has everyone gone back to work?

its around the time everyone fears i suppose, horrible after having such a good time to fall back into the dull days ahead. it looks like i will be joining weymouth and looking for a new job. at least i can look forward to seeing how everyone is doing here!

Midfielder Kyle Dixon has joined Skrill North outfit Boston United on a one-month loan deal from Notts County.

Dixon recently impressed during a spell with Grantham Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, where he made seven appearances and scored one goal - in a 2-2 draw with Barwell on Boxing Day.

Good move for me, it's important that key youngsters get a chance to establish themselves and gain experience. I like Kyle, he's a pretty promising player but sat in our dev squad. It isn't going to help him as much as actual experience, hopefully he impresses them and attract interest from a League Two team.

Useful youth player IMO.

We're now 3 games into PoN's view of our upcoming games. It's also the game I selected as the key one, although all games are as important - I don't think we will have many bigger than this one.

Timing wise, it's pretty ideal. Sheffield United are only four points ahead of us but with a game in hand. None the less it's the ideal with the home advantage and our recent form. We need to get something out of this game, a draw would be great but a win! We will require a top performance.

Sheffield United have drawn 3 of their last six games - losing 1 and winning 2. They're a side which are quite flat but rather direct, although they're a dangerous side, they struggle to get their grips on games - under-performing like us. Nigel Clough's installed some optimism after defeating Aston Villa 2-1 in the F.A Cup. Sheffield United are also better prepared under Nigel Clough and have been the most threatening since he took over.

It's hard to judge who will play left back if Morgan Fox's loan spell as ended - We might be tinkering around with our selection, although this hasn't stopped us from overcoming obstacles. Enoch if selected will prove to be an asset in this game, as he shouldn't easily be out muscled like lightweight options might. I hope McGregor turns out to have re-signed in time, he will be a big miss but this said I think we can surprise everyone with this game!

2-1 Notts - 6,780 overall attendance.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure this is the right section to post this, moderators/admin feel free to move it.

I just caught something on Radio Red this morning about Nottingham Ladies FC, apparently Ray is/was heavily involved in Lincoln FC Ladies and he has transferred them to Notts County Ladies and they have won a bid to be in the top flight of Ladies Soccer.

This is all much to annoyance of Nottingham Fword Ladies who have missed out on their bid, they are very annoyed that they didn't know they were bidding against another Nottingham team and thought it was Lincoln.

Nice to get one over the Red Dogs, well done Ray.

As usual Radio Red had their red tinted glasses on and had two people from Nottingham Fword Ladies in the studio to interview but no one from Notts County's side to give our version of the story.

Anyone else know anything about it.

I'm taking my 9 year-old son to Stevenage on the official coach, for his first away trip on organised travel - £13 for me and free for him - pretty good value I think. Is anyone else going?

If Mac cant play on Saturday, I'm sure Danny Haynes would do a good job just off the front man. He can't lead the line as thats not his style, but sitting just behind a big man and running in? Me thinks it'll surprise a few and work well.

I think he is a good player, who has so far, been unlucky with the formations we've chosen.

Glad to see another new member,welcome @ScaffPie.Have a good look around the site.There are articles on the home page,blogs and of course all the forums.You'll soon get used to us all.Please join in and enjoy. :thumbsup:

A warm welcome to @AndrewMacdonald1862, welcome to Pride of Nottingham!

I hope you like what you see and stay around, we're a friendly community but growing all the time. It's good to have you here, why not share a little about yourself? How long have you supported Notts?

YP!

i had to walk past a group rowdy blade fans earlier, who shouted abuse at me. all grown men at least 20 years older than myself! at one point two of them started following me but a fight broke up between some of the other group.

how thuggish are their fans?

i noticed an elderly man in his late 50's to mid 60's with blood pouring down his face!

a cop told me to walk a longer way around to ml because supposedly trouble had broke out. i cant see anything about this at all online, did anyone else see things like this?

There's a rumour going around that McLeod is set to sign from MK Dons, not sure I believe it but a friend linked a message about Orient being interested in Haynes?

I'm not sure about McLeod personally, despite Haynes being split between our fan base. I do have hopes for him!

I would only let him go if a fee was involved and if Derry was open to giving Arquin another chance, unless he leaves. We need to make the most of who we have available. Your thoughts?

So has anyone's opinion of Fotheringham changed after yesterday? I know he has had a lot of stick from fans who say he is not good enough for this level but I think he had possibly his best game since joining Notts, it seems that SD is bringing the best out of him.

I couldn't see his celebration properly from where I was sat in the Pavis but it looked like he was enjoying celebrating his goal with the fans.

I also liked his interview after the game, he always comes across as very genuine and enthusiastic about the club, he mentioned that he was a big friend of MacGregor and said that he would cry if he didn't come back on loan.

What are others thoughts?

Just remembered I had these photos from 2010 on my facebook.

Warning, this may or may not make you miss some of the players who no longer playing for us

I'm all for the idea. I would much prefer to stand when watching football. If it can be done safely I don't see why not.

Welcome to PoN @iloveapie.Look forward to you joining in. :thumbsup:

Notts have signed Keiran Freeman on loan from Derby until March.

Great news, he'll slot straight back in.

Just for a laugh name your PoN starting 11.

Goalkeeper
@cheeky~k8

Defenders
@MuddyPatchPie @weymouthPIE @PTID1862 @Pies4u

Midfielders
@super_ram @Cobby @hissingdwarf @super_pie

Forwards
@Super_Danny_Allsopp @tonyhateley

I have no idea if anyone apart from Cheeky, is okay with the position I've decided but this is my team. I'm hoping we can push for an automatic spot - I have a good bench but it would get complicated to name 'em.

Go on have a laugh, name your squad!

P.S I put Super Ram on the wing so he didn't slow the team down but I couldn't miss him off, Super Pie has the speed of a demon and should make up someone's slowness. LOL

Care to share a picture of you at ML/during supporting Notts?

I noticed @Dan sharing pictures that he found whilst going through his storage CD's, it reminded me that I originally sent a friend request because of this very photo I've posted below. Now @super_pie's much older, I have physical evidence that he enjoyed games a youngster. :D

have you ever met up with another fan, either at a game or elsewhere?

i just read a post by @Canadian where he mentioned meeting another member, it got me thinking. i have not, i go to games by myself but i have noticed joe around the ground with his children.

It has been three years today that Richard Butcher passed away

RIP

A big game for @super_ram tonight, the rams will go fox hunting in search for a cracking result. Who do I favour? I personally think Derby will take the game, especially if they score early on.

Leicester City are a little inconsistent and Derby's in good form.

This will hopefully be a really good game and for those at home, why not join in with this discussion? It's live on Sky Sports. If I can find a suitable stream, I will share it here.

COME ON YOU RAMS!!

I'm not fully aware how the current system works, although I know there's a lot of politics and limitations for smaller clubs.

I think Shaun Derry said is his interview the other night that youth team football's results (with the greatest of respect) doesn't matter, now I agree but only because they're still learning. I personally think it would be fairer to structure the leagues to replicate the real football league, although I guess the big boys wouldn't like this.

A lower clubs youth setup might be able to cut it against the wonderkids and future stars of the Premier League.

If our grass root's really going to be successful, I think this would aid it. You can only improve playing football, training - who against and who with of course helps and I think if a club can get the most of their youngsters, why shouldn't they be able to play Arsenal's or Manchester United's just because the infrastructure isn't fitting to the others?

Naturally the bigger clubs will be able to invest more in their youngsters but a system like this for me seems fairer. Promotion and Relegation - I guess one down side would be the cost of travel.

Thoughts?

Nottingham Post Article;

JAMAL Campbell-Ryce can't believe Bartosz Bialkowski is still at Notts County, but says: "I'm glad he is."

The Magpies' Polish No.1 has been in great form this season, despite the club's struggles in League One.

And Campbell-Ryce is surprised he's not been snapped up by a Championship club.

Notts have only kept four clean sheets in the league all season and Bialkowski has had to pick the ball out of his net 37 times in 24 games, but he has still made lots of super saves.

Bialkowski, who is under contract at Meadow Lane until 2015, claimed his latest shut out as the Magpies beat Bradford 3-0 on New Year's Day.

And while Jamal Campbell-Ryce, leading scorer Callum McGregor and Jack Grealish grabbed the headlines with the goals, winger Campbell-Ryce raved about his team-mate Bialkowski.

"I've got no words for that man," he said.

"He's probably the best goalkeeper that I've ever played with, without a shadow of a doubt.

"How he's still in League One I have no idea, he's unbelievable.

"I don't know what scouts are looking for.

"His kicking is great, he can use both feet, he comes for crosses, punches and is an unbelievable shot stopper.

"He's the complete goalkeeper and how he's still here is beyond me.

"Obviously I'm grateful because he's kept us in so many games and we need him, but I don't understand it."

Campbell-Ryce also likes the way Bialkowski quietly does the business and lets his performances do the talking for him.

"He goes about his business quietly and it's brilliant," he added.

"I get on really well with him, he's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and a fantastic goalkeeper."

The Magpies have not played since that victory against Bradford, but they return to action with another big game against Sheffield United at Meadow Lane on Saturday (3pm).

A victory over the Blades could lift Notts out of the relegation zone and Campbell-Ryce says he is full of confidence and ready to gun them down, after scoring his first goal of the season against the Bantams.

"I'm not going to rest on it now, I'm going to keep trying to get more and more goals," he said.

His name being mentioned on lots of places now as a new possible for Notts.

Not sure about this one at all. Never mind the puns on his name, he seems to think he is better than all the other attackers at whatever club he has been at...

hold on...

that suits Notts perfectly. nothing wrong with believing the truth!!!
