Will we see more stability this upcoming season?

I thought it would be interesting to see how members views of the coming season change as close season activity happens.

 

Beyond Roy Carroll I don't have any idea how Notts would line up or what formation would be used at the moment but with new faces hopefully coming in options should become clearer.

  I know it's early days still but where do you see Notts at the moment ? As signings are made do you feel more or less optimistic ?

At the moment I see Notts as lower to mid table and just for the record I see my lot as about 10th.

Unlike last season, our lineup is already looking younger and more energetic. We need more positions filling tho!

Who do we have left? its hard to even remember.

It's hard to say because (hopefully) more players are to be signed but so far I am very pessimistic, I just hope we don't do a Tranmere, I hate the basement division because there is a real danger of dropping out of the league.

Like @tonyhateley I can see us doing a Tranmere unless we actually go & get some quality players as lets be fair, we still have the majority of the squad from last season & that squad was league two bottom four every day of the week.

 

Last seasons squad could be characterised by these four words; slow, talentless & extremely unimaginative, lets hope we're not saying the same thing in 12 months time.

On paper in my opinion the backbone looks quite good.

@MichaelRiordan shown me his current line-up the other day and I was quite optimistic about it,​ we must remember this is League Two and there's not many sides that could give a run for the top half of League One. Yes, this is a division that is all about about being physical, grafting and form but I believe on paper we have a decent squad.

We got relegated for a mix of reasons, it wasn't all down to the squad of 2014/15.

If we get quality in, then we can top it up with some loans. Currently I do feel we need more pace and skill, without the right balance we just go from one end of the spectrum to the other. We need signings which make the fans believe we will be promoted!

It's not too bad considering we've barely signed anyone yet, but we need more wide players - Curtis Thompson needs to stick to central midfield, and Hayhurst could do with competition. McKenzie is also still something of an unknown quantity - could be a revelation next season, could end up at Gedling. Ditto Daniels. If Bajner signs we'll have 5 strikers on the books already so I doubt we'll see any more forwards.

 

If Spencer, Murray, Daniels and McKenzie all get a solid pre-season in they could all be like new signings. Spencer is definitely good enough for League Two, but the others have a lot to prove.

It highlights how important it is to fill the following positions properly, RB x2, CB, CM, M/RL x2, ST.

We need to add some real depth to the squad, if we just signed steady league two players I would be happy.

I don't expect to see us bringing any big names as such, perhaps we will be better for this but this season for me is all about how we handle pre season. I don't read too much into the results but it does show me which players are prepared for the season ahead. If we keep them motivated, I think we should be okay in the league. I think some fans worry to much about being relegated.

3 upfront would be nice, a luxury in l2 we could probably afford to be more attacking minded.

I'd hope that would be somewhere close to our starting eleven. Maybe Hayhurst thrown in there.

It is still very much early days but the point of my post was to see how members (and not just Notts fans) feel how much progress  is being made and how  much more or less confident they are of a good season coming up.

  As for my team ,we have a new manager.Whether  that's progress or not remains to be seen but I hope we get a few new defenders and additions in attack.We can but hope- CYP's,CYR's

Yes, depending on the quality of the signings, obviously. However, at the moment there is complete silence from the club. 

There has been 1 signing to date of OK quality. No exactly appeased when other clubs around our level are snapping up players. 

The squad is slowly taking shape, which I cannot comment further on because it is still early days.

The Rams have made last seasons Jan loanee Darren Bent permanent.and also signed Reading CB Alex Pearce.Just need replacements for Tom Ince/Jordan Ibe and Jamie Ward plus full backs.Still only expect 10th place or thereabouts

No, it's all quiet yet again and I just hope the rumours are true about us signing someone else soon.

Nothing is happening. At all. There's a rumour on the other board that we're in for Dale Jennings, I can only hope it's made up.

So how do you see the close season progressing(apart from slowly).New sponsors,backroom changes and a few signings so far. Are you looking forward to the new season with renewed optimism or do you think it's going to be one big disappointment.

We are Notts County... therefore we shall either win the league by Easter or look forward to non-league football....

I saw a post yesterday on twitter from the other forum where Ray has said we should be having 4 maybe 5 new signings including 2 wingers and a striker.
