Put on the TV tonight to watch Gladbach vs. Bayern at Borussia-Park 7.30 KO our time. Gladbach 8 wins and 1 draw at home this season face the season-long unbeaten Bayern without Schweinsteiger and Martinez (and possibly Ribery).
Keep an eye on Borussia's attacking quartet of Kruse, Hermann, Arango and Rafael, and in defensive midfield Granit Xhaka who had more touches of the ball than anyother player in the Bundesliga in the first half of the season.
FCB's record in Moenchengladbach is not very good over the years, so here's hoping for another Borussia victory..
All together now (to the tune of Yellow Submarine):
Zieht den Bayern die Lederhosen aus, Lederhosen aus, Lederhosen aus
Zieht den Bayern die Lederhosen aus, Lederhosen aus, Lederhosen aus
Why not share if you follow the magpies but aren't currently based in Nottinghamshire. Who knows, you could find someone just around the corner to go to away matches with. What do you do to scratch your Notts itch?
I'm currently in Brum, so still get to go to home matches. The only annoying thing for me is the lack if away travel options (other than journeying in my own)
Notts County's hopes of keeping Callum McGregor have received some encouragement from Celtic boss Neil Lennon.
The Magpies retain a strong interest in the Hoops midfielder, whose loan deal expired last week.
McGregor was in the stands to watch the 2-1 home win against Sheffield United at the weekend and even trained with the rest of the squad ahead of that victory.
The 20-year-old's performances for Notts have attracted the interest of other clubs but Lennon appears open to the idea of an extended stay with Shaun Derry's side.
"We are quite happy with the situation there and the reports coming back are very positive" said Lennon.
The Magpies' League One rivals Wolves were on Monday linked with a £750,000 swoop for McGregor.
Wanderers' interest in the Scotland Under-21 international was later backed up by the player's representative Kenny Moyes, although Moyes went on to say that 'no firm offer' had been made.
However, Celtic are not looking to sell.
When asked about the possibility of a permanent deal, Lennon said: "Not at the minute.
"The reason we put him out on loan is to get him first-team experience. What he has done is set the bar for the rest of the young players who we want to maybe go out on loan.
"As I said, the reports coming back are very positive.
"He has been linked with Wolves - he has been linked with plenty of clubs. But he is our player and ideally we would like to bring him back in the summer and see how he has progressed."
McGregor is the Magpies' leading scorer this season, netting 12 goals in 27 appearances since joining the club in August.

Well, isn't that good news!? ![]()
Obviously it's still at the speculative stage, but surely with the blessing of the manager, there is nothing to stop McGregor coming back until the end of the season?

I didn't get chance to watch it on Christmas day, I actually forgot. I can't even remember why I looked it up, however I noticed some clips on youtube and felt tempted to watch. I didn't, I searched for the full episode. Sadly BBC have taken it off the Iplayer, yet I have my ways of finding things.
As a kid I loved Open All Hours, especially because it starred Ronnie Barker and David Jason.

Interesting game, although one I cannot afford to attend. £28 seems quite the rip off (along with travel), they obviously felt that we would take more than some other clubs with us being local but will the price effect the good following we have been seeing?
Things aren't going all that well for the Posh, so there's something for us to gain by trying to go at them for the points.
Although yesterday they beat Tranmere 3-0, regardless it should be a good game and we have something to protect now. It will be important for us to at least come a way with a point but not a major set back if we don't. With the following fixtures for us being, Walsall (H), Preston (A), Coventry (H), Wolves (A) and Shrewsbury (H).
Some big games coming our way again, however we have the advantage with the majority due to being at home.
I would go to Peterborough hoping for a win, though I would settle for a draw. I don't think we will take 300 fans (credit to them if we do) and I think it's likely to result in a draw. COYP!
Thoughts?

Not directly Nott's related, but it could be!
- Introduction of orange cards that would allow referees to send players to a sin-bin
- Quotas for foreign players
- Implementing rugby's rule where only the captain can talk to the referee with a free-kick advanced 10 yards for any dissent
- Abolishing the 'triple punishment' rule where a player who prevents a goalscoring opportunity in the penalty areas concedes a spot-kick, is sent off and also suspended
- All Fifa presidential candidates taking part in live debates on television and in front of the six continental confederations
- Making public the salary of the Fifa president and leading officials
Which of these do people agree with? Are they just trying to make changes for changes sake?

Shaun Derry is being quoted by Auntie Beeb as saying "Our performances of late have been top drawer. We are different animal now." [ http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25846045 ] I've been wondering what he meant:
a) the Gorillaven

b ) the Alliook

or c) the zebiphant

There's loads of these curios @ Google images "hybrid animals" if anyone wants to they can cut 'n' paste 'n share their own ideas.

It's getting too much now. Most of them aren't from Manchester, never go to games, yet stake some claim as its 'their club'.

I consumed quite a bit of alcohol over the Christmas and New Year period (as you do) so on 2nd January I decided enough was enough and stopped drinking any form of alcohol. It was going so well, it didn't bother me at all until today. Mrs. H. cooked a lovely trout for our tea, it was poached in a butter/wine and garlic sauce and I just really really fancied a nice glass of white wine with it but I didn't give in and had a glass of cola instead. Now I think I might be going off the rails and will cave in tomorrow when we have a curry, I love a glass of beer with my curry.
Am I an alcoholic?

Or today.. depending on when your reading this. The date we're talking about is 21st January.
I'll be honest, I'm pretty bored tonight. I noticed that today (20th) it is 7 years since Notts won 5-2 at home to Torquay, in what was my last game before we moved from Nottingham. It remains one of my favourite ever games, can't believe it was that long ago!
The thought got me thinking about how well we might have done in the past on the 21st January, looking for a pottentially positive omen for the game at Peterborough as it where. Surprisingly, the omen's are quite good!
You have to go right back to 1978 for the last time Notts were beaten on 21st January, when they went down 3-1 to Southampton at The Dell, Mick Vinter grabbing the Notts goal. Since then we've done quite well on this day:
21st January 1984 (First Division) - Arsenal 1-1 Notts County - scorer: John Chiedozie
21st January 1986 (Third Division) - Brentford 1-1 Notts County - scorer: David Hunt
21st January 1988 (Third Divison) - Notts County 3-1 Northampton Town - scorers: Ian McParland x2 & Mark Draper
21st January 1995 (Second Divison) - Sunderland 1-2 Notts County - scorers: Gary Lund & Rob Matthews
21st January 2003 (Third Divison) - Notts County 3-2 Stockport County - scorers: Mark Stallard, Paul Heffernan & Darren Caskey
21st January 2006 (League Two) - Notts County 2-1 Shrewsbury Town - scorers: David Pipe & Kelvin Wilson
21st January 2012 (League One - Notts County 1-1 MK Dons - scorer: Jeff Hughes
We'll tane any positive omen we can at Notts County
COYP

Television by Roald Dahl
The most important thing we've learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set --
Or better still, just don't install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we've been,
We've watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone's place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they're hypnotised by it,
Until they're absolutely drunk
With all that shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don't climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink --
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSE IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK -- HE ONLY SEES!
'All right!' you'll cry. 'All right!' you'll say,
'But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!'
We'll answer this by asking you,
'What used the darling ones to do?
'How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?'
Have you forgotten? Don't you know?
We'll say it very loud and slow:
THEY ... USED ... TO ... READ! They'd READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching 'round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it's Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and-
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How the Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There's Mr. Rat and Mr. Mole-
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks-
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They'll now begin to feel the need
Of having something to read.
And once they start -- oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They'll grow so keen
They'll wonder what they'd ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did.

Birmingham have confirmed that youngster Reece Hales has joined Notts County on trial.
The 18-year-old will train with the Sky Bet League One club on a short-term basis to help with his development.
Hales, who recently had a loan spell in non-league football with Worcester City, has made one appearance for Blues' first team, coming on as a late substitute in the FA Cup third-round tie with Leeds one year ago.

Looks more the development signing but you never know, anyone know much about him?

Did anyone see this story about a father who was fined £600 for taking his kids out of school to go on holiday.
When our two boys were at school we regularly took them out of school for the week before the May half term holiday so we had two weeks including the half term week. Almost every year we went to France camping, the lads loved it, they had all sorts of experiences in a foreign country, ate different food, saw historic sites, learned about the world war 1 & 2 battlefields, they learned a little of the language, made friends with French children on the campsites and even got invited back to French kids tents and caravans for meals etc., thereby learning a little of how the French live and how it is different to how we live. We used to sort of make it an extension to their education much more than sitting in a classroom being taught French or history etc., It was only one week out of their school lives but it enabled us to have a cheaper holiday than would normally be possible and them to gain from the experience.
What do others think about this, would you take your kids out of school to go on holiday?

I was wondering, other than football does anyone have any interests in any other sports?
I personally keep up to date with snooker, F1 and cricket.
But my main passions are WWE and motorcycle racing. I used to go to a lot of race meetings but they are so blooming expensive now, its ridiculous. We want to take Harry to one though before he's too old. He likes the crashes, its great when your a kid and don't understand the injury's that can be involved ![]()

Anelka Faces FA Probe Over 'Sickening' Salute
The French striker is facing an investigation after his country's sports minister slammed his controversial goal celebration.
8:30pm UK, Saturday 28 December 2013

Anelka says the gesture was simply a "dedication to his comedian friend"

Dieudonne has been fined for hate speech
Footballer Nicolas Anelka could face an FA investigation after he celebrated a goal with a controversial gesture linked to anti-Semitism in France.
After scoring the first of two goals for West Brom against West Ham, the former France international appeared to perform the "quenelle" salute made famous by French comedian Dieudonne.
France's Sports Minister Valerie Fourneyron condemned the striker over the straight-armed salute, which Jewish groups have called "a Nazi salute in reverse".
She wrote on her official Twitter account: "Anelka's gesture is a shocking provocation, sickening. There's no place for anti-Semitism and incitement to hatred on the football field."
The Football Association is aware of the criticism and is looking into the celebration.
Anelka, 34, used his Twitter account to defend the celebration, explaining that it was simply a tribute to his friend Dieudonne.
He wrote: "This gesture was just a special dedication to my comedian friend Dieudonne."
The footballer's gesture came after France's Interior Ministry said it was looking at legal ways to ban performances by Dieudonne M'bala M'bala - who has been accused of insulting the memory of Holocaust victims and threatening public order.
France's Sports Minister branded Anelka's behaviour 'shocking' on TwitterThe stand-up comedian has been fined repeatedly for hate speech and ran in the 2009 European parliament elections at the head of an "Anti-Zionist List" made-up far-right activists.
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls said: "Dieudonne M'bala M'bala doesn't seem to recognise any limits any more.
"From one comment to the next, as he has shown in several television shows, he attacks the memory of Holocaust victims in an obvious and unbearable way."
Dieudonne has responded to the criticism from prominent Jewish figures by threatening to sue them for linking his gesture - a downward straight arm touched at the shoulder by the opposite hand - to the Hitler salute.
He named the gesture "la quenelle" - the word for an elongated creamed fish dumpling - and says it stands for his anti-Zionist and anti-establishment views, not anti-Semitism.
The gesture has gone viral on social media recently, with mostly young fans displaying it at parties and sports events. Some do it while in the audience at live television shows.
The straight-armed salute has become hugely controversial in FranceTwo soldiers were sanctioned by the army in September for making the gesture in uniform in front of a Paris synagogue.
Roger Cukierman, head of the CRIF umbrella group of Jewish organisations, complained about it to French President Francois Hollande last week.
He said: "It's the Nazi salute in reverse.
"Very clearly, Mr Dieudonne is developing a nearly professional anti-Semitism under the cover of telling jokes."
Kick It Out, the anti-discrimination campaigning group, said it was looking into the gesture from Anelka and would help the FA if its assistance is requested.
In a statement, Kick It Out said: "Kick It Out has been made aware of West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka making an alleged gesture, known as the 'quenelle', which carries anti-Semitic connotations during today's fixture against West Ham United at Upton Park.
"The campaign is in contact with partners in England and France regarding this matter and has offered its support to the Football Association in any forthcoming investigation."

Arquin gone to Scotland for a trial with Ross County.
Both Charlton lads gone back to parent club.
Might leave us short a left back, meaning Sheenan back to LB?
Also no mention of Fozzie leaving yet. What a shame!
NOTTS County will not be extending Morgan Fox's loan at Meadow Lane.
The Wales Under 21 left-back has returned to Championship club Charlton Athletic after a five-week loan at Meadow Lane.
And Magpies boss Shaun Derry says he will not be coming back.
Striker Yoann Arquin could also be on his way out of the club, having been on trial at Ross County.
The 25-year-old has not played for Notts since mid-November and was also a spectator as the Scottish Premier League side beat St Johnstone 1-0 on home soil last Saturday.
Charlton Under 21 captain Bradley Jordan has also gone back to The Valley with Fox, having joined Notts on loan deadline day at the end of November.
Midfielder Jordan did not play a play for the Magpies, but Fox played seven times, making six starts.
He also scored the first goal of his professional career as Notts beat Colchester United 4-0 in League One in mid-December and helped them to three league wins.
"It was very hard for them to adapt to the level we are at, not so much Fox, but Bradley," said Derry.
"Bradley came in and perhaps wanted to play a bigger part than he did.
"What I would say is – and fair credit to them – they came with a freshness and an attitude that really helped us as a group.
"As much as there was disappointment from Bradley's angle, I'm hoping he will go away better for the experience of being out of his comfort zone and for Fox he came in and played in three wins so that's great for him.
"He'll want to get out on loan again, but we're looking at different options."
