2, however we desperately need the 3 points. Thoughts?

Ps. Let us know if you're making the away trip here.

Listened to Colin and hardly heard them mentioned, Not their day today by the sounds of it.

This can be quite the popular topic on other sites, I've been apart of gaming communities where responses reach 1,000. No it's not going to happen here! (least not anyway - one for the future) ;)

Yet, It would be nice to see at least 10. I feel that's being fairly ambitious but you never know.

If you can add a screenshot feel free, the simple way is copy and paste. Just check your profile to find the answer to this and see how prolific you're.

Here's mine post-1-0-89931100-1391201768_thumb.png

I have a lot of making up to do (it's correct - reason behind it is due to moving from an older version back when PoN was NCFS) :)

So, how Prolific Are You?

Sad news today, as Tony Hateley passed away, ironically in Preston, at the age of 72. One of the greatest players in the history of Notts County and a man who won many plaudits from many fans of many other clubs. I wasn't lucky enough to see him play, but by all accounts he was a true great.

R.I.P Tony Hateley. Thoughts go out to his family and friends right now

Tony Hateley has died aged 72.

Gutted, can't say anymore.

Welcome to PoN @Mickypne.Glad to have another opposition fan join in.I hope we hear more of your balanced and unbiased views.

Leeds have issued a statement saying the Brian McDermott is still very much their manager. !!??

What's going off there?
