I mean players by the way!

After reading that Liddle might be out for a perlonged period, I think maybe it's time shaun released a few of the players who haven't contributed and tried to wrangle a few players coming in which he owns rather than loans.

Thoughts on who to release and why?

Firstly, what a BRILLIANT username! Full points here for creativity, I like it!

Welcome to Pride of Nottingham @Mind your McManus, I'm very glad you've joined us and I also hope to see you contribute when you get time (even if it's just to see this username). I've heard many stories of keeping ability, I still have one of those old player cards my Grandfather gave to me as a child of Eric's.

Well I hope you drop by sometime to say hello, it would be nice to hear from you. See you around the community!

After it being mentioned on the Derry thread I thought it would be a nice way to welcome in the new year with a quick recall of some of the managers we've had in recent memory. For me it goes back to Jimmy and obviously nobody has come close since, but we've had a few lame ducks!

talking about 'having a few' Howard Kendall at the Lane. What a waste of money on his wages and his drinks bill that was!

A good manager is normally judged by overall championship wins eg Warnock and big Sam, but as I mentioned in another post, Mick Walker was always the manager who could have done so much, but wasn't allowed to by Pavis. Mick is still a favourite of mine just because he believed in his philosophy and it looked like it was well on the way to working (Unlike CK!)

This Sunday's fixtures:

Watford v Queens Park Rangers

Wigan Athletic v Burnley

Coventry City v Oldham Athletic

Wolves v Leyton Orient

Burton Albion v Newport County

Torquay United v Exeter City

All games are Sunday 3pm kick offs.

Good luck everyone

Hi Nesh,

I hope you enjoy being here and join in posting on the forums.

I see Derby had a good away win today, that should make our Mr. Ram a happy chappy.

I know it's early days but what's your assessment of McClaren's tenure so far @super_ram?

Afternoon all.  I've been reading on-and-off for a little while, but only just made my first post.  So, er, hello.

I'm a kind-of exile from NCMad - member there for years and years but never posted much - about 800 posts in something like 8 years, just a lurker really (and occasional Twitter/Mailing List contributor), so there are a few names here I recognise.

Anyway, good to be here.

In-form youth team striker Colby Bishop has earned a scholarship with Notts County Football Club after an impressive trial.

Bishop has scored a remarkable nine goals in four appearances for the youth team.

The goals have seen the young Magpies put together a run of four consecutive wins and climb to sixth in the North East Youth Alliance.

Academy manager Mick Leonard was full of praise for the promising young striker and believes he can continue to improve as a full-time scholar.

Who do you guys reckon will win this year? Could this be Man City's year or could Chelsea sweat their way through again?

Derry getting his point across

<!--url{0}-->Notts County boss Shaun Derry focused on the positives after his side were held 1-1 at home by fellow strugglers Bristol City.

City were awarded the game's first spot kick when Dean Leacock was penalised for holding Aden Flint, with Sam Baldock slamming the penalty home.

Just when it seemed this would be enough for City, Alan Sheehan held his nerve to ****** a point for Derry's side after Marvin Elliott had been judged to have grabbed Leacock in the 89th minute.

Derry said: "The referee did have the last word and there are disappointments from both sides, but I think we'll leave that for another day.

"I don't think either manager will ever both get what they want out of them.

"Overall, I'm really pleased with the point because it was a big game for us.

"Steve came here and wanting to win and I know what he's like as a character, I've worked with him before and his players did very well for him.

"When you get a point like that at the death, you'll take anything because there were a lot of disappointments on the pitch.

"They showed their character and they showed exactly what I want them to do.

"As a manager I want them to express themselves right until the very end and I felt they did that and there are young players learning every day with us."

Welcome to P o N, @ Mad ashman. I hope you enjoy your time here, it is good to have you. The community here is growing and it is good to have fresh contributors.

Welcome to P o N. Hope you enjoy it here, join in posting in the forums. Good to have you aboard.

how was everyones christmas?

mine was spent with relative who never bother to do anything all year round, apart from christmas day and that is their day to show off. i logged on here quite a bit, it was extremely dull. i did get a new notts top, new coat also notts and my mum got a tablet which came with a notts cover, i dont think its official though.

how about you, whats is your new year eves plans? my household dont celebrate it, so i am working.

Port Vale are doing better than I thought they would, their owner does a lot of interacting with the fan base and the football league show did a section on him earlier in the year - I can remember being bemused by the 'refreshing' to see comments the show made. Other clubs have already done such, yet it was nice to see.

Apart from Lee Hughes (who I don't want to see play or score), I don't know enough about them. I actually can't name another Vale player, which isn't normal.

We will be without Gary Liddle, yet Ball is reportedly okay to play.

Who do we slot into midfield with 'Every Liddle Helps' absence? I think Fotheringham did okay, although he did a few things which I didn't like and I am usually one who defends him (as I do with others) lol.

Tempest? Perhaps the Charlton midfielder we are yet to have seen, I've forgotten his name! Bradley? Mmm....

Thoughts?
